Log [Alison, Lorna] - Girl Talk

Alison & Lorna, Wednesday night before Scott's return to the mansion. They go from silly girl talk to team talk.

Are you keeping groping from me?  You're bound by the Girl Code to share any and all groping stories.

There was, she knew, a stupid grin on her face. Wiping it off while going up the stairs to her room after seeing Miles crush Haroun at whatever video game they had been playing had been somewhat manageable. Keeping it toned down to "yes this is a silly smile don't notice it now" levels while walking down the hallway - done. But as soon as she walked in the common room of the suite she shared with Lorna, Alison had to duck her head and hide her face because The Stupid Grin was very much in evidence.

Lorna knew The Stupid Grin well, though it had been quite some time since she'd seen Alison sporting it.  She allowed herself a smug, congratulatory moment and mentally stuck her tongue out at Haroun who would have rather she derailed this moment so he could be useless but soldierly.  "Hey, roomie.  How's it going?" Lorna knew better than to acknowledge the Grin right away.

Damn! There was a witness! And The Stupid Grin was taking over! And it was Lorna - no way to bluff it out there, although Alison supposed it was worth a try. Somehow. "Hey... great weather to today." Or maybe not. That was about as pathetic as trying went, Alison decided. Still grinning in more than a silly way. With a faint groan she gave up, covering her face with her hands, shoulders shaking a bit in silent laughter.

It was cold and cloudy. "Uh huh." Lorna wandered over to refresh her coffee and then flopped on the couch without spilling a drop.  "Yeah, gotta love fall on the East Coast."  She let Alison giggle, figuring The Stupid Grin would eventually give way to The Babbling of Giddiness.

"Wench." The declaration was followed by a bright smile, Alison wandering over to plop down at the other end of the couch lazily. She wasn't babbling (yet) but the grin was very much silly still, and the gleam in her eyes was pretty much as giddy as it could get. She lifted her legs up on the couch, nudging Lorna without shame while she worked out a comfortable spot of her own.

Since Alison's feet ended up in her lap, Lorna took the opportunity to check out her roommate's polish.  "I like this color. 'I'm Not Really a Waitress'?"  She sipped her coffee.

Alison grinned wickedly at that, giddiness replaced by something not quite the same for a moment. "I used to wear that one all the time when I was a waitress. It made me feel so much better." She wriggled a bit then leaned back, not quite but almost purring to herself. "You want to ask. You know you do." She might not have been purring, but canary feathers were definitely involved.

Lorna grinned.  "Okay, you're right.  I do." She set her coffee down and gripped Alison s ankles.  "Can I borrow your blue shoes?  The ones with the beaded strap?"

"You." Leaning forward a bit suddenly, even with her ankles trapped, Alison eyed Lorna with suspicion. "You helped set this up, didn't you?" Oh sure, now she was catching on to things.

Lorna gave her the Little Miss Innocent face.  She did it better than Alison did, but then, that wasn't saying much.  "Set what up?  Did something happen to the shoes?"

Laughter greeted that remark, Alison falling back in a fit of giggles. "Yes." She snickered to herself, grinning like a loon. "You can borrow the blue shoes with the beaded straps. You can even borrow the very sexy little dress that goes with it if you want." She waggled her eyebrows, daring Lorna to do so. "I might even tell you a leeetle bit about last night too, if you ask real nice." She held her hand up, showing a minute space between her thumb and fingertip for Lorna to see.

"Oh hey, the dress too?  Alex's eyes are so going to fall out." Lorna forgot she was teasing for a moment while she considered it then reluctantly shook her head, "It won't fit." Teasing returned, elbowing out weight concerns like a pro, "Oh, that's right, you went out.  Did you have a nice time?"

If she grinned any more, her face was going to crack. Yep. And Lorna was trying on that dress before the day was over if it killed Alison. "We'll see about the dress when I'm done being all girly about the date." She tugged a bit at her feet, to see if that would free them up. "I had a very nice time." She had that 'you want to know, get specific girl' grin which she knew drove Lorna nuts.

Lorna let Alison pull her feet away and immediately shifted so she was sitting cross-legged on the couch facing her roommate in proper gossiping position.  "Good to hear. Did you go anywhere special?  How was dinner?"  The latter question was slightly more pointed.  Lorna had her priorities after all.

"Ooh! Moroccan restaurant! You'll so want recipes from that place but I didn't think to get you any!" A slight pause and Alison smiled lopsidedly. Our place. "I can get you some next time, though, if they don't mind sharing." She winked and looked at her nails pensively. "The club was nice." Her expression darkened though and she glared out the window, hand closing into a fist. "Except for that damn-" Shaking her head, Alison sighed, frowning.

It was an abrupt enough mood shift that Lorna couldn't just ignore it. She blinked, "That damn what?  Yankee?"

"Bigot." The word feel flat, Alison's previous good mood entirely absent as she remembered the 'fan' from the club. "Girl who approached me at the club for an autograph. I'm not repeating what she said. Haroun doesn't know, he just thinks something or other upset me before we left." She shrugged a bit, curling up at the end of the couch.

Lorna blinked again, "Whoa, wait. Some girl wanted an autograph and insulted Haroun?"  Her jaw dropped and she shook her head, "That's it, I'm so allowed to make fun of your fans forever and ever from now on."

"Yeah." Alison didn't rise to the bait however, still clearly bothered by what had happened. "I guess stabbing her with a felt tip pen might have been reacting a bit too hardly. Maybe. Or not. I should have done it, damn it." She frowned a bit more, but then shook her head. And lo and behold, the Stupid Grin was trying to creep out again. "Hrm. The rest was nice though," Alison offered, lips quirking a bit.

"Nah, just sign her forehead.  'No love, Alison Blaire, superstar,' " Lorna grinned, "So, yes, other than the inevitable stupid person, tell me about the rest.  Was there groping?" She propped her chin in her hands and looked about 12.

"Ha! Well, not last night," Alison laughed outright at that - not bothering to point out that the very morning had been a tad bit different on that level. Just a bit. "Give me a few days before the groping happens, hrm?" She winked at that, an impish gleam in her eyes. "Oh god. Did you know Miles had a List?" Because if Lorna had known, she was possible going to die messily.

Lorna's jaw dropped again, "No, seriously?  Wow, go little man.  Have I mentioned I love your son?  That is just too cool.  Can I see it?" She giggled, delighted with the very idea

"It's in code. Something he and Artie came up with." Alison chuckled ruefully, reaching over to poke Lorna in the ribs lightly. "And he ran off and hid it before I could actually get a good look at it other than the name, which was the only thing I could understand. And that was before he ran off to talk to Haroun while I was looking for him to exact retribution!"

Lorna grinned, "I'll bet he'll tell me.  I'm the Queen of the Kitchen after all." She began to plot idly ways to bribe the code out of Miles.  "What did he have to talk to Haroun about?"

"Of course he'll tell you, he pretty much worships the ground you walk on," Alison added with much amusement. "Miles wouldn’t tell me that either, of course!" She paused for a moment. "Hrm. I could have asked Haroun after, I supposed." Of course, she'd been a bit... distracted by then. Or well, very distracted, at that. And look at that, there was the Silly Grin again.

"Course he does.  Queen of the Kitchen and all that." Lorna agreed and mentally adjusted her planned bribe. "Okay, there's that look again.  What aren't you tell me?  Are you keeping groping from me?  You're bound by the Girl Code to share any and all groping stories."  She returned the poke in the ribs.

No way. Lorna had no clue that Miles had a crush on her, Alison realized, eyes widening a bit. She was easily distracted however, easily ignoring the poke in the ribs in favor of trying no to grin too widely. "Well, you asked if there was any last night," she explained virtuously.

Lorna's eyes widened and she launching herself at Alison with a squee. "There was groping!  Tell me!  When?  Had to be after I talked to him!"  She bounced down next to Alison and seized her shoulders, shaking her a bit.

Alison laughed, going along with the shaking because it was the girly thing to do - and right now, they were definitely being girly. "It wasn't exactly groping!" There had been definite propositioning, though Lorna did not need to know that. Taking a deep breath, Alison drew herself straight, managing serious for all of two seconds. "I believe Betsy would refer to it as 'mad snogging' though."

"Snogging is good.  Mad snogging implies lack of dignity." Lorna gave an approving nod.  "No wonder you look like someone clubbed you with the Happy Tree.  I take it Haroun has gotten over his little snit then?"

She didn't know about lack of dignity but oh boy, it had been more than 'just snogging'. Lorna's question provided an neat distraction however and she frowned a bit. "Snit? What snit?"

"Whoops." Lorna bit her lip and shook her head, "Never mind.  Pretend I didn't say that. Nobody here but us chickens.  You were saying about the snogging?"

"No, no, no." It hadn't even been a nice try at that. "That's all you get about the snogging. Wait until there's more snogging to talk about. What snit fit?" Alison straightened up, pulling her legs back to sit cross legged as well, frowning a bit.

Lorna hadn't put much effort into dissuading Alison because she didn't think it would be possible.  She gave in with a shrug.  "Jetstream took exception to his exclusion from the all-call last night.  I received quite the lecture."

Oooh. That. Yes. Alison hadn't been entirely pleased upon her return either - but the fact that it had been Lorna (and that Alison had been silly with giddy at the time) had contributed to a far more mellow view on things. Even though Scott's actual absence still loomed over them all. They would have to release the news to the kids soon, at this rate. "Ah. No, no he wouldn't have been happy about it."

"No, he wasn't." Lorna stretched until her back popped and shrugged again, "He didn't have a compelling reason as to why I was wrong though.  I'm more worried about Scott and Alex than I am about Haroun's feelings at this juncture anyway."

Alison couldn't help it. "Well, he was feeling just fine earlier," she purred out the words smugly, though her expression quickly turned to the serious. "We still haven't had any news from the team out there looking for him, have we?"

Lorna sighed, "Not yet, unfortunately.  They're still looking." She touched her pocket where her commbadge rested.  "I'm on call, actually.  I asked Ororo to keep me there."

A quiet nod answered her, Alison curling up a bit more snugly at the end of the couch. "I've had my own badge active all day," she shrugged a bit, not holding the previous night against Lorna in the least.

Lorna's lips quirked just a bit. "I know." She'd turned them back on as she was going off shift.  No, there was no guilt there.  Lorna could easily feel guilty about doing the needed but this wasn't even close.  No regret at all for not contacting them.

"Thank you." She didn't feel the need to specify for what or how many reasons she was thanking Lorna, really. She stretched out a bit once more, shifting from a cross legged position to curling her legs up to the side, and smiled softly to herself. There was, she thought, something to smile for, in spite of everything else.
