Meggan, Manuel, Tuesday afternoon

Amanda having cried herself to sleep after the events involving Charlie, with Manuel by her side, Meggan slips away from her sitters and goes looking for her Manda. She's not pleased to find Manuel there, nor is he especially thrilled to see her, but for Amanda's sake they both behave.

Meggan had been sensing Manda's distress for a while, but she'd had to pretend to go to sleep in order to get left alone... everyone seemed anxious to keep her distracted. Maybe they didn't think she knew, or didn't want her to get too close to the bad feelings.

She slipped out of Marie-Ange's room, and padded over to Manda's door. Not locked, good... she opened it, and tiptoed inside. Even sleeping, Manda still felt distressed... even Manuel, lying beside her and holding her gently, felt upset. Meggan scowled just a little... she still didn't like him. But Manda did, so just this once, she could put up with him. Giving him a slightly suspicious look, she padded over to the bed on Manda's side and climbed up, snuggling against Manda's side.

Manuel was snuggled up against Amanda, having offered himself as emotional support while the wytch cried herself out. She was definitely in quite a state, and he had resolved to do whatever it took to ease her time of things in this difficult time.

Didn't mean he had to like it, he thought uncharitably. She hadn't even really wanted to do anything fun, preferring instead to just cling to him.

Meggan tucked herself inside Manda's free arm, and glowered a little at Manuel. Manda had cried herself to sleep, she could see the sticky tear-marks on her face. "Manda sad," she whispered, reverting for a moment to her old way of talking. "Nobody tell me why."

Manuel looked over at the furball and sighed. Why did this sort of thing always come back to him? "She's had a very rough day." he said simply. "Her human friend took his own life today."

"Oh. That's sad." Meggan nodded, snuggling up. She didn't understand the urge, herself.... she'd struggled all her life to survive, she couldn't see why anyone would want to make themselves all dead. But it happened. Manda whimpered softly in her sleep, and Meggan nosed her cheek gently until she relaxed again. "You here to help Manda feel better?"

Manuel nodded, seeing as how Amanda was reacting badly to the voices, even as low as theirs were, near her. "He meant a lot to Amanda, and his loss has made her very sad. So I'm helping her to deal with her pain constructively." he said.

Meggan nodded, and laid her head on Manda's shoulder. "Manda likes snuggles when she's sad," she whispered as quietly as she could. "Maybe with us both here, she feel better." How anyone with such jagged and pointy insides as Manuel could make anyone feel better, she wasn't sure, but if it was working...

"I'd noticed." he said drily, forgetting for a moment that sarcasm was usually wasted on Meggan. "They make her feel good."

Meggan glared at him, still snuggled against Manda. "You try THAT, I bite you again," she told him in a firm whisper. "Manda needs snuggles, not grabby paws."

Manuel glared at Meggan. "Shush!" he said, waving his free hand at her. "I'm a human being, we have hands." he said, unable to restrain the impulse. His own control was a little - OK, a _lot_ ragged from Amanda's emotional instability.

Meggan gave him a distainful look. "It still called 'pawing'. Nathan gave me LOTS of words." Manda whimpered again, and she decided she'd better be quiet, laying her head down on Manda's shoulder again and rubbing her nose against Manda's collarbone. Nose-kisses always made Manda feel better.

Manuel counted to ten in his head. Forwards and backwards. In four languages. To help relax Amanda, he wound a strand of her hair around his finger, and then unwound it. Wound it, then unwound it.

Meggan sighed, rubbing her cheek gently against Manda's shoulder. Manuel could feel feelings too. And if he was tense and cross, it might leak over to Manda, since he could push his feelings outside himself. Carefully, she imitated the pattern she'd copied from Lusanya when they met, months ago, letting her insides go into smooth loops instead of cross tangles. When she was calm again, or as much so as she could be with Manda feeling so bad right next to her, she offered Manuel a small, monkeylike hand. "Truce?" she offered. "For Manda?"

Manuel looked at Meggan, then at her hand-paw-thing, then back at Meggan. It _would_ be the best gift he could give Amanda, and one that would go far in reducing her stress levels. "Truce." he said, shaking her hand-paw-thing as quickly as possible before letting it go.

Meggan nodded, yawning a little. "Good." She burrowed her face into Manda's neck, the way she had when she was newly rescued and couldn't sleep without Manda there, and went to sleep.

Manuel looked at Meggan and Amanda, both of them conked out cold.

There was no _way_ he was going to get to sleep any time real soon. So he resorted to novice exercises to try to get a grip. Form a flame, feed all the emotions into it until only he remained.
