Snippet: Jean at the hospital
After Jean and Alex get word of the results.
All right. He was going to be all right. He was going to be all right. He was.
Jean clung to that knowledge like it was a lifeline, like it could somehow protect her from the sobs that wracked her body. The memory of his face, covered in blood.
He was going to be all right. He was going to be all right.
Face buried in her hands, Jean cried, feeling as though the tears would never stop, as though the relief that had come with the doctors words had opened a floodgate in her heart and it had been all she could do to politely escape him and Alex, shutting the door to the restroom and locking it before she collapsed.
All right. All right. All right. All right. All right.
Eventually, she would have to get up and go back out there. Would need to discuss Scott's treatments with his doctors and reassure Alex and let the mansion know and sit and wait for Scott to wake up so she could take care of him.
But for now, Jean simply curled up on the cold floor and cried.
