Scott and Alex, Sunday

Alex has something of a surprise for Scott. His brother sees right through it, of course. Grandparents don't generally devote a whole plane to just flying down a plate of cookies, even if they do own their own air service.

The light coming through the window was... orange, Scott thought dimly as he watched it. Clearly, a sunset-type orange, since that was the time of day it was. Not at all red, either.

Nudging the door open with his shoulder, Alex moved into the room, grinning when he saw Scott was up and awake. He set down the box he was holding on a nearby chair and waked over to stand by the bed, hands in his pockets. "You know, even though you can see normally now and all...that morning with Miles is still one of the best days of my life."

Scott took a deep, somewhat unsteady breath - calmly, he told himself - and then looked at his brother. No telltale burning sensation appeared behind his eyes. Thankfully. "I look back on that kind of fondly myself," he murmured. "You look like you slept a little better last night..."

"I did...how about you?" He sat down by Scott's knees, grinning up at his brother. "The shock seems to be wearing off a bit."

It was. A little. But one slip, Scott knew, and he'd be back to refusing to open his eyes. "I'll feel better when the frighteningly intelligent redheads figure out what's going on," he said, shifting a little on the bed. "Suppose that might have to wait until we're home, though..."

"Hey, don't worry so much." Alex reached forward and put a hand over one of Scott's. "If there's one thing I've learned recently, is don't look a miracle in the mouth." He nodded firmly then got up to open the box he brought in.

"Please don't tell me that's more flowers," Scott said with a trace of amusement. "People seem to be lucking out, picking the kinds that make me sneeze..."

Alex just smirked. "You kidding? What I bring is better then flowers..." And pulled out a plastic wrapped plate of Grandma Summers chocolate chip cookies.

Scott stared in disbelief. "How..." The origin of the cookies was unmistakable. Hell, it was even on one of Deborah's plates. "What, you had Clarice teleport you to Alaska...?"

"Worse. She had one of Grandpa's planes fly them down. Apparently she didn't want to risk teleportation messing with them after she heard about the sulfur smell Kurt makes." Still grinning, Alex carefully unwrapped the plate and brought it over to the bed.

Scott stared, at Alex this time. "... they're here, aren't they?" he asked finally, quietly, as he took a cookie.

Alex bit his lower lip. "If I say yes, will you pretend I didn't? They wanted to surprise you..."

Scott gave Alex another half-smile. "Shouldn't have brought out the cookies, then. But yeah, I will..." He took a bite of the cookie. "I might be out of here tomorrow. Good news, huh?"

Taking one for himself then setting the plate aside, Alex took his spot back on the bed. "It was Grandma's idea." He shrugged slightly. "They're back at the hotel, resting before coming to see you. But you'll be out tomorrow? That' great news bro!"

"There's no infection, and Jean's told the doctors here that we're pretty well-equipped back in Westchester, so." It would be good to be home. It would be better to be out of this damned hospital and away from all fluttery nurses.

Alex rolled his eyes playfully but it was obvious that he was thrilled. "I think Jean wants to get you home so she'll be the only nurse who gets to fuss over you. She practically steams whenever she walks by the nurses station. Seems your one of the better looking patients in this hall." He winked at Scott. "Even with the one eye and all."

"I'll have romantic scars, too, I gather." Scott reflected that his appetite was actually returning a little, because the cookie tasted good. With his luck, though, Helga would walk in and start scolding him about eating that instead of the damned Jello.

"Ahh come on, it sets you for more attention back home. Hopefully, Jean will be too worried to feel guilty." Sighing softly, Alex both couldn't wait and wasn't looking forward to going home to Lorna. He hoped she wadn't regressed while he was in Seattle. "And stop worrying about Helga. She's better then Annie. If that girl pinchs my butt one more time..." He groaned softly.

"One of the nurses is pinching you? Need to wear a sign saying 'Taken', I guess." Scott finished off his cookie and then rubbed at his jaw, wincing. "Okay. It hurts to eat. That's... not a lot of fun."

"I tried to tell her but I don't think she believed me." Since he finished his own cookie, Alex unconsiously rubbed the sight of the lastest attack before moving to put the treats away. "Yeah but come on...it was so worth it right?"

"Little taste of heaven," Scott murmured wryly. "I guess... Charles would have talked to the grandparents? Need to know how much they got told..." It would have had to be the basics, to explain what he was doing in Seattle minus an eye. Not that Scott didn't think Phillip had been suspecting something for a while now.

"Actually, I did. I didn't know much about what was going on anyway due to being cloistered with Lorna so I didn't have to lie.Grandma wouldn't listen, she was too worried about you. Grandpa on the other hand..." Alex shrugged. That had been careful going.

They'd have to be told something, Scott knew, in the way of more details. Something he could talk about with Charles, he supposed. "It'll be good to see them... no pun intended."

"You know, you don't have to keep saying that." Alex winked again as replaced the plate in the box. "We know."
