Ghost of a Chance - Early Wednesday Afternoon
Jennie sees something in one of the classrooms, and for some reason it unsettles her.
Jennie whistled to herself cheerily. Crystal should be feeling what she had done to her shoes about now. Nothing too serious, just a little bit of bad luck. A neat little trick Jennie'd perfected in recent months. Her brain nagged at her that it probably wasn't very mature of her, but Crystal had thrown a kink in her carefully laid plans. It had taken her and Marius a good long while to figure out how to break curfew without getting caught, and now they would have to figure something out all over again
Jennie sighed as she pushed open the door to the unused classroom, magazine tucked under one arm. She needed space, and the classroom would be empty.
Or not.
Jennie jerked in surprise, seeing two figures seated by the window. "I'm sorry," she said quickly, and turned to go, before she recognized them. "Marius? Manuel?" Neither of them looked up at her. They looked like they were whispering conspiratorially.
Jennie blinked again. This had to be another of those damn visions. Manuel was still in Europe. Jennie was considering chucking the magazine at them to "pop" the vision, when Marius turned and looked towards her. Jennie put a hand to her mouth.
His eyes were orange, in a sea of black. And Manuel had the mouths on his palms. The vision faded, like a polaroid going in reverse.
Jennie backed out of the classroom, unsettled.
