Dani and Catseye - Monday night

Another cat-in-bed log. But Dani knows The Way Things Are so she doesn't need to get bitten.

Dani's bed had always been one of Catseye's favourite sleeping spots. It was warm and soft just like most of the other beds in the mansion, but the thing that made it a favoured spot was the fact that Dani was such a great bed-mate. She was warm and soft and she knew Catseye's favourite skritching places and she understood when to pet and when to sleep. And she didn't have another human in bed with her doing NotSleeping things with her while they both ignored the cat. Yes, Dani was definitely her bedmate of choice for tonight. Several nights of interrupted sleep had brought Catseye to that conclusion. Not to mention the fact that she hadn't napped in Dani's bed since returning to the school.

Catseye leapt onto the bed lightly and wasted no time curling up by Dani's shoulder, rumbling purrs vocalizing her contentment as she kneaded her claws into the mattress.

Dani was a light sleeper not by choice, but by virtue of her powers. When she slept her shields were relaxed and that inevitably led to nightmares and the occassional roaming mirage. Fortunantly, those rarely happened now and only the person affected could see them, no one else. So when Catseye jumped in her bed she woke immediately and adjusted herself for the cat after she realized that it was Catseye. "HaƔahe," she half mumbled, technically Cheyenne for hello, but in her sleepy state could have been either English or Cheyenne. "O'ha'e'ov," she continued. She had missed the cat while she was gone.

"Mrrrt!" The lavender cat shifted into the warm spot vacated by Dani's adjusting and inched up from the sleepy woman's shoulder until she was at eye level with Dani. She didn't know what the brunette had said, but could guess at the general sentiment behind the strange words. Make up for missed time now, she thought, nosing Dani's cheek and flicking her tail against Dani's arm, pet the cat.

Reaching up to scrarch Catseye behind the ears, Dani cracked one eye open absently, wondering how she had gotten in the room. In theory, the suite she shared with Jan should have been locked to both people and cats. Then she realized, Catseye was a cat, and that was all the explanation needed. Cats could do strange and mysterious things, even when they weren't mutant girls. "Forge's bed's too crowded, huh?" she asked, an amused smile on her face.

Catseye curled her lip back and showed Dani a gleaming canine tooth in response to this. Yes. Catseye likes BreadCookingGirl's bed better than ShinyBitsBoy's and WarmSnugglyFriend's. She headbutted Dani's cheek goodnaturedly, not one to dwell on unpleasantries. Catseye is still glad to be back. There are still more warm beds here than with BigBrother, even if some are too crowded.

Taking the headbutt as orders to pet more, Dani did, laying there contentedly with Catseye. "There's roast beef in the fridge," she mentioned, "I'm getting more pastrami tomorrow," everyone knew how much Catseye loved pastrami, but she would eat any meat basically. It had almost become a running joke and a good source of bribery, though really, Catseye would accept the pastrami and do whatever it was she had planned all along, just like any other cat.

Setting herself to the important task of purring to let Dani know just how pleased she was, Catseye snuggled against Dani and increased her volume. Pastrami and petting All The Best Spots. BreadCookingGirl is one of Catseye's Very Favourite Humans.
