Julian and Callie: Getting the story straight

After hearing about what happened between Julian and Angel, Callie decides to track down her friend and hear his side.

"Julian wait up," Callie exclaimed as she ran down the hall. "I've been looking all over for you." As soon as she had heard what had happened with Angel, she felt the pressing need to find him and speak with him. Knowing it would do no good to talk to him when he was still fresh from the fight. Give him a few days to cool off, maybe then they'd both be less likely to say something stupid. She sprinted past him in order to cut off his path.

"First off, I'm not mad at you. And second off, well walk with me." Without waiting for a response, Callie hooked her arm in his as the two ambled along.

With only a moment's hesitation- leading to a stumbling start down the walk- Julian began moving with Callie. He sighed, "Not mad about what? The fact that I was an asshat...again?"

"Well yeah. I mean I heard about what happened with Angel," she explained as she led him around. "I mean not all of it, but enough to know that you're an ass, but I know that you know that you're an ass. What I want to know," she stopped and stared at him, "is what exactly happened and why."

"Okay, provided that I am an asshole, but it's not like Angelica is this innocent party in all of this." Julian let his arm drop out of Callie's and paused in the middle of the hallway. "And why does it matter? Things are fucked up and won't be getting better anytime soon."

"I know it takes two to tango, that's why I'm asking you what happened instead of relying on the Xavier rumor mill." She said it as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. Boys were a little dense at times. "Did you really insinuate that you only wanted to have sex with her?"

A little more than shock showed on Julian's face, "What?! No! Of course not- come on Callie, what kind of guy do you think I am?" He straightened out his black shirt, obviously it had not been changed in a day at least. "I may have crossed a line with something like that, but that is so not what I said."

She had to give him the benefit of the doubt; after all she hadn't been there. "So tell me what you said because I didn't want to think you were, but that's what I heard."

Julian shrugged and took a few, slow, steps down the hallway again, glad that Callie wasn't placing the blame squarely on him after all. "After she decided to say that my parents don't love me and hers do, I felt the need to lash out and- well, I guess I mumbled it, didn't actually want her to hear until she insisted. That I should just take Inez up on her offer for a little fun since she's not interested."

"We've already established that you're kind of an ass and say stuff without thinking right? Of course right." She continued beside him. "So I guess my question is do you want to take Inez up on her offer? Is that all you want is to have sex or whatever? And... wait," she stopped," Angel said that about your parents? And don't think you can just answer that and not my other questions. But really?"

"Yeah, I was surprised too." With a shake of the head he continued, "And no, I thought I wanted Angel back, but if she's going to be like that...I don't know. And yeah, I do like Inez, we have a lot in common and all, but it wouldn't be fair to Angel so..." Julian shrugged.

"Like what? Insulting your family or not putting out?"

"Seriously?"

"I'm only teasing." Beat. "Mostly. Because you know that if you become one of those jerks who uses and loses then I get to hurt you." Shut pulled him into a tight hug. "Right? I just wanted to make sure to clear that up. For future reference, in case it ever comes up, not that I'll expect it to." Callie gave him a comforting squeeze.

"Why did she insult your family?" She had a feeling there was more to this story than anyone really knew.

"You shouldn't have to worry about that. And she insulted my family because she knows it bothers me." Keller let the hug drop abruptly. "It seems like she just wants to hurt me now."

"You hurt her. But I don't know, I tend to believe that 'an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.'"

"Yeah, but the difference is that I've actually made an attempt to make things better. Okay, so apparently I kissed Esme at the prom in front of her- dude, I can't even remember it clearly." He stopped in midstep again, "I know I didn't really want to and then I remember kissing her. Then I try to talk to her and she shuts me out. I give her some space and Manuel," there was an edge of venom in his voice, "sets us up on a date. She then blames ME for it and insults my family." He ruffled slightly, "And you tell me that I'm an ass?"

"You know when I call you an ass it's out of love. And you're not really an ass, you just happen to say assish things that get around more than they should. And you kinda insinuated something that puts you in the ass category." Sigh. "Listen I don't know what to tell you, or what you should do. You've tried everything you can think of to apologize and it's not working. So just do me a favor and if someone tries to get you together with her again or whatever, just be civil even if the situation isn't?"

With a moment's hesitation, Julian reluctantly grumbled an affirmative. "I'm trying to stay away from her again and now I have to add Yvette to that list...again."

"Everyone makes mistakes Julian. And you still have me."

And for that, he was very grateful.
