Lorna and Angel (BACKDATED)
Lorna and Angel contemplate and discuss the recent events.
Angel was rubbing her eyes as she dragged her tired body towards hers and Lorna's suite. She'd been wandering with her laptop from place to place since she'd seen the news Friday - the common area, the library, she'd even sat outside of Sooraya's and Yvette's door for a little bit.
"Hey," she said as she walked into the suite and saw Lorna watching TV - the news. The news that had been running the same story about the bombing since it had happened. "How are you?" Stupid question, of course...
Lorna had just finished her sandwich that Scott had brought by earlier when her suite mate walked in. "A bit better now that I have eaten something..." Lorna said and moved over on the couch for Angel to it. "I am pretty pissed off to be honest. You?"
"Same," Angel admitted as she sat down, setting her laptop on the floor. "And pretty freaked out. And worried. And confused. And kind of wishing I had a time machine so I could go back to Friday and...I don't know, blow up the bus or something before any of them got on it. Stop them from going, you know? Like wishing is going to do any good, but I mean..." Angel waved her hands, a bit helplessly. "It's not like I can do much else right now. Until someone says suit up, we're pretty much stuck, right?"
"I think most of us are wishing the same thing." Lorna said with a sigh. "Pretty much." Saying in response to Angel waiting comment. "I just cannot believe they think they can get away with this and call it justice. Really it is blackmail. I can only imagine what their parents are going to think when they find out their children were taking by another country."
"It's...it's sick," Angel managed to say after a minute, shaking her head. She hadn't even thought about parents - one more miserable aspect to this whole situation. "I don't get it. I mean, I do - I just can't wrap my head around it. In the end, all they've managed to do is scare a bunch of kids and tick off some very powerful mutants. And they're out of their minds if they think everyone is actually going to sit down and shut up the way they want them to. It's pointless. Of course, if there is a point, I'm probably not twisted and crazy enough to get it."
Lorna nodded, "I agree. They have no point. They are monsters, every single person holding office in Genosha. They have no soul." She whispered. "I don't get their point either. Saying we are terrorists and to prove the point they kidnap a bunch of kids, kids!" Throwing up her hands and turned the channel, she had heard enough about the news.
Angel watched the channel change over, not even seeing what Lorna turned on. It was probably for the best; driving themselves nuts watching that footage over and over wasn't going to help. Eyes still on the TV she reached over, resting a hand on Lorna's shoulder and giving a light squeeze. It wasn't much, but it was the most comfort she could offer at the moment. "They're monsters," she agreed wholeheartedly. "But...that's what we're for, right? Stop the bad guys, beat the monsters."
Leaning back into the couch, Lorna nodded. "Yup. Just wish that the monsters wasn't an entire country." Sighing heavily.
Oh right...there was that, wasn't it? Angel swallowed hard, drawing her legs up and tucking them under herself so she was sitting Indian-style and resting her elbows on her knees. "That does complicate things a bit," she agreed with a sigh of her own. "But...natural order. The bad guys always lose." Idealistic, but she had to believe that. If she didn't...she wasn't going to have much left.
Looking over at Angel, "Yes. They will lose. No one kidnaps children and gets away with it." They had to believe something, despite that the odds were against them.
