Sooraya & Angelo
On their way to Muir, Angelo and Sooraya have a talk.
Sooraya settled into her chair at the window after the plane had taken of and had leveled of. She had not been looking forward to the long flight after the one back home from Genosha, but her wish to see Nathan and Moira easily overrode any hesitation she had in that regard. She looked to the side for a moment where Angelo was seated between her and Amanda. Her big brother seemed kinda distant and she reached over, putting her hand over his somewhat hesitantly. "Angelo?"
He'd been staring out of the plane window over Sooraya's head and jerked slightly when she touched him before coming back to the real world. "Sooraya. Sorry."
"You seemed so far away. I was wondering if you were still here with us..." She asked, keeping her voice low in deference to the other passengers around them.
That got a slight shrug. "More or less. I just zoned out."
That got him a small smile. "That is good..." She looked down at her lap, unsure about meeting his eyes. "I was a little... worried... Especially after... well..." Sooraya let her voice trail of, not wanting to say it out loud.
"I'm alive." There was nothing in his voice, at all. "The rest will follow."
She winced at the emptiness in his voice, but folded her hand around his and gently squeezed. "Something will follow and someday it will make sense again." She agreed, fighting to keep her fear out of her voice. "Someday it will." Even if she could not quite see it herself at the moment.
He turned his hand in hers to squeeze back, which at least was some sort of response. "Not sure about that. But I'll find something that does."
The little smile returned and she tightened her hand even more. "You will." Things weren't a done deal... Not if it was up to her. "I still do need my big brother..." As soon as she had said it, she hit her mouth behind her hand. "Uh... oh..."
"What?" He looked at her sideways. "You've said that before."
"Ummm..." Sooraya hastily looked for words. "I know I have said that before... but..." She lowered her voice even more. "You have enough on your plate now... I didn't want to burden you any more..."
"You're not a burden.", he said quietly. "Don't think like that. Not you too."
Sooraya reached over with the other hand, cupping Angelo's in both of hers and nodded. "I will." She hesitated for moment. "The little sister just wants to take care of her big brother also..."
"I know." He mustered a shadow of a smile. "Her big brother does appreciate it."
At the sight of that shadow she returned it with a bigger smile then before. "And she is very glad with that."
