Training with Sooraya and Rogue

Training doesn't have to be all work and no play...

The only thing she could do when she entered the gym was laugh. Sooraya and Marie had agreed to do some training, but this is not what she'd pictured. "You look like you're on vacation and not ready to do some training?"

Rogue grinned and laid back down on the pile of beanbags she'd formed into a chair. "What, this ol' thing? Why this is our very high-tech, amazing training sugar, and it's ready for us all. I mean, unless you wanna risk the Danger Room?" She left the question dangling in the air. Even though she'd missed all the excitement (which was a pity, considering Logan seemed to have enjoyed himself), at the same time she was glad she was busy catching up at Bayville during the debacle. She didn't know how she would have handled that.

"I think I'm gonna wait a bit till our very esteemed scientists and programmers have tested the room themselves. Who knows, they might end up in The Purge or something like that." Sooraya shook her head at the memory. "Luckily I didn't have it too bad. I was some kind of hacker in the Star Wars story. Was even kinda fun."

"Star Wars?" Rogue laughed. "Yeah, again -- super happy to be here. I heard ladies don't wear underwear in space." Sitting up a bit, she tossed a beanbag in Sooraya's direction. "We're going old school for this session. Test your dust out." From an unknown pocket, Rogue pulled out sunglasses. "See? Already came prepared."

Sooraya grinned: "So what are we going to do with your sunglasses that would test my dust? Polish them?"

"Kind of." Tossing a beanbag in the air, Rogue tilted her neck and crossed her legs. "What we're going to do here is some batting practice. I mean, you got your dust form going good and all, but let's work on some accuracy. I think if you practiced a bit more, you'd be even more efficient with those little shards you make. So I'll toss these at you and you try to hit me." The older woman gave a wink before putting her glasses on. "And I don't want sand in my eyes, so there we go. Let me know when you're ready!"

"This almost sounds like you want to play." Sooraya teased as she backed up and prepared to shift. "Though I've to say I kinda like it! Alright, give it your best shot!" With those words she shifted, hovering expectantly.

Rogue only laughed in response as she stood up, beanbags in both hands. Throwing them at Sooraya, she was reminded that she hadn't played baseball for a long time. Her aim was just as bad as she remembered and it made her giggle more. Still, she managed to get a few at Sooraya, and ducked just in time to avoid getting hit in the face. "You're better than I am at this."

Sooraya formed some sand in the shape of a smiley and quickly followed up with a toss right in the middle of Marie's belly. The smiley shifted and now it was poking out it's tongue at Marie.

Her friend's powers had always intrigued Rogue. What would it feel like to complete transform your body? Even with the powers she'd absorbed, she'd never had that ability. Her new powers always worked with her current body, which was of course fine. Easily side-stepping the sand, giggling over the smiley-face, she whipped two beanbags. "Remember, you have to hit accurately AND hard. Give me bruises, woman!"

Two tendrils of sand folded themselves around the bean bags, whipping them back to Marie, aiming for the middle of the torso as much as possible. The smiley turned into a frowny one when Marie flew up to evade them, another slender tendrils of sand forming 'NOT FAIR' in a looping script.

"Ain't nothing far in love and war, sugar," Rogue responded back from her position in the air. "Besides, remember? This is training not just 'hit Rogue and laugh' time. So there. Come on, let's go." Always prepared, she had a few beanbags in her hand, and she threw them straight at Sooraya's head.

Sooraya caught them easily again, but this time she didn't return them almost immediately. Instead she pulled together, shifting from a cloud of sand with many tendrils to form her sandman shape. Now she could just pitch them as she were human and two bags quickly flew through the air, aimed for the X on Marie's shirt.

Rogue allowed the hit, and let herself fly down backwards onto the pile with an 'omph'. "Now that was some good thinkin', sugar! Got some spunk to ya yet!" This is what she wanted to see. Sooraya letting go, and just focusing on being as creative as possible. Being invulnerable, Rogue barely felt anything so she could take it. "I'm lovin' this creativity!! Show me what else ya got, and don't hold back! Remember -- I can always absorb Logan if I need to and that's always fun." Oh yeah, there was a wink there.

So it was creative what she wanted... even in sand form her mouth formed into a smirk. Throwing her 'arm' forward she shifted it in a kind of giant spoon and scooped up a large portion of the bean bags before pulling it back to her. Making sure the bags were evenly spaced out around them, Sooraya shifted both arms into a mess of tendrils. Quickly she scooped up one bean bag with each tendrils, she aimed and let loose with about fifteen bean bags at once.

The fact that her friend was making it rain with beanbags made Rogue laugh even harder. She was thoroughly enjoying herself, and look at that -- didn't even need a Danger Room session to make training fun. Keeping an eye on the bags, Rogue punched them all back at Sooraya, sending them soaring. Some would make the mark, some wouldn't, and that was half the fun. You never know what to expect when out on the field.

With a little effort she split her attention and about half of tendrils started gathering the bags that had fallen to the ground or even plucking them from the air, passing them on as munition for the other half of the tendrils to keep firing. Sooraya's grin widened. When you created an overwhelming force, accuracy was not that important anymore, so she focused on flinging the bags as quick and efficiently as possible.

Rogue's eyes widened in pleasant surprise as her smile threated to burst. She didn't even care that she was getting pelted with the beanbags. "Yes! That's what I'm talking about! Don't hold back, girl!" And to emphasize her point, she grabbed a huge handful of bags and threw them right at Sooraya, full force. She was using her full strength here, and happily.

Sooraya grinned mentally, her mind shifting quickly as another tactic to deal with many objects occurred to her. She sent the final few bags on their way, then her sandform exploded into a thin sheet of sand. When the huge handful stuck, the sand didn't stop them directly, but it bent with them like a elastic net and then it shot back, much like a slingshot. Her mental grin broadened as the mass of bags now flew back directly at Marie.

Now that was unexpected. The sheer weight of the bags threw her right down, and she lifted an arm up. "I give up! Surrender!" Rogue was full blown giggling though, and she laid there for a while, catching her breath. "I think that right there deserves some ice cream sundaes or something. Chocolate, whipped cream, nuts...all of it! And you can tell me where you came up with those ideas!"
