Jean and Garrison: Valentine's Day (Backdated)
Jean and Garrison spend some time in Lake Tahoe for Valentine's Day.
Snow covered the ground as Jean and Garrison waited for their turn to get on the gondola that would take them up Lake Tahoe's Heavenly Mountain. The sun was getting low, promising a spectacular sunset view.
"Not a bad way to spend Valentine's Day," Jean said with a smile.
"Kind of a perfect way to spend it." Kane said, his grin white against his beard.
Leaning in to give Garrison a kiss, Jean then pulled his hat down a little lower on his head. "I brought some hot chocolate," she said, holding up a thermos.
"Figured the air up there'll be chilly and we'd need a bit of warmth...you know, besides the cuddling."
:"Oh well, if you want to snuggle in for tonight instead of skiing I support that." He said with a nudge to her.
Jean laughed. "Actually, that was the plan," she said, tapping his chest.
"The skiing's tomorrow. Tonight's all about spectacular views and delicious food, with a little bit of dessert."
"Aw, you found out I consider you both a spectacular view and a bit of dessert." He said as he took the thermos from her. The gondola was only supposed to take fifteen minutes or so, but plenty of time to share a drink as he poured the cup lid full for them.
The comment garnered a knowing wink. "Have you been to Lake Tahoe before? This my first visit," Jean said, nodding her thanks as she took a sip.
"Never. I did some skiing in the Rockies when I was stationed in Vancouver. Whistler mostly. I had to stop competitive sports after my powers manifested at 15, and it took me awhile to find new ones to replace them. My hometown is not the best place if you love to ski."
"I've tried a little skiing in Europe but it's been a few years," Jean admitted. She also had her powers at the time to secretly keep herself upright, so this would have a small learning curve. Still, she was up for the challenge.
"Why was your hometown bad for skiing?"
"Ontario is not blessed with a lot of mountains or good ski slopes. Blue Mountain, our closest one, was more of a practice slope compared to the Rockies." He took a sip of his chocolate.
Jean raised an eyebrow, smirking over the rim of her cup. “So what you’re saying is, I should be worried you’re going to leave me in the snow while you carve up the slopes like a pro?”
She nudged his shoulder. “I’ll have you know, I have some experience. It’s been a while, though too, so if you hear screaming tomorrow, just assume it’s me going down the mountain way faster than I meant to.”
Taking another sip, she shook her head. “No telekinetic help unfortunately this time. Just raw talent… and maybe a little bit of luck.”
"The opposite. I grew up on baby hills. You're going to have to dig me out of a snow drift once you're done with your run."
"Oh trust me, I am not that impressive," Jean said with a laugh. "Maybe we can figure it out together."
"Love that. At least we can figure out hot chocolate at the chalet once we're both done tumbling down the expensive mountain." He said with a grin.
"Hopefully they have just that and not mice as some extra roommates..." Jean said, making a face as she remembered the Nevada escapade.
"OK, just a warning. If you want sex later, please don't mention the clown hotel. It's like reverse Viagra." He nudged her.
Jean laughed. "Noted," she mused.
