Angelo and Shinobi
They talk at the party, and end up making a deal to hammer certain things into each other's heads when needed.
In a break from dancing, Angelo headed over to grab some food and drink from the catering table. Spotting Shinobi nearby, he wandered over that way with the intention of congratulating him on pulling it off so well.
Madelyn had slipped off to make sure her roommate wasn't going completely insane, so Shinobi was by himself, hands tucked in his pockets as he quietly people-watched. It was a nice break from the schmoozing. Still, he spotted Angelo approaching in short order, and offered him a grin. "Having fun?"
Angelo grinned back. "Yeah, I really am. It's goin' well."
"So far, so good," Shinobi agreed, looking back over the crowd without losing his grin. "If there have been any explosions, they've at least been quiet enough so as not to disturb the party, which is all you can ask for, really."
Angelo chuckled. "Very true. Clarice's parents behavin'?"
"As far as I know, anyway," Shinobi chuckled. "If they don't, the bouncers'll worry about it so I don't have to." He shrugged, and looked to Angelo again. "Don't tell me you're here without Paige on your arm?"
Angelo pointed across the dance floor with a grin. "No, she's here. Just came to get some food."
Shinobi rose onto his toes to look in the indicated direction, and beamed. "Ah-ha, there she is. I may have to make plaintive eyes at you to trade dates for a dance sometime tonight."
Angelo chuckled. "Oh, that's probably manageable. Who's your date?"
"Madelyn," Shinobi grinned, quite pleased. "I think she's off making sure Shan and Cecilia haven't tried to sneak out the back and go home, or something."
Angelo laughed. "Oh, surely not. Shan wouldn't let Cecilia do that, at least."
"Bribery might be involved," Shinobi observed, keeping his grin. "But, you're likely right. Fingers crossed."
Angelo looked amused. "Maybe if you send one of the security guys to watch the back door?" he suggested lightly.
Shinobi shook his head, grinning innocently. "Already security back there," he observed casually. "Just not looking for guests on their way out. No big."
Angelo grinned back. "You havin' fun, in between runnin' the party?"
"I am, actually," Shinobi nodded, smiling brightly. "As horrible as it is, it feels nice to be surrounded by money for a night. I love the school, but this is a different vibe, you know?"
Angelo nodded. "It's what you knew before you came to the mansion. Makes sense you'd miss it once in a while."
Shinobi nodded, actually seeming a bit relieved. "Exactly. Just vaguely pouty that Sarah won't let me drag her along for these, but.. ah well."
Angelo grinned wryly. "Maybe someday. She's let you talk her into flyin' before now, after all."
"That's true," Shinobi admitted. "I'm just not very patient, I guess.. at least not as patient when it comes to something that's such a big part of who I am." He shrugged helplessly. "Working on it."
Angelo nodded. "All you can do", he reminded him quietly. "We've all got stuff we need to work on. You'll get there."
Shinobi nodded, smiling tiredly. "I certainly hope so. Just keep reminding me so I don't forget."
Angelo grinned crookedly. "Will do. Might need remindin' of a few things every so often myself."
"You hammer it into my head, I'll hammer it into yours?" Shinobi offered helpfully, regaining his grin as he looked out over the crowd again. "Just need to figure out where to do it, since I don't hit the porch anymore. Any ideas?"
Angelo thought. "Rec room? Or the dock's quite nice, if it's not rainin'..."
"Rec room would work," Shinobi replied thoughtfully. "I'd be all for the dock, but it's so close to Mister Marko's place, so it doesn't necessarily lend itself very well to privacy or headache-free talking."
Angelo nodded. "Good point. Rec room works, then... or there's a bench out in the woods I don't think many people know about yet."
Shinobi made a thoughtful noise. "If you can show me where it is, we can do that," he agreed, flashing a grin.
"It's a deal", Angelo answered. "Found it when I was out lookin' for somewhere quiet to think... Paul found it first, but I shouldn't think he'd mind one more person usin' it."
"I can make puppy dog eyes at him to let me share it, or find some way to bribe him," Shinobi chuckled. "Should be alright."
Angelo grinned. "All sounds good, then."
