Lorna's suite, dinner time

Lorna and Alex have dinner and discuss their days. Alex is less than thrilled about Lorna's plans for the week.

Lorna finished setting the table and went to fuss with the salad some more. She was nervous and fidgeted to cover it. Alex would be getting home soon and she would have to tell him about what Remy had asked her. And that she’d accepted. It was really too bad that neither of them drank.

Running up the stairs, his board under his arm, Alex checked in with Scott before he entered Lorna's suite. He'd spent a good couple of hours outside, skating off his troubles. Now he felt so much better and he was beaming as he dumped the board in a corner and went over to kiss Lorna on the cheek. "Hey sweetheart. What's for dinner?"

“Spaghetti. I’m being lazy.” She hugged him back and gestured to the refrigerator. “Grab something to drink, hon. I’m done here.”

"Want anything?" He asked as he stuck his head in the fridge and pulled out a carton of milk. He looked over to her as her grabbed a glass and poured the milk into it.

“Nah, I have my coffee.” She sent the pasta and sauce to the table, still in their pots and carried the salad over. “How was your day?” The longer he talked about his day the longer she put off telling him about hers.

Alex shrugged as he put the carton away and brought his glass over to the table and sat down. "Not much. Classes, then before I went skating for a bit, I talked with Scott in the kitchen. Had to insist he go to bed after cheering him up a bit. Nothing real exciting." He took a large sip of milk then asked, "So how as yours?"

“Did he eat before you sent him to bed?” she asked instead of answering his question. She’d left a metric ton of food in the kitchen. The more people who ate it the better.

"No but he need sleep more then food at the moment. You can help me nag him later when he wakes up." He began putting food on his plate. "So what did you do today?" He was in such a good mood he didn't even notice he'd asked the question twice.

Damn. “Cooked some, obviously. Finished some homework for geo. Trained a bit. Agreed to go to Europe with Remy. Made dinner.” She chattered like it was all just usual and took a large helping of salad.

Alex paused in picking up spaghetti, it falling off the fork and back into the pot. He blinked a couple times at her before sputtering, "What about Europe and Remy?"

Damn again. “Um. Remy needs to go to Europe for some X-work” well, if you stretched it, “and needs back up as well as a cover story.” She poked at her salad then set her fork down.

Alex crossed his arms on the table, leaning on them for support. "What kind of cover story does he need you for?" He hated to say it, but he was beginning to feel jealous.

“We’re posing as a married couple,” she sighed, “It wasn’t my idea but it is the one that makes the most sense. Nothing’s going to happen. It’s not like he doesn’t know that I’m madly in love with you.” She leaned across the table and offered him her hand. “I’ll only be gone until Thursday.”

He bit his lip as he first stared at her hand, before sighing and taking it, squeezing it. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous, but have fun anyway. I'll miss you terribly." He smiled as he went back to putting pasta on his plate.

“I’ll miss you more. There’s nothing to be jealous of. Remy is just a friend and this is work anyway.” She gave him a reassuring smile. “Think of it as an opportunity to spend more time with Shiro. He’ll be glad to see me out of the country at least.”

"Oh don't say that, he does not!" Alex grinned as he rolled his eyes. "And your right, I should take this opportunity to make it up to him. When did you get so smart?"

“I’ve always been this brilliant. Now I’m just sneaky too.” She went back to poking at her salad. “Scott knows about this too, actually. And I’ll be reporting back.”

"Alright well as long as big brother approves." He nodded to her plate after a bite of his own salad. "You need to eat."

She made a face at him and took a bite of salad, making a point of chewing and swallowing. “Happy?” She stabbed another bite and smiled. “So what did you and Scott talk about?”

Alex grinned in response. "Just making sure you keep yourself healthy so you can go to Europe. And not much..." Now it was his turn to stab at his food. "I told him about me moving in you and he uh...assumed we were....you know."

Lorna’s eyes widened. “Oh. What did you, um, tell him?” Oh god, how was it at all fair that her boss was her boyfriend’s brother.

"Well, that we weren't and he apologized for assuming..." Alex couldn't help it, he made a face. "Then he offered advice. That was just..." He shuddered involuntarily. "Not mental pictures I wanted thank you very much!"

Lorna gave momentary thought to Scott offering advice then Scott taking the advice. She bit her lip to keep from smiling and hoped she wasn’t blushing. Alex may have thought it was a terrible mental image. Lorna disagreed. “I think we’ll manage fine on our own.”

"When the time comes but we aren't going to worry about that right now. So where is Remy taking you in three days?" He was anxious for a change in topic and speared some noodles onto his fork.

She nodded. She’d have preferred a different topic but went along with it. “Paris. I have no idea what I’m going to wear.”
