Friday morning, Music Room, Terry and Alison

Terry's lack of control during a voice lesson gives way to a short conversation about a dilemma Terry is having. Alison asks questions and lets Terry come to her own answers.

Terry's concentration was shot, something made blatantly obvious by the third loss of control in what would have been otherwise a relatively simple four part harmony. The earshattering scream never made it past her teacher, of course. Terry looked at her and grimaced, "I'm sorry, Alison. I'll start again." Given that was the second time, she'd said that particular sentence--the first had involved more cursing--she was starting to look a little run down.

"Actually, why don't we take a break?" Alison suggested, giving the girl a somewhat pensive look. Just as Terry could sometimes manage to be entirely unreadable, oft times she managed to be the complete opposite. And then some. "I could do with a break, and I think you could too."

"I'm really sorry," Terry apologized again, sitting down on the piano bench next to Alison. She picked out a few notes on the keyboard, playing by ear more than anything. "I don't know what's wrong with me today."

"Something's bothering you?" Alison asked calmly, indulging in a few moments so stretch her hands out. The now back to regular guitar practice made that mandatory, ever now and then. "A lot's been going on, lately. On the small and big levels." Terry continued to play one-handed, wondering idly if she could convince Alison to let her pick up piano lessons in addition to her guitar lessons. Something about being well-rounded maybe. "I don't know. It's nothing, really." Knowing Alison would let her get away with that if she wanted to Terry sighed and continued. "The SoG thing? I don't know what to do."

"Aaah." Nodding, Alison shifted a bit, giving Terry that much more space on the bench to reach the keys. "Well, why do you feel you should do something in the first place?" She watched Terry's playing idly, though passed no comments as of yet.

"Jubilee sent me an email. I mean, she sent us all emails explaining afterward but before that, she emailed me to ask if I wanted to be a part of it." Terry played slowly, carefully picking out chords rather than risk hitting a wrong note. "Kitty said in the journals that they were getting together to help. But I asked Jubilee that and…" she hesitated, not sure where the next note was. "That's not what she told me."

What Jubilee had told Terry wasn't important, so much as Terry's issues on the matter were, which was why Alison had no plan on asking about what had been told. "So you're wondering if you should speak up to explain what was told to you, or where there might have been a confusion of goals from those involved?" She smiled a bit, and reached out to tap the note, letting Terry continue from then.

Terry nodded and found the next note herself, "I asked specifically. And she said something different but now it seems like what she said wasn't what they intended. And I don't know if I should say anything or just let it go or if I should just tell Jay." Terry sighed, "It seems like it will just cause trouble." But it was the truth and Terry believed in truth.

"But right now, it's still bothering you." The logic flow was easy to follow from there, though it was entirely Terry's decision to make either in an instance of a student kerfluffle anyway. "I guess it's up to you to decide which is more important among your options. Do you think Jay should know more than you think you'd rather not cause trouble?"

"It seems like the right thing to do." Terry sighed. "Can I try that piece again? I need to think about this some more." Alison would understand the need to focus through the song. Particularly since Terry didn't have an answer to give yet.

"Sure." She watched Terry go through it again steadily, this time not missing the note she had previously. Keeping herself from looking out the window, Alison instead concentrated on the music, promising herself another long walk outside once they were done here. Classes and tutoring were enough to bring her back to the mansion, but other than that, she was keeping to the grounds and time spent with Miles as much as possible until Saturday morning.

Terry concentrated on her music, pouring power into her voice with letting it become destructive. She thought about Jay and about Paige. Thought about Jubilee's emails. She was tired by the time she let her last note fade, pure and isolated, stark compared to the complex harmonies from earlier. Terry smiled, "Thanks, Alison."
