BoH: Siblings Encounter

With the power out, Nicholas Gleason stumbles through the crowd to make sure his sister is doing ok in the power outage. But the reception he gets is a bit odd.

Nicholas Gleason stumbled around backstage, feeling for the corner of the stage. As soon as he found it, he kicked his leg over and began feeling around in the dark, listening to the voices of the crowd as they talked amongst themselves in the darkness. He wished he could turn into his wolf-form. Not only was the wolf’s night vision better, but he could single out the voices and find the one he was looking for. But in the presence of the members of the Salem community, a huge wolf walking around a pitch black room may send the wrong message than the supportive one the Professor had intended. Instead, Nick turned his head to the side. “Natalie…” With no response he continued to stumble down the crowded walkways, his hands out in front of him. “Nat? Where are you?”

Unlike most people. Natalie Gleason seemed to calm down with the sudden plunge into darkness. But the girl continued to rub the silver charm around her neck as she tried to control her breathing. But the sudden call of her name caused her to jump slightly as her eyes darted quickly to the side, and she raised her hand slightly. “O-over here Nicky…”

The boy’s ears instantly perked up as he heard his sister. Quickly his big brother mode shot up as he began to push past the legs of the crowd to take his place next to the girl, moving his hand up to her cheek and beginning to inspect her already. “Are you ok?”

With a small chuckle, Natalie pushed the boys hand to the side and leaned back in her chair again. “I’m just fine Nicky…”

But Nick was still darting his eyes up and down his sister, trying to make sure there wasn’t any sign of injury. But after being satisfied, he fell into the empty seat reaching for her hand. “Well we’ll just sit right here until the power gets turned back on.” Nodding his head, he looked towards the curtains as feet shuffled back and forth underneath them. “I’m sure Kyle and a few of the others are on it right now.”

Natalie gave her brother another small smile as she leaned over towards him. “Actually Nicky, if you don’t mind. I kinda have to go to the restroom.” Grasping at her stomach with both hands, she doubled over slightly as she leaned forward, her voice a bit strained. “My stomach has been acting up all day…”

Immediately, Nick began searching for his feet, as he stumbled back up to a prone position. “Well, I’ll go with you, make sure you find it ok.”

But suddenly the color drained out of Natalie’s face as she waved her hands in front of her own face. “No!” Regaining her composure, she pushed her hair away from the front of her face. “It’s a little embarrassing. Plus the emergency lights are on? See?” The girl pointed to the small runner lights along the aisles of the aisle way.

But Nick was hesitant to sit down. “I guess…” He turned his head to the side. “Are you sure that you’ll be ok making it there on your own?”

Natalie patted her brother’s wrist as she passed him. “I’ll be fine. You should spend time with your friends.” She gave her brother another smile as she made her way to the aisle. “After you graduate, who knows how long it’ll be before you see them again.”

As he watch his sister disappear up the aisle, Nick turned his head to the side, trying to understand her cryptic message.
