There Will be Peace...Act 2-Scene 4: Secret Agent Jan (Backdated)

Jan infiltrates Gordon as Julian distracts him.

Backdated to November 28th.

Julian kicked at the gravel under his sneakers against the concrete wall. He whispered to Jan who was buzzing around somewhere, "I really hope you two are right about this." The sounds of construction equipment around him made it impossible to hear if she responded or not. For all intents and purposes, he appeared to be alone, which is what the plan called for.

As Gordon pulled around the corner and saw his most recent cohort, he had his hands pressed firmly into his pockets. His loud sigh could be heard even over the equipment in the background. Pressing forward, he placed himself just in front of Julian, slightly closer than one would normally stand, hoping to push the boy out of his comfort level, and maintaining his dominance. "What is it now Keller?" He pulled his left hand out of his pocket, tapping its wristwatch slightly. "Your time is ticking."

Julian cleared his throat and took a moment to compose himself. "I scoped out the security at the jewelry store- it's too much for me to handle alone. I'm going to need at least two more guys- and some specialized equipment."

Jan flew away from Julian and towards Gordon McPhearson, her wings moving quietly. Usually when she travelled on someone, she didn't care if they realized she was there, and usually the person did know she was there. Here, she was acting as a living tracking device, and she had to make sure Gordon didn't realize she was there. Selecting a spot on his clothes, she landed gently.

Gordon let out a scoff, unaware of the situation at hand. "You are the specialize equipment Keller. You know what..." He stopped himself as moved his hands up to his temples, rubbing them as he let out a groan, regaining his composure. "In case I wasn't clear, you're doing this on your own, or else the rest of the Kellers and I are gonna be spending a lot more time together." He pointed his eyebrows. "Got it?"

Julian held up his hands, mocking defeat, "No, hey, yeah, I got it. Don't worry- in a few days you'll be rolling in diamonds and kidnapped people." He hoped Jan had made the leap onto the bastard's body, she'd been warned about making skin to skin contact, but with this plan there just weren't any certainty's.

With another sigh, Gordon turned himself away. "Just remember who's holding the cards in this game." Shuffling his feet he quickly made his way back in the same direction he had appeared from. "And don't bother me for any more of your pathetic complaining, or else I may add a forth job before I agree to let go of mommy dearest..."

Julian watched as the villain, and hopefully Jan, disappeared into the construction supply warehouse. Around the corner, a flash of light signaled his old boss' departure and the teenager hero breathed a sigh of relief. Walking around the retaining wall, Julian found himself face to face with Jean. "Did it work?"

Jean's hands slipped into her pockets. She shook her head. "He only knows the location of your father. He didn't know where the others were being held," she said. A small piece part of a larger puzzle.

Had she done what she wanted to do she would've probably made the man think he was a cocker spaniel. But sadly it wasn't the best choice for the situation. Perhaps later.

She hoped Jan ended up alright.

Julian nodded, "So mom and James could be anywhere?"

"Possibly, but even if he doesn't know where they are, if he is the one pulling the strings he'd still probably want to have them close by to be able to control the situation. Hopefully Jan will be able to get us some more information."

It might've been a long shot, but it was the best shot they had at the moment.
