Yvette and Sarah - Prom Prep (backdated to June 3)

Making good on her offer of help, Sarah works with Yvette on setting up tables and the pair chat.

Carrying a big box of decorations with both of her hands, Sarah blew some of her hair out of her face as she walked towards Yvette. "Where should I put these?" She wasn't sure if there was somewhere specific to place things as they laid things out or not. She didn't have much experience with decorating in general, and none at all when it came to specifically decorating the room they were in at the moment.

"Just down there," Yvette directed, pointing at the long table that would be set up for the food. She was busy laying tablecloths on the group of tables that was grouped along one end of the ballroom, for the partygoers to sit and chat in between dances. "Once we have the tables set up, we can begin decorating them with what is in that box, yes?"

"Ok!" Sarah looked to where she was pointing and headed over to set the box down as indicated. "Yeah, lots of neat things in here!" She pulled back one of the flaps, taking out a few of the things inside to show to Yvette. "This is gonna be a blast. I hope so, anyway, never actually been to one of these things here before." She imagined it would be, though, people seemed excited enough about it.

"Sometimes I think the grads get more excited about the Prom than the students," Yvette confided with a laugh. "Any excuse for the party, yes?"

"I think you're right, people here do like to party, hehe." She giggled along with Yvette, though she had to admit she was alright with any excuse for a party herself. "It should be fun, I think. Even for people without dates, hopefully." Or so she hoped!

Yvette caught the note of nervousness and smiled, reassuringly. "With so few students and most of them girls, it is not so unusual for our proms to be for people without dates," she explained. "Think of it more as the party with your friends and it is not so scary, yes?"

"Huh, that's not a bad way to think of it at all, yeah. A party with friends." She smiled at Yvette, glad that her friend got her to think of it that way. "So, partying friend of mine, any big plans for the Prom?" Secret code for: do you have a date, Ms. Yvette?

Yvette focussed on her tablecloths, eyes flaring brighter. "Making sure you all have a good time is my plan," she said, smiling. "Although I owe a dance to Kyle, for him helping set things up." She sounded pleased with herself.

Sarah chuckled, grinning at Yvette. "You, ma'am, are one in a million." That was a pretty selfless attitude to have indeed, they were all lucky to have such a great friend around like her. "Ooh, reaaaally?" She was just teasing Yvette now, and was glad to hear at least one of them had at least that much to look forward to at the Prom!

"We are just the good friends, and he likes to dance," the older girl explained. Even if she would have liked more. "And he is for me easy to be around, since I cannot hurt him." She coughed a little and moved to go through the box with Sarah. "How are you settling in? Are you making friends?"

"Dancing is fun, yeah." Sarah wasn't the best dancer in the world, far from it, but it was a lot of fun, especially when you were out with a group of friends and just having a good time. "Oh yeah, that's true too." She hadn't thought about that, and how difficult it must be for Yvette sometimes. Her own mutation was at least one that didn't put her in that difficult position, thankfully for her. She shrugged at the question. "I'm doing ok, I guess. I think I am, I hope so anyway. No enemies at least!" At least she hoped not!

"It is a little early for you to have the nemesis," Yvette giggled a little. "Maybe next year?" It was all teasing, given the tendency of the mansion's residents to acquire people out to get them.

Sarah laughed at that too. "Maybe, only time will tell! And there's always the kitchen toaster, I suppose." That was a rivalry for all time, right there, even if it was with a non-sentient object. "I'm glad I'm back though, yeah." She smiled at Yvette as she took out a few more things out of the box.
