Half An Ocean Away: Briefing

The team gathers in England, and Scott and Angel fill everyone else in on the situation. London time: Afternoon

Scott looked around the hotel room, "Thanks for getting out here so fast guys, we've got a little problem here we need to deal with fast and most of all quietly. A hothead, Fin, has gathered up a group of similarly angry mutants and has started abducting and terrorsing people in London. We only have sketchy information at the moment, all we know is he's taken one of Firestar's friends and is hiding in the sewers. I'd normally prefer to wait till we had a better idea of what we're up against, but there are people's lives on the line so we need to get in there and deal with the situation now."

Kurt sighed quietly. "Do we know anything at all about this Fin or his people's powers?"

"Not it." Kyle said, shrugging. "But if they're in the sewers it's a safe bet his power isn't turning into a giant dinosaur, so we can rule that out." He spread his hands and grinned. "What? I am not the intel guy. I am the guy who says stupid shit in the round up meeting and then goes and punches people."

"That is what happened to your flat mate, yes?" Yvette asked Angel, although it was more of a rhetorical question. "What have you and Mr. Summers found out about these people?"

"Yeah," Angel mumbled, squirming uncomfortably. "As for what we've found out...it's not really much. A bunch of mutants living in the sewers, one dude decided he didn't like the way mutants are treated, so he took over the entire group to try and turn them into...I dunno, mercenaries or something. They don't all follow him, but he has a couple of supporters on his side. So there's more than likely going to be a fight. Don't know about his followers but apparently Fin's powers are...shadow manipulation? It's strange."

Lorna put her hand on Angel's shoulder, "Don't worry Angel we will get them back safe and sound." Trying to comfort her suite-mate. "Shadow Manipulation? Interesting, guess the sewers would be a good place for that kind." Looking at the rest of the group, "Well if they are in the sewers, do we have a map or something on the sewer system?"

Scott pulled out a chart dropping it onto a bed where everyone could see it, "It's an old map but it should give us some idea where we're going while we're down there. But I can top the chart, we have a guide who's agreed to guide us to the Shadow Dwellers base."

"Really." Kurt raised his eyebrows. "Who is this guide, how do they know where it is, and how trustworthy are they?"

"Remember that time I accidentally found a mutant manifesting fire powers?" Angel spoke up. "It's him. He accidentally got mixed up with these people after the, um....incident. He's a scared kid who got in a little over his head."

"He seems genuine," Scott said picking up where Angel had left off, "without a telepath we won't know if he's playing us but everything about him screams desperate kid just trying to survive and not get in trouble."

"We don't always need a telepath to tell us when someone is lying to us, though it would be an easy approach and straight to the point. Do we have a rendezvous?" Lorna asked.

Angel couldn't comment on trusting James - she was a trusting a person by nature, and there was something about the kid...she just didn't think they were being played. "He's waiting at a cafe down the street with a friend of mine. We'll meet him down there and he'll take us where we need to be, but he doesn't want to go down into the sewers."

"I don't blame him, if he's already freaked out." Kyle said. "He's got somewhere safe to go while we're doing our thing? Because I wouldn't want him to get jumped after we go in."

Scott looked over at Angel before shaking his head, "I don't think so, perhaps Firestar's friend can take care of him till we're done." He shot an apologetic looks at Angel, one more thing for her to find a way to explain to Blaine when this was all over.

"Or we could find a cheap hotel room for him to stay in", Kurt suggested. "Rather than imposing on Angel's friend - and after all, if they came after Chloe, they might also know where Blaine lives."

"Can't rule out that they'll come after the kid for showing us the way, just a possibility. I am with Kurt with this one, get a hotel room and some free t.v. and get him a pizza. I know it's not the healthiest solution but at least he won't be hungry and sneak off to get food." Lorna didn't want the kid to get hurt either and holing him up somewhere might be the best solutions until things died down.

"I think we have the plan - and Blaine can stay with him, to make sure he is not leaving when he shouldn't, yes?" Yvette suggested, looking around the group.

"I'm sure Blaine won't mind keeping an eye on him," Angel agreed, ignoring the twinge in the back of her head reminding her that she was adding to her list of things to answer for later. It wasn't important right now.

"Ok, it looks like we have a plan then," Scott noted as he stood up. "Unless anyone has anything else to bring up lets go save Firestar's friend."
