While Amanda corners Nathan for an overdue talk, Meggan is left with Kurt. Who discovers that you only have to look away for a moment - literally - for a child to find all kinds of trouble in an un-childproofed room.

Meggan plinked happily at her piano, making the 'theme tune' from TeenTitans as best she could with only eight keys. She and Kurt had played with lego, and played tickle fight, and had a story, and now she was letting him have a little rest and a play with his computer. (She really had to get Manda to explain those things to her) Glancing up, she saw that his oh-so-chaseable tail was curled around the chair-leg, usually a sign that he was happy and relaxed. Nodding with approval... now that she didn't need to sleep so much, she was noticing that sometimes she tired grownups out too...she went back to plinking.

Kurt glanced over at her and smiled. She seemed so happy just to be playing with her little keyboard, such an easygoing child. He watched her for a long moment, then turned back to the screen.

Meggan finished the tune, and looked around, wondering what music to make next. Her attention was grabbed by an electrical socket on the wall, and she beamed. She knew what that WAS, now. Yesterday, she and Doug had watched TV, and there had been a little cartoon about how energy-stuff came out of the little white things, for computers or machines, and if you put a fork or a knife into one, it would go into YOU.

For some reason, they had seemed to think this was a bad thing.

Meggan quite liked the energy-stuff. It wasn't as good as the kind that was sometimes in the ground, or in Manda's books that Meggan wasn't allowed to touch, but there was plenty of it. She'd used it, sometimes, when she was still with the Bad People, when they hadn't given her enough to eat. If she sort of made herself like the energy-stuff, it would come into her, and then when she changed back it would become part of her own personal inside-energy, and she wouldn't be so hungry. She wasn't especially hungry now, but she was starting to think of food again... she would try it, she decided. That way Kurt wouldn't have to get up to get her a snack, and she could see if the fork-trick made it faster. And as luck would have it, there was a fork on the table from lunch...

Kurt noticed her get up, and marked where she was headed - but not being telepathic, he assumed she'd gone after one of the toys scattered on the table, or perhaps to get herself a drink or snack.

Meggan picked up the fork, and went back to sit beside the wall thing. Right. Carefully, she made herself friendly to the energy-stuff... it could sting if you weren't properly tuned to it. Once she felt right, she scooted over to the white wall thing, and wiggled the fork into it.

Wow. This was MUCH easier, there was such a lot of it.... she didn't even notice the light flicker, or Kurt's computer beeping in sudden protest.

Kurt blinked at his computer, then turned to look at Meggan, just in case she was frightened by the light flickering. The next second, he was teleporting out of his chair to where she crouched, not even taking the time to stand before he pulled her away from the wall socket.

Meggan blinked in surprise. "Why grab me?" she asked, still holding the fork. "I was getting energy-stuff out of wall!"

"That is very dangerous, Meggan", he told her as gently as he could. "Metal and electricity do not go well together."

"They do," she told him seriously. "Energy-stuff LIKES metal. Goes in it fast! An' then in me." She patted her tummy. "Not hungry now." It wasn't as GOOD as food, of course, but it was fun, and good for little top-ups.

Kurt blinked again. "You... eat electricity?" This, he hadn't known about.

"Sometimes. Didn't need to, here, 'cause so much food here. But I saw a cartoon with fork making it come out of the wall, an' I thought I try that." Meggan brightened. "Don't think Manda know. I show her, when she come back to get me!"

"...I think perhaps we should warn her that you can do that, first", Kurt answered carefully. "And I would like Dr. Moira to have a look at you."

"Okay." Meggan nodded. She wasn't sure why Kurt thought Moira should look at her - she'd given Meggan a little checkup right after she came back from being stole - but she was always fun to visit. "You come too?"

"Of course I will," he said with a smile, scooping her easily off the floor.

She snuggled up to him. "Good. Like Kurt." She kissed his cheek. "Think Moira be surprised too? You VERY surprised!"

He hugged her, sending up a silent prayer of thanks that she seemed completely unhurt. "...Yes. Yes, I think she will."
