After borrowing Mao from Cain, Moira brings him down to the Medlab to play on Doug's lap. Some much-needed fluff. It's not entirely hugs and pats on the back, as Moira's not too impressed with Doug's heroic antics, but at least she gives him a break from people yelling at him.

An', also, I 'ave someone who probably wants ta see ye... )

Marie-Ange finally comes down to the Medlab to see Doug. The conversation does not go very well at all. I have no clue how to sum this one up. Five-hanky warning. This one _hurts_.

YOU DIED. You died and I had to know about it and know that I could have stopped it if you had ONLY LET ME! )

Amanda comes down to heal Doug. Doug is a bit passive-aggressive, but Amanda reminds him that he's not the first one to screw up fairly spectacularly and be lucky to be alive at the end of it. Eventually, Doug gets tired of talking and just asks Amanda to sit with him for a while.

It's just...everyone's come in to tell me just how stupid I was, and I _know_ how stupid it was! )

Jamie comes down to tell Doug how phenomenally bad his plan was, as if Doug didn't know that already... ;-) There's a lot of emotion, and some yelling, and a lot of crying, and discussion of who gets dibs on Guido kicking Doug's ass the next time he even thinks about doing something so idiotic. And at the end, Jamie reminds Doug that even though he's pissed, he's still there for him. Still no Angie, and Doug's definitely worried.

First rule of a good plan is _don't get shot_. )

Nathan comes by some time after Alison, and joins in the "what you did was very stupid, Douglas" parade. Doug has no answers for anyone, and pretty much has to sit there and continue to take it. Still no sign of Angie, and Doug's starting to worry. A lot.

I know. I keep trying to come up with something to say, but the bottom line is, I was stupid, and I got lucky, and there's no good explanation for what I did. )

After Scott, Alison is the next visitor, and she's not very happy with Doug, either, especially considering his little emails. But she doesn't yell at him. Not verbally, anyway. She gives him a load of her body language and all of the tension and stress that's been on her. Doug is very contrite. She gives him the same sort of thwap that Scott does about training that idiot hero complex out of him.

It was like she was screaming at him without saying a word, and it was all the more effective for it. )

Sunday morning, Scott is the first one to come in and inform Doug of just how stupid he was. Scott barely manages to keep himself from yelling at Doug, especially considering what happened the _last_ time someone decided they needed to sacrifice themselves to save everyone else, and makes the decision that this idiotic hero complex needs to be trained out of Doug.

I was in love with someone who wound up feeling like she had no options. Like there was only one thing to do and she couldn't ask for help. )

After seeing Doug get shot...

He doesn't like sweaters. They itch. )

Since the question was asked - what was Magneto doing at the blood drive anyway?

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] x_crowdofone for coming up with this one.

Set after Madelyn's post to the community but before the staff post from Alison. Madelyn has a small nervous breakdown in the wake of the shooting, and Kurt is there to catch her.

How can we help them when they don't trust us to, Kurt? )

OOC: Apologies for the lack of links, LJ is being a pain with that Invalid Error thing...

The log of doom. Apologies if this is a bit disjointed, as there are a lot of perspectives to deal with. Alison's stalker, Trev, is at the blood drive looking for her in order to send a rather personal message. Doug is distracted and hovering over Rahne. After a while, Trev gets frustrated and tries to take a potshot at Rahne. Doug dives in front of her and takes the bullet, and Madelyn attends to him. Marie-Ange tries to run to Doug but is stopped by Moira, though Angie punches her a couple times in the process before Moira gets a nurse to sedate her. Scott finds the shooter, and details Haroun and Kurt to take him down, which they do, Kurt managing to talk Haroun out of killing the little weasel. Alison shows up to see the man who's been harrying her for so long, and Charles runs crowd control.

The sound of bullets flying through the air // Is follwed by a cry // And the crying... )

Doug the night before the blood drive. He's in the music room, putting the last touches on everything and making sure he's done all he can. A rather appropriate song comes on, and he lets loose musically before trying to get some sleep.

It's the terror of knowing what this world is about // Watching some good friends screaming 'let me out'... )

I wish I could take credit for this one, but Frito heard the song today and wrote this little scenelet. Let's just say...Doug's not doing very well.

One song, glory... )

Marie-Ange goes to talk to Scott about her nightmares, and perhaps a theory about why Doug has been so moody. Backdated to Monday.

Nightmares. I have had them before, but they came back )
