Having traveled to the very spot in Vietnam where it all began forty years ago, Cain fulfills his end of the bargain as Marie-Ange, Sam, and Wanda bear witness. However, Cyttorak is a bit more fluid with the conditions of their arrangement. Things both expected and unexpected happen, and no one will be the same.

In the air, Wanda ducks into the cockpit for some quiet time with Sam. They give voice to their worries but know, in the end, there isn't much they can do.

As Cain takes a moment to sit and think on things before heading to the jet, Haller finds him in the locker room, preparing for his journey.

Upon entering the hangar, however, Cain discovers that what he had intended to be a private two-man trip has turned into a somewhat larger excursion when Wanda and Marie-Ange show up. Cyttorak makes an appearance, and the five of them board the jet.

Marie-Ange always sees The Tower where Cain is concerned, but after the firey letters on the lake and Cain's speech, she's started to see other things as well, and goes to tell him about them.

Nathan, out for an early morning flight, sees Cain head out on an unexpected errand.

While Cain is speaking to the assembled staff and students, Cyttorak takes the opportunity to appear to Wanda, and comments on someone they know in common.

After requesting everyone to show up for an impromptu assembly, Cain gives a speech, and a confession of sorts.

Early Wednesday morning, a message of sorts is sent. It takes a rather unusual form, one that has a definite effect on the inhabitants of the boathouse.

Upon leaving the infirmary, Cain runs into Doug, who has translated the letters on the lake. Doug relates the message to Cain, who is remarkably nonplussed.

While the message is translated, its sender shows up. At the front door, rather politely. A chat is had between the visitor, Cain, Moira, and Charles - and a request that is both deal and demand is put on the table for Cain to ponder.

Tuesday morning, Cain makes a quick supply run into town. Separately, Haller and Moira decide to show Kevin around Salem Center. The four of them meet up at a gas station on the way back to the school, and the addition of a fifth begins a chain reaction that begins to break down the unbreakable.

Off in a small resort community in Western Oregon, Cain and Scott manage to track down Cameron Hodge and intend to ask a few questions about the stolen money. What they find is something else entirely, something that can't easily be explained.

( Get thee behind me, agent of the devil... )

After getting what they can from Hodge, Cain and Scott go for a bit of a drive. Or more accurately, Cain goes for a drive and Scott gets dragged out and given a talking to. Cain calls Scott's sanity and capability as a leader into question, and Scott has trouble finding the right answers.

( We need a leader, not a savior. )
