Nate takes Kyle down to the memorial at Arlington Cemetery. Survivors guilt, deserving to live, old memories and friends, conspiracy theories and hope for the future are discussed.

Nathan's up very late, feeling a little maudlin and more than a little drunk. His hallucinations keep him company.

Nathan's presence is requested at Arlington National Cemetery by someone unexpected.

Nathan finds himself on the receiving end of a very special pair of gifts from Moira and her family, and is a bit dazed by the implications. Haroun gives him a friendly kick in the rear or two.

( Didn't those ghosts in your head teach you anything? )

Nathan gets along with Rory's replacement much better than he did with Rory. He and Curt banter, prove that men can be catty too, and eventually raise their glasses to the Kinross women.

( 'Marrying into nobility. Heck of a stretch for someone from my background - and I suspect Moira's grandmother will remind me of that periodically until the day she dies.' 'Which will not be soon enough. Whoops, was that out loud?' )

Alison and Nathan get a few minutes to talk. Alison muses, and reveals a little more than she maybe intended to. Nathan is tickled, and makes a mental note to plot. Then Alison makes a very good suggestion for an ex-Mistra bonding activity.

( Oh-ho. He saw what was going on now. Not that he was going to say it aloud. No provoking panic. )

Nathan and his fellow ex-operatives follow through on Alison's suggestion, and then have a toast.

( To pack. Wherever we may roam. )

Early in the evening, during the reception. Alison pauses for a bit to talk to Nash, finding out how the healing process if going and if there are any plans yet in place for the future.

( It's just so nice to be able to be somewhere with people you care about and be happy... that must sound like the most obvious thing in the world. )

Late Sunday, Lorna checks in on Piers and scolds him for being a terrible correspondent. They talk about recovery and embracing the inner self.

Life goes on. There's a certain amount of joy in that. Piers arrives at the mansion to head off to Tunisia with Domino and Anika, and find himself somewhat at the mercy of his new pack.

Wednesday afternoon. In which Anika has something to give to Alison and ends up receiving something in return as well.

Nathan has one last discussion with the all-too-solid figment of his imagination, and finally makes a decision.

Backdated to Sunday afternoon, before Nathan leaves the medlab. Alison stops in to visit him. They talk about matters both frivolous (gray hair) and serious (the team), and there are a few undercurrents to the conversation that they both let stay beneath the surface. She gives him some food for thought, and he adds it to the pile. Oh, and he solves his puzzle box.

( I feel like I'm waiting for my life to start again. )

Cain visits Nathan and finds him doing new and surprising things like sitting up. They talk, mostly about the team, and Nathan is clearly leaning in the a different direction than he was earlier in the week. Cain gives his friend some good advice.

( You had the guts and the heart to do what needed to be done with Mistra. Now you've gotta ask yourself if you've got the heart for what comes after. )

Nathan has another session with Jack. Amazingly enough, progress is made (although admittedly, he doesn't mention the dialogues with himself).

Nathan finds himself having another one of those very odd conversations with himself. This time, he's finally figured out who he's talking to. And a few other things.

After reading his goodbye email from Amanda and making his post about not wanting any visitors, Nathan gets one anyway. Sort of. His subconscious, as before, is a bit of a bastard - but a bastard with some interesting points.

Sometime after his surgery, a still very woozy Nathan has a conversation - with himself. Or gets lectured. Something along those lines. His subconscious likes to growl, too.
