The X-Men go in. Nathan directs Angelo to a safe exit, but he and Samie run into a little trouble after all. Fortunately, she's a mean hand with a fire extinguisher, and once he sees her out, Angelo turns out to join his team. Marie, Cain and Garrison rescue the hostages, tackling Saidullayev's mutant allies and saving the lives of everyone still inside the conference hall. It's left to Sam and Angelo to pull off a last-minute unexpected save, however, as Scott gets word that Saidullayev's people had a last-resort bomb in the basement. Meanwhile, Nathan, Jean, and Ororo go after a fleeing Saidullayev, and it gets messy.

Protect the civilians. Just like one of the DR scenarios, except here most of the civilians were passed out on the floor instead of running around getting in the way. Of course, that also meant they were sitting ducks if the terrorists got it in their minds to start taking people out. )

The siege continues. Nathan makes a call back to the States to talk to Angelo's mother, and then has a moody moment on the roof with Ororo. Scott finishes his deployment plan, putting Rogue in charge of a critical part, and then checks on Garrison, who's still deep in negotiations. Angelo tells Samie a little more about his life (and why he keeps answering the funny-looking phone as 'Sancho'). In the end, the negotiations are derailed, through no fault of Garrison's - it turns out that the Russians wanted it that way all along.

If you are not in control of the situation, American, why am I speaking to you? )

Thanks to the vodka, Angelo and Samie are late for the keynote speech. This turns out to be a very good thing, as a familiar face from the near-nuclear annihilation of San Francisco decides that today is a good day to make a point. Angelo and Samie make a near escape and call the mansion. Nathan, lucky man, is the one sitting coms watch in the middle of the night.

Sometimes punctuality is not a virtue. )

When one's conference doesn't start until the next day, what's a young man at loose ends in Moscow to do? Apparently, run into an old friend from Kashmir and make a real stab at drinking all the vodka the hotel bar has to offer.

What are the odds? )
