Set Nov. 18 -- er, 19, given the time of night. After Alison's email to Xavier, not that either party knows about this, and before Xavier's emails.

x Jetstream: It's a cool evening, well after dark, in fact nearly two in the morning. Haroun's in flight, his blast field dampened down as far as it will go. Still, when one flies chemokinetically, one can't ever really make it silent and still get off the ground. He's headed for the hallway window closest to his room, his one arm awkwardly bandaged and immobilized, his other carrying a bag of ... groceries?

rahneofkinross: Rahne was in bed early tonight but didn't sleep much; she's only been outside for a few minutes but is enjoying her wolf form -- and thoroughly puzzled when she hears the low roar. She doesn't recognize it at first, but looks up and sees someone in flight, heading toward the building. Sam or Haroun... she can't catch the scent from here, but he's not headed toward Sam's room. She stands up on her hind legs, careful not to shift too far and lose her fur, and calls up to him, curious. "Haroun? Is that you?"

x Jetstream: Haroun is startled, for his part, and he lands as noiselessly as he can. "Yes, it's me, Rahne. You're up late." Now that he's closer, you can probably spot the bulky, ill-wrapped bandage over the left side of his chest, and the same bulky bad bandaging job across his left hand. The bag in his good hand has the logo of a 24-hour pharmacy in Salem Centre.

rahneofkinross: Rahne smiles a bit; at least, it mostly looks like a smile, though her face has just enough wolf to it that the expression comes off a bit oddly. "So are ye. Though for me 'twas early to bed and *very* early to rise." She sobers as she looks him over and frowns a little at the bandages. She doesn't recognize the logo, hasn't been there, but... "Odd time to shop?"

x Jetstream: Haroun grimaces. "The only time to shop. The best time. I did something really very stupid, and it's likely that I'll be asked to leave within the week. This stuff here is my attempt to fix myself before I go."

rahneofkinross: "I heard. Sarah's been in a foul mood ever since." Rahne sniffs slightly at that and then blinks, shifting the tiniest bit back toward wolf. Her next words are a little slurred as the shape of her mouth changes slightly. "You're hurt then? --Why not go see Dr. McCoy?" ...And she doesn't like what she smells. Blood -- that doesn't bother her as much as she thinks it should -- and something sharp like the medlab, and some other stink that makes her stomach clench with unexplained worry.

x Jetstream: "I do not want to be indebted to the furry dcotor any more than I have to be." replies Haroun. He winces as the the wound in his chest pulls.

rahneofkinross: "Indebted? I thought that was his *job* here. Part of it, at least." She bites her lip and stops quickly, reminded her teeth are too sharp for that. "Haroun.... I donnae mean to be rude, but that doesna smell right."

x Jetstream: Haroun shrugs, then winces from the pain. "That's because it isn't right. Marrow is far from sanitary, and I think my cuts got infected. Hence the medical supplies."

rahneofkinross: Rahne shifts her weight awkwardly; she doesn't like being pushy, but this can't be good. "I really think ye ought to see him, then...."

x Jetstream: "It's probably a good idea, actually, but I'm not going to. I can take care of myself, I can't allow myself to get spoiled by proper medical attention, since I can't get it where I'm going." says Haroun with a sad smile.

rahneofkinross: "So 'tis a better idea to go there with infected cuts already?!"

x Jetstream: "Well, no, that's why I've got the antibiotics and the new dressings." he replies.
rahneofkinross: "Are they working yet? -- Or are ye just starting?"

x Jetstream: "I've only been treating them for a day or two." he says. "So far, whatever that little skank is coated in is fighting the antibiotic."

rahneofkinross: Rahne sighs. "I wish ye'd not call her names. But... I really donnae like the way it smells," she repeats, thinking she probably sounds completely irrational. It isn't as if she has any experience with this. And Haroun is not going to like what she says next.... "If ye willna go on your own... I'm sorry, but I wouldna feel right not letting him know...."

x Jetstream: Haroun sighs deeply. "Fine. Run along and tell him, then. He's still not going to treat me without my say-so, unless Xavier arranges it."

rahneofkinross: She bites her lip a little too hard this time and then licks at the drop of blood. "No, I suppose not." And she supposes she could just as well talk to Professor Xavier, at that, but.... She looks over the bandages again and swallows. "Can I help then?" Haroun has time to blink before she adds quickly, "I donnae ken much about first aid, but at least I'd have both hands to use, and if ye can take care of yourself ye could tell me what to do, aye?"

x Jetstream: Haroun pauses to consider it, then nods. "And those claws will do nicely for trimming the bandages." He then hands over the bag of medical supplies. "First thing, you'll need to remove these bandages..."

rahneofkinross: "I was thinking I should change back; fur doesna dry too quickly from washing and I *was* running on all fours a few minutes ago," Rahne says wryly. "I can meet you... er...."

x Jetstream: Haroun shrugs. Non-functioning gonads and a distressing amount of cyberwear does that to you. "As you will, then. Meet me back here in ten?"

rahneofkinross: Outside? Rahne makes a note not to turn on any lights on her way -- of course, it would probably wake Marie-Ange if she did anyhow. "I will." She turns back toward the nearest door to slip back up to her room.

x Jetstream: Haroun decides to prep a little while Rahne is gone to shower, then realizes that Rahne took the supplies with her. So he decides to pace a bit, keeping a sharp eye out on the gloom of the night for any other interlopers.

rahneofkinross: No one else seems to be roaming, however, or at least they haven't wandered into him by the time Rahne reappears. She has managed the presence of mind to bring scissors (as a substitute for the now-absent claws) and a few clean washcloths, but can't help the feeling that running water would help. "I'm back."

x Jetstream: "Good. I think this one on my chest here has gone seriously rank." He spreads his arms out wide, to provide easy access to the aforementioned rank and blood-stained bandage.
rahneofkinross: Rahne takes a deep breath first; she can't smell anything now without the enhanced senses of her wolf form, but she has a feeling with the bandage off she may not want to breathe that much. "What's the best way...."

x Jetstream: Haroun uses his good hand to indicate the best points to start cutting. "Start there. Then peel it back slowly."

rahneofkinross: Fortunately the scissors are sharp, so that much isn't too hard, but Rahne cringes more than Haroun does when the bandage sticks. And she was right about not wanting to breathe once it's off; she has to close her eyes and turn away for a moment.

x Jetstream: Haroun hisses in pain, and cranes his neck to examine the injury. "Yep, definitely infected." he says, noting the inflamed flesh and the pus around the actual wound itself. "Luckily, the bone-knife didn't fragment when it went in. Now, take the alcohol and swab down the wound. Then apply the antibiotic, then tape me back up."

rahneofkinross: Rahne grits her teeth and looks deliberately at the wound again before she takes the alcohol out of the bag. "They donnae break easily. She throws them at trees all the time," she remarks, as much to distract herself as anything else, and then steels herself to start wiping at the area. After all, she reminds herself, *she* isn't the one it's hurting, so if Haroun can stand it....

x Jetstream: Haroun is standing it, albeit with gritted teeth and short, sharp breaths. "Good, good. Make sure you get it as clean as you can."

rahneofkinross: "I'm trying." Rahne is breathing shallowly herself and has a bit of the same strange feeling of unreality -- or rather, inescapable reality that simply doesn't make any sense -- as she did that first time she was a wolf. She makes a face at the swab and the ooze after a moment and turns to get one of the washcloths to wipe away as much of the pus as she can before starting again with clean gauze and fresh alcohol.

x Jetstream: "You're doing a good job. I don't suppose I could convince you to take a more active role in the coming struggle, could I?" he asks, between winces at each swab-and-wipe.

rahneofkinross: "...I think ye'd have to tell me more what you're talking about." Rahne hesitates. "I like Jamie's approach myself."

x Jetstream: "I could use you in Marrakesh." he admits. "A steady hand, a useful power, and a conscience. We could use you."

rahneofkinross: As far as Rahne is concerned this comes *completely* out of the blue. She actually squeaks and breaks off for a moment to stare up at him, then gets back to work, quiet for a while before she finally says, "...Ye ken I donnae fight, really."

x Jetstream: "You could learn. Or, if you won't, there's still many things you could do. Your nose alone would be worth a dozen sympathizers. And you could strike a blow for both women and mutantkind." he adds.

rahneofkinross: "I think," Rahne begins, then stops and starts over. "...I donnae ken much about what ye do there, but I think 'tis maybe not what... I ought to be doing." And she could only imagine what Reverend Craig would say about her haring off to Marrakesh to work with... she still wasn't entirely sure what kind of organization. "I'm only fifteen, and I'm supposed to be finishing school -- I want to do something to help people, but what exactly... I donnae ken yet. Though I'd thought of working with the children at Muir like Lady Moira does."

x Jetstream: "Well, there's the choice of working with mutant children of the priviledged elite, or the Third World poor. But I won't pressure you - just consider it, please. There's a lot of work that needs doing. I'm just one person, I can't be everywhere."

rahneofkinross: That stings a bit, but Rahne presses her lips together and -- with the wound as clean as it's going to get under the circumstances -- goes for the antibiotics and bandages. "I'll think, aye. But I do think I need to grow up and learn more first. Reverend Craig's still my guardian, too."

x Jetstream: Haroun nods. "Enjoy your childhood while you have it."

rahneofkinross: She only nods and goes on with the bandaging -- there's no way it would be mistaken for an expert job, but having both hands to work with does make for some improvement.

x Jetstream: Haroun stands as still as he can given the pain he's in until the stab wound is bandaged fully. "Nice work. Good field dressing. Ever thought about becoming a medic?" he asks while holding his sliced hand out for Rahne's cleaning and bandaging.

rahneofkinross: "I signed up for Field Medicine this semester, but for some reason they had Lady Moira teaching it and that's no what she does." She shrugs. "I'm only doing what ye told me."

x Jetstream: Haroun nods. "And that's a good start."

rahneofkinross: "I still think Dr. McCoy would make a much better job of it."

x Jetstream: "Probably, but his services come at too high of a price."

rahneofkinross: "I still canna see how." She sighs. The hand goes a little quicker, mostly because she's hesitating less.

x Jetstream: "Obligation." is all Haroun says.

rahneofkinross: "...If ye say so." She's still planning to tell. It *is* Dr. McCoy's job, and this whole process hasn't done a thing to convince her that his assistance isn't needed. "I think that's done it," she adds at last.

x Jetstream: Haroun flexes his hand, and then gingerly tests the chest bandage. "Feels better, a little. A few more days, and I should be fine. I hope."

rahneofkinross: "I hope so too." Rahne glances up at the moon (waning) and then back at the house. "I think I'll be going back in now...." And possibly back out again later; she doubted she'd get back to sleep and might not try. "Good night."

x Jetstream: "Sleep well, Rahne. I appreciate the aid." says Haroun, before flying back up to the appropriate window, and then slumber.

Note: Rahne does in fact end up out again in time to run into Alison. Log upcoming.
