In an effort to keep an eye on both her boys at once, Catseye has been forcing Jay and Kyle to sleep in the same room. And the same bed. As it turns out, this isn't such a good idea when one of them is out and proud and the other is questioning. When they wake up on Tuesday morning, they take the opportunity to discuss why this may have been a bad idea. But then discussions takes a turn to something much more fun and not worksafe.

Jay groaned. He'd slept well, but waking up was painful. His back and legs were stiff, and so apparently was another part of his body. His hand absently wandered down, just to check to make sure it was still attached of course, when he realized that he wasn't alone in bed. In fact, something rather heavy but warm was pressed up against him. Something that also was quite stiff.

Jay smiled lazily, still too deep in the haze of sleep to really think about the situation. He let go of his own arousal to briefly touch the other. It was when his hand wandered up to the other's furry torso that his brain finally kicked in. Opening his eyes, Jay saw that the stiff weight was Kyle. They were in bed, in nothing more than their boxers. Together. Hard.

Jay promptly fell out of the bed with a loud thud and muffled curse.

Waking up to someone else in his bed wasn't entirely unfamiliar to Kyle. Waking up with his head pressed against an obviously -male- chest, however, was. Definitely male, he thought. Not uncomfortable, exactly, firm and warm and ... familiar.

Very. Familiar.

Kyle opened his eyes, and as he suspected, saw red feathers behind the chest he had been snuggled up next to. ~How in the hell ... Oh. Right.~ "Uh... Jay?"

Jay would have stood up, had it not been obvious just how much he'd enjoyed sleeping. So he stayed in the floor, pulling his legs up close to his chest. "Ah'm gonna fuckin' murder Catseye," he swore, eyeing the door to the suite common room, which she was probably making her own.

Kyle yawned, completely forgetting to cover his mouth, and shrugged with the shoulder he wasn't leaning on. "'s not -that- awful. I think she was tryin' to keep me from having stupid nightmares again." He thought for a second, and didn't actually remember having any, so he shrugged again. "Seemed to work anyway."

Jay boggled. Was Kyle really that dense? Did he have no idea what sort of position they'd been in before Jay had woken up? "Yeah, well, kick ass for you." He didn't move from his seat, still not trusting his body to not betray him if he stood up. How mortifying.

Man, Jay was -fussy- in the morning, Kyle thought. Sitting up, he stretched his arms, shoulders making loud popping noises as he rolled them to get some of the stiffness out. It wasn't until his arms and shoulders decided to -stop- reminding him that apparently he'd slept with another person's weight on them that Kyle bothered to take account of any other soreness in his limbs.

And noticed the -other- part of him that was stiff. And not in the entirely uncomfortable way.

How in the hell had he missed -that-? For that matter, how had Jay not noticed? Or ... maybe he had, and ... ~Oh GOD. Oh hell.~ He shared a bed, with another guy, and now he totally had a boner, and worse, it was Jay. With the wings and the firm chest and -wings- and had he mentioned the wings?

"Yeah." Jay just nodded, aware that Kyle had finally taken notice of his body. And what a body it is, Jay thought. Which was promptly followed by an Oh God, gross, that's Kyle!. "We didn't . . . she didn't get us shit-faced or nuthin' last night, did she? We didn't . . . you know." Not that it would have been a bad thing. Jay had been ready to do it just a few minutes ago.

But gross. It was Kyle!

"I can't -get- shit-faced." Kyle answered. "Healing thinger. One of the doc's told me, a ways back." Which really only made things worse, since if he had, then he could blame that. "And so, I dunno. I think ... I'd totally remember anything other than falling asleep." He barely remembered that, but he'd been not sleeping, and fixated on trying to get Catseye to leave him alone about it.

"So Catseye just herded us off into bed for her strange cat reasons, we slept, and we're guys and this is what we're like when we wake up. Right? Of course." Made sense to Jay. That was all there was. The fact that he'd been quite comfortable and content in bed and still had a raging hard-on didn't mean anything.

Kyle nodded, trying not to stare at Jay. Jay, who definitely seemed as uncomfortable as he was. "Cat logic totally not earth logic." He wondered if grabbing the pillow and shoving it into his lap would make things better. Or worse. Maybe worse. Then he'd be admitting that he was totally embarrassed about this. "I mean, uh, yeah... it's not like, I mean... " Kyle trailed off, distracted by managing to figure out what Jay meant by "When we wake up," and realizing that meant Jay was sprung.

What was he trying to explain again? Kyle couldn't recall...

"So it's nuthin'," Jay asserted, nodding. He even almost felt comfortable enough to stand up. He probably would have, too, had it been anyone but Kyle in bed. Being hard along with a straight guy? That's just something to laugh off. But Kyle wasn't, as he'd finally admitted. And if Jay stood up, then, well, there could be consequences.

That was of course assuming that Kyle was interested in Jay at all. Which he probably wasn't. No, he couldn't have been. They'd found themselves at each other's throats too often for there to be even the semblance of something there. Because it wasn't like Jay found Kyle attractive at all.

Damn it.

Kyle was such a lousy liar. "Uh. Sure." He wasn't even entirely sure what he was agreeing with. "So, you didn't like, bruise anything falling out of bed?" He asked, at a loss to remember what the previous conversation was about. And it'd be pretty awful if Jay screwed up his wings. Again.

"Naw, Ah'm fine. Probably woulda screwed somethin' up iffn Forge were here, though," he said sadly. The room was cleaner than usual, the little bits and pieces of gadgets that often littered the room put away neatly for easy finding for once he came back. Which he would, Jay reminded himself as a brief wave of anxiety-nausea ran over him.

Kyle frowned. "Yeah. But if Forge was here, you wouldn't've ended up in my bed..." He scowled at the floor, not looking anywhere near Jay. "And Catseye would've have had some crazy idea that she needed to shove us both in one place." At least, he didn't think she would. Catseye only made sense if he didn't think about it too hard. "At least, I don't think she would have. For all I know, she might think DogBoy and BirdBoy in one place is funny or something."

"Yeah, somethin'." Just the thought of Forge gone, maybe hurt, brought a lump the size of Texas to Jay's throat. Forge was alone, probably afraid, kidnapped by some crazy woman for who knows why, maybe being forced to do stuff against his will. Jay had to constantly remind himself that he'd see Forge again, and soon. Everything would be back to normal soon. But until then, he was alone.

"Do ya . . . do ya think Ah'm attractive?" he found himself asking Kyle.

"Huh?" Kyle asked. "Why in the hell are you asking me that?" No, that wasn't how this worked. Jay was supposed to throw a fit, storm out of the room and put on some -pants- before coming back to ask awkward questions. "I'm not answering that!"

Jay shrugged. He had no idea what had possessed him to ask that question in the first place. He didn't need validation from Kyle of all people. "Sorry. Ah just . . . well, do ya?"

He wasn't going to leave it alone, was he? Kyle made a frustrated noise and crossed his arms, staring stonily at Jay.

For all of about five seconds before the expression on Jay's face got to be too much to bear.. "Jesus, you're totally not gonna let me alone about this, are you?" He didn't Jay time to answer before throwing himself face-down on the bed, only uttering a quick "Yes. Are you happy now?" before covering his head with the pillow.

There was no change in Jay's expression. Neither was there a change in his mood or thought process. He just nodded. Approval was nice, but did it really mean anything? Jay sighed. Kyle was right. He was so frickin' emo.

The pillow over his head was really goddamn uncomfortable, and made it hard to breathe. And even with it over his head, he could still hear Jay, just sitting there and not doing anything. After waiting what felt like forever, and in reality wasn't very long at all, Kyle pulled the pillow off his head and chucked it at Jay. "What, no, like, dance of celebration that you got me to admit it?"

"What'd be the point?" asked Jay despondently, catching the pillow. "Ah just wanted ta know that maybe Ah ain't as hopeless as Ah act sometimes. Lorna's crazy, Coma Boy ain't dead, Forge is gone missin' . . . Ah get mah comfort where Ah can, Ah reckon."

Kyle let a quiet growl come out. "You're not hopeless, just stupid. Forge's gonna come back, and Coma Boy..." The growl got significantly louder, and Kyle flexed his fingers. Just thinking about Tommy made him angry. "They'd better -not- let him anywhere near me." He liked Terry. Terry was cool, even if she had giggled at him.

"Ah'm sure he don't wanna be no where near your ugly mug either," Jay replied as he threw the pillow back at Kyle, unable to keep the grin off his face.

Catching the pillow and underarm winging it back at Jay was easy. Doing it without clawing yet another pillow into feathery ruin, that was much harder. But Kyle managed to pull his claws in at the last second, and bounced the pillow off Jay's head. "Blah, blah, blah. What's he gonna do, lock himself in a room and never talk to anyone? He's going in the lake at least once, even if I gotta stalk him to do it." Lake-throwing was too good for the bigoted turd, really.

"If we're lucky, he'll do somethin' like that." Jay decided not to throw the pillow back again. Pillow fights were the start to many a bad porno, so no. "M'sorry for weirdin' out on you, man. Ah'm just . . ." A chick? "Ah mood swing with the best of 'em."

"No, then we have to smell him when he doesn't shower, and even through doors? Man, that reeks." Kyle covered his nose. Thinking about it was pretty foul. "If we're lucky, he'll leave and never come back. And you didn't weird me, I just don't get why you asked." Except he was totally weirded as well, he just didn't want Jay to know. Bad enough Jay thought he was a homophobe for, like, ever.

Jay couldn't really answer that question. But fortunately for him, his body had finally relaxed, so he was able to stand up. He wobbled when he got to his feet, as his limbs were still stiff, so he briefly stretched before sitting down on the edge of the bed.

"Ah dunno," he admitted. "Ah reckon Ah just wanted to hear that from someone. Makes me feel less stupid, maybe."

~Must be nice~ Kyle thought. "Yeah, I get that." Was what he said. He wasn't about to whine at Jay anyway. "It's just you, though. Okay, you and Warren, but that's it." He shrugged. "Seriously. Its ... a thing. I dunno. Can't explain it either." Lord knew he'd tried to figure it out. "And before you ask, yes, I totally actually bothered reading that Kinsey thing."

Jay chuckled at that. "Ya like the wings, then?" He turned to face Kyle, keeping his legs close to his body just in case. "S'a long book. What'd you learn?"

"Okay, I didn't finish it..." Kyle explained, sheepishly. "But yes, I do totally get the whole thing about shades of grey and all that. Straight, gay, or somewhere in the middle." He wasn't sure there was a category for "Likes women a lot and two guys and that's it.", but he hadn't finished the book. Maybe they covered that. "And your wings are awesome. Seriously. You get to -fly-, how cool is that?"

"It's nice, Ah'll admit, but it's not the supercool whatever that folks tend ta think it is." He shrugged, looking over his shoulder at what he'd often referred to as his monstrosities. "Ah'd take ya up sometime iffn ya really wanted."

"Uh." Kyle shrugged. "Dude, I weigh like, almost what you do." Something about dense muscle, he wasn't sure. But he was definitely not a lightweight. "But that'd be cool. And I don't care what you say, it's cool. If flying wasn't cool, people wouldn't skydive or have build planes or bungee jump." And all of those things were totally cool. Even if planes smelled.

"People who skydive and bungee jump are fuckin' insane, though. And Ah could lift you. Ah can definitely get mah own weight into the air. So, y'know, if you wanna some time . . ." Jay finished lamely.

"Hey, I'd skydive." Kyle said, just a little hastily. "It sounds awesome. And how is me flying with you, which totally yes, because hello, flying, any different from skydiving? I still have to rely on something not me to keep me from going splat and being smashed Kyle with chunky bits."

"The point of flyin' is for you not ta fall. Ah hold tight, and there won't be no smashed chunky bits of Kyle." But hold tight while wearing clothes, he reminded himself.

"Good, because, I totally want my bits unsmashed." Once again, Kyle managed to speak first, think third, with odd thoughts about being pressed tight against Jay coming in second. Which of course, woke up the bits that Kyle hadn't actually been referring to, but were making a definite return apperance anyway. "Uh. I mean, um, you know, all my parts, not just bits because I didn't mean that, I mean, I don't want those smashed either, because I need them and I am going to shut up now."

Jay had a few options. He could ignore Kyle's reaction, he could take it as a sign that he should leave and get dressed, or he could stay and acknowledge it. Option three, for God knows what reason, won out. He scooted forward so he was close enough to place a hand on Kyle's knee. He tried to smile reassuringly at his friend. "S'okay, man. Ah know whatcha mean." He took his hand back.

Kyle was really going to have to have a very long conversation with a very, very cold shower soon. Jay got closer and the bit that had woken itself back up was now demanding Attention, or at least acknowledgement and he couldn't get up and go to the bathroom or leave or say anything, because it was Jay and that would just be freaky.

"Gnh." Kyle made a noise before he could stop himself and then covered his eyes with one hand. Someday he was going to get a grip on that whole self-control thing. Today was obviously not that day.

And Jay was hoping that the day wouldn't be soon. Smiling softly, hoping that he wasn't totally freaking out Kyle, he placed his hand on Kyle's knee again, stroking it with his thumb. "Does this make you uncomfortable?" he asked.

"Uh." Kyle stared at Jay's hand. Why was it on his knee? Again? Now was not a good time to babble. Definitly not... "Um." Except that all he could get out was unintelligent random noises that made him sound like an idiot.

Jay leaned forward, and his hand crept up Kyle's leg. His heart pounded in his chest. Kyle wanted this, he could tell. And what would a little fun hurt? It didn't mean anything, so there was no harm.

It was increasingly tempting to grab that hand and move it. Whether or not Jay wanted him to. "Jay...." Kyle swallowed the giant lump in his throat and continued to stare at Jay's hand... "I am totally not going to be responsible for anything I do if you don't ... " And then Kyle's sense of smell finally caught up with him. "Oh Jesus..."

Kyle wasn't flinching or backing up or reacting violently. "If Ah don't continue?" he offered, letting go of Kyle's thigh and placing his hand on his waist instead. His fingers brushed against Kyle's skin, and he felt the goosebumps.
Normally when Kyle growled, it was an uncontrolled reaction, and he was too busy to control his instincts. This time, it was definitely for effect. "What do you think I'm going to do, Jay? You're driving me insane and you know it. Don't tease the guy with claws and fangs. Bad idea." His libido was bad enough without Jay touching him.

"Ah'm not teasin'," Jay said seriously, his eyes locked on Kyle's. "Ah can make you feel good like you ain't never felt before, and Ah'll do it. Just give me the word." He moved forward so his face, his lips, were mere inches away from Kyle's. "Tell me you want it."

Words were a little beyond what Kyle could manage. As it was, not throwing Jay on the floor was getting to be difficult. Kyle wasn't even sure he could explain what it was he wanted, besides it being Jay. "No. Teasing." He finally managed to growl out, grabbing Jay's wrist tightly and moving his hand down.

Jay took that as a yes. Bearing down against Kyle, Jay pressed his lips against the other boy's as his free hand wrapped around Kyle and the other went roaming, as Kyle seemed to be demanding. His eyes closed, his brain started to shut down, and his body took control.

A very tiny part of Kyle was -very- aware that this was weird. The rest of him was telling that part to shut the fuck up, thanks because weird or not, he'd asked for it, and Jay was hot. Telling that part to shut up helped with the new and interesting problems of kissing and touching and he was pretty sure there was supposed to be a multiple step process, and it was happening all at once.

That Kinsey book didn't say a damn thing about -this-. Or if it did, he'd skipped the good parts.
