Tommy, Shiro and Leyu- Thursday afternoon
Nov. 17th, 2005 10:55 pmWhile going back upstairs after thier checkups, the siblings Yoshida run into Tommy as he returns from the gym after physio. Shiro and Tommy slightly spar verbally...and meet thier match.
"~They spoil you, you know,~" Shiro teased, unwrapping a lollipop. "~Sometimes I think you just pretend to be sick to get attention.~"
"~You're such a cabbage head,~" Leyu admonished her older brother, sucking on her own lollipop. "~I'm sick. See? My nose is stuffy. So there.~"
The two headed down the corridor from the exam room to the stairs. Shiro could hear someone coming from the other end, and it sounded like they were having some trouble. "Do you need help?" he called out.
Tommy just rolled his eyes as he walked. He was getting stronger, he could feel it, but he did still need the wall for support. "If I needed help I would ask for it thank you." Why did they always insist on asking him?
The voice wasn't a familiar one, but Shiro recognized the individual as he rounded the corner. It was their FoH guest. Shiro rolled his eyes. "Of course. I apologize for extending the courtesy. I will remember to be rude next time."
Tommy shot him a look as he stopped. Even though he didn't know either of these two, he wasn't about to show how weak he was. Unconsciously, they were still the enemy. "Excuse me for pointing out the truth. Maybe I want to do this on my own."
The look had no effect on Shiro. After all, he was a master of the evil glare. And Leyu had grown used to it from her brother, so she was unphased as well. "Then by all means," Shiro replied, putting his lollipop into his mouth and watching Tommy attempt to make his way to his room.
Tommy raised an eyebrow as they didn't move, so neither did he. "And what, give you the satisfaction of watching me struggle because I refused your help? I don't think so."
"I am no sadist," replied Shiro. "But as a resident of this mansion, I feel that it is my duty to make sure that new residents, even the disabled, can successfully navigate through this labyrinth. And I have no where to be right no, and neither do you, Leyu-chan, right?" She shook her head, stifling a giggle behind her treat. "So we are here for you."
"I don't want your help, so why don't you just be on your way and leave me alone." What was it about this hallway anyway? Was it something about it that made people stop and insist on helping him even if he didn't want the help?
Either that or the morbid schadenfreude value of seeing the handicapped struggle. "Even when they are obstinate and ungrateful, you must offer your help," Shiro said to Leyu, loud enough for Tommy to hear quite clearly. "You know how adamant Professor Xavier is about helping those less fortunate, ne?" They began to walk up the stairs, and Shiro glanced over his shoulder at Tommy. "It is very important," he said, turning back to his sister.
Tommy just rolled his eyes and grumbled, "Yeah whatever. And learn to stick your unwanted nose in people's business, great thing to teach little kids."
"Unfortunately, I am not so beat down with self-hatred that I can teach her how to arrogantly push people away and take out my aggression on others." Anymore. "Though if you are offering lessons . . ."
Tommy's eyes went wide for a moment but he bit back his first response as he didn't want to give the freak the satisfaction. "Excuse me, I didn't realize refusing your help meant mocking in return. Do you treat all unfortunate people you meet this way?"
Shiro stopped on the stairs and turned to face Tommy. He had to admit, it was unbecoming of him to taunt Tommy. So, a slight change of topic was called for. "You see yourself as just 'unfortunate'?" he asked, because that seemed like an awfully light term to him.
That was definatly an unexpected change of topic and Tommy sighed. Just wonderful... he thought since he wasn't about to take another step while the teenage mutant was around. "At this moment? Yes, because I'm standing here talking to you when I'm sure both of us have better things to do."
Shiro couldn't help but let out a short laugh at that comment. At least the boy has a sense of humor. "Yes. Go convalesce while we enjoy our crystallized sugar."
Tommy wasn't sure what was funny so he just shrugged it off with a small grin. At least there was one person who didn't get offended by every little thing he said. "I think I will."
