Nathan wakes up in the infirmary with no memory of what happened on the beach in San Diego. Thankfully, the poster child for 'seventeenth concussion syndrome' still remembers his middle name.

Oh, he knew that smell. It was the first thing that hit him as he swam back up out of the nice, fuzzy darkness, the unmistakable smell of the infirmary. Seemed sharper, too, although maybe that was just because his head hurt so much...

Nathan opened his eyes - it took a certain amount of effort, doing that - and blinked at the red-haired shape moving around his room. Shapes? Too short and too many of them to be Moira. "... Rahne?"

Rahne had felt as if she should be on the plane with RedX right up until the Blackbird coming back with the X-Men had arrived. They needed a few people to take care of the heroes, too. (On the bright side, the leftovers from the barbecue had made it relatively easy to deal with those who needed protein stoking.)

She spun around when she heard Nathan speak. "Oh, hey, yui're awake." She went over to the bedside. "Good evening."

She came slightly more into focus, beside the bed. Not a whole lot, though. Nathan blinked up at her, then down at an arm that felt rather heavy - which would be because it was in a cast, he saw, and frowned fitfully.

"What... happened?"

"Ah," Rahne said, "ye caught a tsunami."

Nathan went back to blinking at her. "I... okay then." He raised his good hand, managing not to smack himself in the nose with it but to rub his eyes, which had been the intention. It didn't help them focus any. "... a tsunami," he said finally, staring a bit quizzically at the ceiling. "I thought we were fighting Magneto..."

"Oh," Rahne said. That would certainly seem to explain running off with nearly all the X-Men. "I didna think he did tsunamis." Although she rather thought the rescued boy might explain that, as someone had mentioned earthquake powers.

"... I don't think he does either." Nathan closed his eyes, wincing. "Oh, my head... I think my mind's stuck inside my own head," he said fuzzily. "Feels weird. Everything's quiet..."

"Well, ye did overstrain your powers a bit," Rahne said, her voice a bit wry but soft. "Not that ye were the only one, either."

"I guess. If there was a tsunami..." Then her words sunk in and he blinked blearily up at her. "Everyone else... they're all alive?" Alive was good. Injured was bad, but injured and alive was all right.

"Aye," she said quickly. "All the team's breathing, and no injuries that willna heal." Although she really hoped that Nathan's powers weren't so wiped out that the virus got too far out of control.

"Julio? The boy?" Please, please let him be all right... He'd never be able to look Luis in the eye again if he'd let anything happen to his son.

"Unconscious, but he's expected to come out of it all right after a while."

Nathan relaxed a little. "Oh, good... that's good. Knew you'd know..." He managed a tired little smile, still trying to focus on her face. "You keep your ears open."

"I do try." Rahne smiled back. "And I think I've been by about everybody who came back here."

"Came back..." Of course, he was at the mansion. Why else would Rahne be here? Damn, it was hard to think. He felt concussed. He knew this feeling. "Can you get Moira for me?" he asked, trying to keep his eyes open. "I need to know..." Well, what had gone on, first of all. Tsunamis. What the hell?

"Aye, sure. I'll let her know right away."
