Dr. McCoy,
I would like to know if there is any way I can help you take care of Alex while he is in the infirmary. I am not trained for such work, but I want to help and I am a fast learner. I know that in such situations, it helps to have as many extra hands as possible.
Sincerely,
Shiro

Thank you very much for the offer, but Alex is resting comfortably; his IV baggie needs to be changed as it empties, but as that is the work of a few minutes every few hours or so, it's nothing I can't handle.
Lorna, however, requires much more involved care, and if you would still like to be of help, I would indeed appreciate an extra pair of hands to which I might delegate the less specialized tasks--changing bandages, monitoring her life-signs, and the like--long enough that, if fortune smiles, I might find more than an hour or two of uninterrupted sleep.
If you agree, you'll be receiving a tutorial on sterile procedure in addition to the lessons on IV etiquette, bandage handling, and how to read the monitors. The body's first line of defense against infection is the skin, and Lorna is missing a great deal of hers; I will therefore expect you to adhere to every precaution religiously, or you will be shown the door. There will be no warnings or second chances, because she cannot at this point afford them.
Marie-Ange will be coming down in the morning for her shift with young Manuel, and I'll know by then if Lorna is stable enough to hazard untrained care. If she is, I'll welcome your help if the offer still stands, and if not, Alex is certainly healthy enough for a visit.
Thank you again.
Dr. McCoy
