Evening Charles,
Thank you, again, for everything you've done. I don't know if the... enormity of signing those papers has quite gotten through to Miles yet, who seems simply content to stick to me like glue for the most part, but... yeah. Thanks.
Right. Jamie's been working on an original composition, and I think it'd be worthy of showing soon - in fact, soon enough for a semi-formal for the students, sort of like a Christmas ball? It'd have to take place off the school grounds, but I already spoke to Georgie and since we've had an event there before, he's already aware of the specific security measures we need and all... what say you?
Also, has anyone spoken to Alex at all since the incident? In a professional measure, not personal.
Thanks,
Alison

Hey Alex,
Things have been a bit swamped since I got here, but I'd like to talk to you when possible. We're all worried sick about Lorna, yes - but I can safely say for my part that I'm worried about you too. I've - sort of been where you are now. If you need to talk, anything at all... just let me know, okay?

On my god, roomie. I'm a mother. Not in the having given birth and all way but - in every way that matters, I am. I sing him lullabies to put him to sleep, I worry when he's out of my sight, I try and answer every single question he has, and heaven knows he has so many. His smile lights up my day, and I know the sound of his footsteps from any other of the kids here. There's so much he's never had, so many things we all take for granted that to him are still considered unattainable, not rightly his, something he shouldn't even think of touching...
I want to give him the world, Lorna. Every chance he should have had before, every happy day that was never his, hugs that have no other reason than just being wanted, ride in the park and bedtime stories and silly stuffed animals (well, Marie-Ange beat me on that one, but that's all right).
Wake up soon, roomie, please. My little boy wants to meet you.
Love,
Alison

Hey Alison,
Didn't want to bother you, being a new mom and all. Angelo told me all about him, sounds like a cute little squib. I'm happy for you.
I'm on required bed rest so just come knocking on the door during tyke's nap time. Shiro will understand, so don't worry about interrupting anything.
And if you start with "She'll be alright," I will slam the door in your face.

You are most welcome.
A winter semi-formal sounds like an excellent idea to me, and the last concert seemed to be a great success; would you like to announce it, or should I?
I'm afraid I've been remiss, and allowed concern for Lorna herself, and the stress of dealing with her parents, and various other matters to distract me from Alex's distress; thank you for reminding me. I could approach him early this week, unless you've made overtures already?
It is very difficult for me to remember, sometimes, that the authority is not given to me to mark the fall of every sparrow; I cannot help but think that as much as we have staggered from crisis to crisis this year, I should be more accustomed to dealing with them.
Since I am not, I grow ever more grateful for your presence.
Charles

Never a bother, Alex. Never.
And Miles has been really good about just tagging along and being quiet, but I'm sure he can settle down for a nap or I can leave him with Paige or Bobby for a bit (if not any other of the many volunteers that have been adding their names to the babysitting list)... I'll come by during the afternoon.

I'll let you announce it, I think. Same place as last time and if we can keep the security out of sight like we did the last time, so much the better. I'll let Georgie know it's a go. He'll be pleased as punch, really.
I'm talking to Alex this afternoon, but more than one person will be needed here – and you (as well as Moira) have more experience that would be needed in this matter, I think. I… I have some knowledge of where Alex is now. I can try and help from that angle, at least. But there likely can't be enough all of us can do anyone, but still, the more of us who talk to him, the better...
There are things we never get used to, and that we shouldn't get used to either. It's part of what makes us human, after all. I never thought I'd want to stay here, the day I first stepped through the main entrance, Charles. I still want to resume my singing career, one day. But… here is a good place to be. In many ways.
Home is where the heart is.

I must confess that I asked mainly as a courtesy, assuming you would like to make the announcement yourself; I'm afraid I mislaid my notes on the club, possibly indicating the need to reorganize my filing system.
I don't know that I'll have time to speak to Alex before the Christmas holiday, but I will certainly make a point of finding him as soon as I'm able; until then, I know I don't need to ask you to do whatever you can.
I'm very glad you've found a home here.
