Medusa and Angel: SNOW!!!
Dec. 9th, 2006 01:33 pmSome of the students are out enjoying the winter weather. When a stray snowball hits Medusa, she has an unexpected response and Angel is the first to come across her and join the fight.
Medusa’s boots crunched through the snow as she began her daily walk around the grounds, enjoying the crisp winter air and the beauty of the snow covered trees.
The idyllic moment was shattered as a packed snowball careened wildly through the air, smacking against the back of Medusa’s head. She stood in shock for a full minute before slowly turning around. Amanda had told her people liked to throw snow in America, but how dare they throw it at her? She would show them. Bending down to scoop up a handful of snow, she packed it into a ball and tossed it in the direction the projectile had come from.
Only to have it plop unsatisfactorily to the ground two feet in front of her. Scowling, she crossed her arms over her chest, her hair flaring out in frustration…resulting in a smile that slowly spread across her face.
Ten minutes later, Medusa stood in the exact same spot, her body still and relaxed. Her hair, on the other hand, was swirling about wildly, various strands grabbing snow and packing it together before hurling it at the small snow fort several of the other students were trying to seek shelter behind.
Angel came skidding around a tree, arms flailing slightly as she tried to keep her balance. There were some patches of ice here and there and it would be just her luck to end up head first in a snow drift. A flash of red caught her attention and she glanced over. When she saw Crystal's sister, Medusa, flinging snow with her hair, she laughed in delight. "Oh my God, Lady Medusa, that's awesome!" she said, scampering over.
Medusa eyed the other girl warily, but seeing no snow in her hands, nodded in recognition. Redhead, Crystal’s roommate…and had addressed her by her proper title without a condescending or derogatory tone. “Thank you Angelica. You are not on their side?” She glared in the direction of the fort as another six snowballs were sent hurtling towards it. “They attacked me.”
"Oh ho, that means war!" She grinned and rubbed her hands together. "The red heads in the mansion have to stick together, after all. Us against Them." And with that, she gleefully packed a snowball in her hands and tossed it, hitting one of the boys square in the head. "Hah, take...eep." Angel ducked a small barrage, not able to avoid getting smacked in the shoulder.
Medusa eyed the other girl curiously. “Are you not a pyrokinetic? Can you not block the snow from reaching you?” One of the other students took advantage of the royal girl’s distraction and lobbed another snowball that smacked against her chest. “Vai ao diabo que o carregue!” she exclaimed, turning her attention back to the opposing forces.
"Sometimes," Angel agreed with a gasp. "I'm still kind of working on extending my know how about the various things." But she thought about it and tried to do something, after Medusa sent her current ammo away. Stiring up her power, it rolled through her stomach and she pushed it out, pushed it away, to a foot or two in front of her. Her entire face lit up when a snowball hit the 'barrier' and melted.
“Excellent.” Medusa nodded in satisfaction. “We are still quite outnumbered,” she said, looking down at the younger girl and then glancing at the group of students conferring with one another. "But I believe that if we redheads stick together, we may be able to turn the tide. "
"Redheads rule the school!" Angel agreed, bouncing a little bit. The other students in front of them were quickly making more snowballs. "Oh no, not that fast." A little bit of concentration, a little bit of pushing and the pile of snowballs melted into mush. "Huzzah! I love being a mutant!"
“As well you should, my fiery little friend,” Medusa said with a mild amount of glee at watching Angel’s handiwork. Sending out snowballs with a renewed sense of energy, she was surprised to find herself having a great deal of fun.
"You've got the best power, ma'am," Angel sighed, watching in fascination as Medusa's hair rippled and moved, scooping up the snow like hands. Kurt's mutation still ranked No. 1 but that's because he had a tail. Nothing, but nothing, beat out the tail. She glanced up as a mushy snowball sailed over her head. "Hah, missed me!"
“Thank you,” Medusa said, genuinely surprised. “Yours is quite handy as well.” She sent out another barrage of snowballs, her hair whipping around quickly. “Think you could take out a section of their fort?”
"I can try!" Angel wiggled her fingers, one or two of the joints popping. She giggled, spotting some sticks and things sticking out of the snow. "Whoops," she said softly, as they ignited, burning long enough to make part of the wall topple down. She paused thought, eyes widening. "Uh...oh, I think we made them mad."
“I believe you are correct,” Medusa said, red strands batting away the snowballs thrown at them with renewed force. “And I believe they are catching on to the whole ‘Powers can be a benefit’ theme we started.”
"Um, wasn't there a saying about running away can be a good thing?" Angel asked, taking a step back and eyeing behind her. "In fact, I think there's a very, very nice fort right behind us. That has walls. And covering. And lack of people throwing things at us."
Medusa was ready to tell Angel that a proper lady never ran. Then she watched one of the students transform into a large bird as the other kids attached a piece of cloth packed with snowballs to its claws. “Then again, shelter is a glorious thing,” she added, turning and following Angel’s retreat.
"And now, we flee!" Angel yelped, turning tail and bolting for the safe side, laughter in her voice.
