Kurt and Crystal - Making Plans
Dec. 20th, 2006 06:21 pmKurt drops by the ballroom and is surprised to find Crystal dancing in the room. Crystal has worked very hard to plan the Winter Ball... anyone who has plans to cause mischief or mayhem Friday night, beware! Crystal's going to be keeping an eye out for you!
Crystal surveyed the ballroom, taking in each and every detail. Medusa had done an excellent job, only a few decorations and props would need to be added later. The band would go here, the food would on that side, the ticket stand would go right over there... Crystal intended to greet everyone who came in person, and therefore she was going to play ticket taker for the first part of the ball.
Smiling, she took a step to the side and began to dance.
Kurt hadn't expected anyone to be in there, when he came to the ballroom, and the quiet sound of her footsteps gave him pause, but only for a moment. Then he continued through the door and stopped to watch, not wanting to disturb Crystal before she was done.
Crystal did a pirouette spin, her left heel coming to rest on the ground as she returned her right foot to the ground. "Greetings, Mr. Sefton," she said, recalling his name change. "The setup for the decorations is almost complete."
"So I see", he said with a smile. "And it looks very good - perhaps you should plan future dances, should there be any while you stay with us."
"Perhaps," Crystal replied. "I think I will wait to see how people react to the Winter Ball before deciding whether or not I will wish to plan another dance here." If she did plan another dance, she intended for it to be a formal one.
"I see no reason they would react badly", Kurt assured her. "Not after all the effort you have put into making it what you were asked for."
"Medusa also helped with the planning, and she set up the decorations on Monday," Crystal told Kurt. Crystal had done most of the planning and had placed the majority of the orders, and it had been a relief to return from Hawaii and discover that the decorations were already in place.
"That must have been a weight off your shoulders", he said. "With finding yourself suddenly needed in Hawaii. You did good work there, by the way, or so I hear."
Crystal nodded. "I did what I could, as did everyone who went." She smiled slightly. "Yvette was glad when everyone returned. I do not think she liked having the number of occupants in our suite reduced by half."
"She was a little lonely, yes", Kurt said with a nod. "But that is all done with now... and everyone here is glad you all returned safely, I think."
Crystal certainly hoped so. She couldn't imagine that anyone there would not have wanted them to return safely. "Yes, and hopefully people will be able to relax and have fun at the Winter Ball. That is what it is for, after all."
"It certainly is. And not before time."
"It is good that the Ball was planned for Friday," Crystal said, "and not last week. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, everything should go perfectly." And if any of the attendees had any other ideas, they were sadly mistaken. No pranks, spiked drinks, or food fights were going to happen at the Winter Ball she had worked so hard to plan.
Kurt nodded. "As one of the chaperones, I promise we will do our best to see that nothing untoward happens."
It wasn't necessarily just the students Crystal was worried about. Several of the teachers seemed to have rather mischievous sides to them. Hopefully, the Winter Ball would not be the stage for their continuing prank wars. Still, Crystal gave a nod in reply. "Yes, of course," she said seriously, keeping all traces of sarcasm out of her voice. "With chaperones such as the ones found at this school, how could anything go wrong?"
