Seeking some distraction from being trapped, Wanda and Remy work out a bit. Remy gives Wanda some advice on powers use.

The repeativeness of lifting weights was mind numbing and welcome. And it helped to remove the hangover that had been with her since they'd been locked in. With no spotter currently present, Wanda wasn't pushing her max but she was making sure she got a good set in nonetheless. The burning in her arms felt good and her body was reacting well to the exercise. It was an outlet she was never going to regret.

On the other hand, LeBeau still looked like hell. Over the last few days, they had gotten some details about his disappearance with Ororo at the hands of Arcade, but it had somehow diminished him; sobered his outlook recently. Never the happiest of individuals, now he was more reflective and grim. It hadn't effected his abilities, as their foray into China attested to, but to his personality, something had reached down and torn it adrift.

"You hogging de machines again?" Remy said while he carefully taped up his fingers. The two broken ones were healing fast, but there was sense risking it. Remy's manual dexterity was a major part of his skills.

"Don't I always?" Wanda replied after taking a breath, flexing as she replaced the weights. Sitting up, she rotated her neck, feeling the slight pop and then an ease of tension. She glanced over at him, pursing her lips but not commenting. Remy was not the type of person to allow mother henning, even if she had been in the mood to play the role. Instead, she nodded at the machine. "Did you want a go at it?"

Remy looked at the rack for a moment and shook his head. "Non. Think dat Remy better stick wit' de low impact, least till both fingers heal up." He hated the exercise machines, accepting them only as a necessary evil.

"Anything I could help with?" Wanda offered. It was an offer for him but a chance for her as well. While she trained Mark and Amanda, and rounded off the others trainings, she was learning from Betsy, Remy and Pete as well. She could hold her own but they gave her a chance to add to what she knew.

Remy shook his head. "I can't do anything physical, really." The last three weeks had pretty much drained him, and even now, he was still a mass of bruises. "But I can tell you a few things if you like."

"I am all ears." Shifting, Wanda leaned her shoulder against the bar of the weights and waited patiently. The advice that was doled out was always taken to heart, especially on subjects like this.

"Combat situations. You lead wit' you powers at distance, and den don't use dem once you've closed." Remy had an uncanny memory for minute physical reactions, something both carefully trained in him and naturally enhanced by his powers. "You also always extend you arm fully when using your, what, hex bolts you call dem? It telegraphs your target, and delays you a fraction of a second."

Tilting her head, eyes half closed, Wanda took that all in. "...I can see that," she said after a few minutes, nodding. "The first is getting easier, what with this 'shatter point' thing I can see. It allows me to spot weaknesses even more and utilize them." She glanced down at her hands, amused. "I suppose I never thought about my arm placement for the hex bolts, they are the flashiest aspect of my power so I never considered toning down the movements for them."

"Most mutants telegraph dere powers with specific motions. If dey learn how you approach, dey going to have time to prepare and counter dat. You always want to avoid a pattern in you fighting." Remy leaned down to rest on the weight bench, dropping his towel over his eyes.

"Is it irony that I have a pattern to my usage considering my powers?" Wanda asked, placed her opened bottle of water next to him if he wanted some. "I need to follow my own advice. I was telling Mark to be more aware of his surroundings, to use them against his opponent. Considering my powers, I should be doing a lot more than I already am."

"Isn't dat de math thing, patterns in chaos?" Remy muttered. "De environment is an extension of you body, if you consider it de right way. In a fight, dere's nothing dat can be used as a weapon or turned against your opponant. Wit' your powers, dat applies even more. You should be focusing on rapid shock tactics."

"Rapid shock tactics?" Wanda asked, nodding at the rest of it. It was like she had been telling Mark to use his surroundings. She might have to step up her awareness by a few notches.

"Keeping people off balance. Wit ' dat 'hex thingy," Remy made waving gestures with his hands at the words. "you could drop a wall on damn, collapse de floor, make dere underwear bite dere balls off; anything to keep dere attention off you long enough to subdue dem or get some backup."

Her lips twitched ever so slightly. "I have never thought of the underwear biting off their balls before. I will have to keep that in mind. But that is a good suggestion--I have less power to pull from with Cython gone but more finesse. I should see if that applies to speed as well, rapid fire use back to back. And then a good right hook for good measure." And unlike Jennie she was unable to create a backlash since she was slightly removed from the actual chaos energy the strings contained. And hex bolts, while pure energy, were used differently.

"Right hook is fighting fair. Most people don't have a glass jaw. Better to go for de throat or de solar plexus. Put dem down quick and hard." Remy shook his head, the towel flopping from side to side. "Put dem down so either you can get away or dey can't. Dat's de key."

She flexed her hands slightly, noting wryly in her mind that she'd once told Jennie that there had been a difference between the two powers. Jennie could stop things, fix them; Wanda did not have that ability. "I do not have to use the entropic blast to stop someone," she mused, watching the muscles play in her arms, "but that does not mean I can shelve my entire powers in hand to hand. Hrm."

"You put everything together. Dat's de point of training. All de pieces end up fitting into place." Remy pulled the towel from his eyes and looked at her. "Dat keeps you alive."

The look she gave him was wry but greatful as well. "And as long as I'm able, that is my goal," Wanda responded, pushing the hair out of her eyes. "Now, let us see what we can find for lunch. Solids this time, a little less of a liquid diet than what we've been doing."
