As requested, Angelo goes down to be checked for pneumonia, and he and Jean make small talk. Also he frets about Nathan.

Angelo was almost sure he didn't have pneumonia, or anything like it, but Jean had said everybody had to come down, and he had spent a lot of time with Nathan in the last few days, and it couldn't hurt to make sure.

So, he made his way down to the medlab as soon as he could.

Jean was just finishing up with one of Nathan's students, a nervous young girl who wanted to be checked out just to be sure. "Your lungs sound fine, sweetie. I'm running everybody's blood work, just to be sure, but you're good to go with a clean bill for now. Come see me again if you start feeling sick, and I'll let you know if anything strange comes up in your test results." Glancing at the clock she smiled. "And you've got a fifth period class you should get to."

The girl hopped off the examining table and waved behind her as she dashed out of the private room and past Angelo. Jean, following her more sedately, spotted the young man and smiled. "Angelo, hi. Thank you for coming down." She nodded behind her back into the examining room. "Come in and we'll get started. Don't want to keep you longer than I have to."

He nodded and followed her into the room. "Pretty sure I didn't catch it, but... better safe than sorry, an' all that."

"Yup, that's the theory," Jean agreed. "An endemic of pneumonia three weeks into term would be a tad bit problematic, so we're just being careful. Arm please," she asked, picking up a clean syringe. "We're running blood work for everybody, looking for the bacteria we're seeing in Nate's results but we don't need to do x-rays, unless you're showing cold symptoms..." she trailed off, voice rising in question.

"Not yet", he promised, holding out an arm dutifully and rolling up the sleeve. "There was the whole flight back from Moscow, though, so..."

Jean nodded, cleaning a small area of his arm before inserting the needle. "That's why, if you didn't make it down here by dinner I was going to come looking for you." Her attention was focused squarely on what she was doing, but as soon as she'd acquired the sample and removed the needle, she looked up at Angelo and grinned brightly. "Thank you for not making me do that. You wouldn't have enjoyed it."

He laughed, pressing the cotton pad onto the spot when she put it there. "Hey, there's some things where I don't copy Nathan."

"And trust me, we very much approve of our protégé's not picking up our bad habits." Carefully labeling the little vial, Jean set it into the storage container with several other, similar vials of blood before turning back to him, setting her stethoscope earpieces in place. "Can you untuck your shirt for me?"

He eyed the stethoscope a little warily - stethoscopes were cold - but then sighed and obediently pulled out the bottom of his shirt.

Jean rolled her eyes at him, smiling as she placed it on her own wrist to warm the scope. "Really, you're not on our bad list, this is not one of the ones we keep in the refrigerator." Moving behind him she slipped the scope under his shirt, placing it against his back. "Deep breaths," she instructed, moving the scope about to get a good listen at several spots.

He could and did follow instructions, holding still while she worked. "Hearin' anythin' I should know about?" he asked lightly.

"Nope," Jean said, listening through a few more breaths before removing the stethoscope and coming around in front of him again. "Sounds fine. Open up for the 'light shiny thing'." She grinned at the memory of the first time she'd caught Hank calling it that. "Let's see if you've got anything collecting in your sinuses."

"Goin' all out, huh?" he said with a grin, before duly opening his mouth and letting her look.

"Looks clean," Jean said after a few moments. "Unless anything shows in the blood tests, I'd say you're safely off the pneumonia list. While I've got you, anything you want to talk about? Generally feeling ok?" As she asked a drawer in the back of the room opened and Angelo's file lifted out of it, floating across the room to Jean. "You're still in range of your last team check-up, so I don't need you for anything else."

"Nah, I'm feelin' pretty good", he said casually. "Now I slept off Moscow, anyway."

"All right, then," Jean said, smiling. "You are officially released from my clutches."

He grinned, turning towards the door, but then turned back. "He's gonna be okay, isn't he? I mean, with his lungs..."

"He'll be fine." Jean's tone was reassuring. "He needs to rest, and take care of himself, but even in spite of the passing out, we did actually catch this relatively quickly. Once we kill off the bacteria it'll be ok."

That got a grateful nod and smile. "Okay then. Guess I'll go... is he awake?"

"You can check. He's in the first private room down hall on the right. Would probably liked it if you stopped in and said 'hi'."

Angelo laughed. "Yeah, I was thinkin' that. I'll go check on him, then."
