On one of his visits to the medlab, Kurt stops in to check on Medusa and Crystal.

Kurt had kept his word, spending as much time as he could stand up in the main house working with the students who were still awake, but he was still making regular visits to the medlab to check on Amanda.

And to check on the friends and family of victims who'd refused to leave, as well.

Medusa was still where she had been all day - sitting at Crystal's bedside in the medlab. The remains of the food Nathan had brought her lay on a nearby counter - she'd been thankful for the food, but hadn't been able to do more than pick at it. She saw a familiar blue face peering in the door to the room and bowed her head slightly. "Any news?"

"Not yet", he said regretfully. "The Professor knows what is happening, though, and what is to be done about it. I am sure it will not be much longer."

"It has already been too long," Medusa replied. "I am sorry. I know I am not the only one with a sister who is...ill." A red tendril of hair extended to pull a chair out. "Please sit. Is Amanda here now?" She'd heard from the doctors that the blonde witch also seemed to be suffering from the same condition, but had not been out to the main room where the rest of the unconscious mansion residents had all been brought to see if Amanda was with them as well.

"She is", he said with a nod, moving further into the room to sit down. "I brought her back here myself."

Medusa turned her attention back to her sister, smoothing out her hair and the blanket tucked around her for what was probably the hundredth time. "That is good then. For her to be close."

He watched her sadly, tail curling around the legs of his chair. "I know it is hard, to see them like this. But they will get better."

"So I have been told by several people now. It still does not cause my worry to diminish." Medusa's hair hung down, swaying only slightly.

"No, I can imagine that it would not." He was watching her, rather than Crystal. "I cannot say I am not worried myself."

The redhead glanced over at him. "At least we do not have to worry alone."

"That is certainly true. We are very far from alone." He looked down at the sleeping girl. "I do not know Crystal as well as perhaps I should, as her teacher."

"She is slow to open up, now." Medusa knew Crystal had been more open when she first arrived at the mansion, but a series of events had caused her to be more cautious. "I have heard her speak of you, after the events in San Diego," she said with a glance at Kurt.

Kurt looked at her sideways, nodding. "I do not know how much she told you... but I was there at the right time to help her. And I am glad I was."

"As am I. And my parents would be too, if they knew," Medusa said, smiling weakly. "Crystal also had good things to say about your sister. Amanda has always been kind to her, not trying to treat her like a child. I think that is what many people do not realize about Crystal - she is not a typical sixteen year old."

"I am not sure many of the students here had typical childhoods", he pointed out gently. "But Amanda... has very little tolerance for those who would treat young people as children, when they are old enough to look after themselves."

"Are you two close?" she asked, reaching out to take Crystal's hand in her own. Though she knew that most siblings loved each other, she also knew that not many were friends as she and Crystal were.

"More than we have been, at times. We were raised apart after she was two years old, you see." That was safe to tell, without going into detail about Rack. "And we did not get on so well, after we first found each other. But now..." Now, she is the only family I have.

"I cannot imagine being raised apart from my sister. I do not know what I would be like if she had not been a part of my life." Squeezing the hand she held, she prayed again that she would feel a squeeze back. Bowing her head as yet again there was no change, she let out a sigh.

"I am just glad to have Amanda back now", he said quietly. "And that she accepts me as her brother. She did not, at first."

Medusa was quiet, turning her attention from her sister to Kurt. The silence was not one of awkwardness or disinterest, but an invitation to continue speaking.

He nodded, and kept going, voice still soft. "She blamed my family, at one time, for her being taken from us. But I think she knows now we could not have stopped it. And now... she and I are all the family we have."

"I am sure she does," the redheaded royal said reassuringly. "And it is good you both have each other."

"It is", he agreed, glancing at the door out to the main room. "And when she wakes... when they wake... I think perhaps we should both make that clear to them."
