Angelo and Ororo | Wednesday night
Apr. 25th, 2007 11:45 pmAngelo calls the mansion Wednesday night to request backup; Ororo's awake and fields the call.
The sound of the phone ringing was enough to disrupt Ororo's daydreams; she had been quite firmly elsewhere in her thoughts until the gentle bleating of the phone returned her to her office. Blinking, she leaned forward and picked it up. "Hello, this is Ororo Munroe."
"Skin here", came the voice on the other end, Angelo leaning on the wall by the payphone.
"Skin?" Ororo raised her eyebrows, instantly on the alert. "What is your status? Is everything all right?"
"Is so far, yeah", he reassured her. "But we're gonna need a little help. How soon can you get a team out here?"
"How large of a team?" she wanted to know. "And what will they be up against?" She was already pulling up the roster, scanning names and formulating several workable combinations.
"As large as you can get on short notice", he said grimly. "They're gonna be facin' mutants, maybe Kicked-up, maybe as many as eleven or twelve. I'll try an' get the number down, but I can't promise anythin'."
"Very well." They would need the 'heavy hitters', then, as there was no way to gather a team of that size in such a short amount of time. "Will departing tomorrow morning give you enough time? Or is even that too long?"
"As soon as you can get here is enough time", Angelo told her. "We can hold off until you're here."
Ororo nodded, realizing a moment later in a distracted fashion that Angelo wouldn't be able to see her. "As quickly as possible, then. Shall we use the coordinates you gave before your departure?"
"Yeah", he confirmed. "If we're not exactly there, we won't be far off. Few blocks, no more."
"Very well." A few quick questions later and Ororo hung up, turning back to the roster and scanning it again before pulling up a new window on her computer. So much for having time to daydream.
