As promised, Kurt goes to speak to Stefan before heading to the airport.
Kurt barely bothered to put the Blackberry back in his pocket before going in search of his brother. From what Amanda had said, after all, there was no time to waste.
Stefan, in yet another meeting to take care of some of the things that had been neglected in the last few months of his mother's illness, spotted Kurt approaching. Considering the look on his brother's face, he had no issues in ending the meeting early and the others wasted no time to escape to more pleasurable activities. "~What is wrong?~" he asked and then frowned. "~Is it Amanda? Is she all right?~"
"~She is fine", Kurt assured him hastily. "~At least, she is not hurt. But... it seems the same may not be true for everyone at the mansion. Including Marie and Angelo.~"
The older man chuffed slightly in concern, his frown deepening. He was relieved Amanda was unharmed but Angelo… just a little while ago, the young man had been making promises towards his sister. And now… He turned his thoughts back to the present and regarded Kurt. " ~'Including Marie and Angelo', you said, which leads me to believe that there might be more injured? It sounds like you might be needed back there.~"
Kurt nodded grimly. "~That is what she said. I think there may be several more injured, though Amanda only named three. But I will go only with your permission, brother.~"
He crossed the space between them and put both hands on Kurt's shoulders. "~Brother, listen to me. Having you home again has been a God send and something I have waited to see since Mother's decision. But if you let us hold you back, those will be another set of chains similar to the chains that prevented you from coming back here. You do not need my permission but I will give you my blessing. Go, do what you must and, better still, do what is right for you and know you have our respect and love behind your decisions.~"
Kurt looked up at him squarely. "~You are my clan leader as well as my brother now. But if I have your blessing... then that will do. I promise I will return, and more often than I did before Mother's decision. And sooner or later, for good.~"
Stefan smiled widely and pulled Kurt in for a hug. "~Visit when you can but live your life! Your home will always be waiting for you when you need it.~"
He hugged the larger man back firmly. "~I will do my best. Thank you, Stefan.~"
"~Send Amanda my love – hopefully, she'll keep out of trouble between now and the time I see her next." Stefan smirked and gave Kurt a small push and for a moment, he looked younger and more carefree. "~Run while you still can, little brother, and I'll stall the relatives. There is no time for drawn out, gossiped goodbyes when you are needed.~"
That got a laugh, almost like when they'd been boys getting into trouble and keeping each other out of it, and Kurt just nodded and turned to run to the caravan to pick up his few things on the way out.
