Cyclops and Storm have to get creative to gain access to the basement of a building home to an anti-mutant civil action group. They don’t find the girls, but Scott makes a new friend.

Clarice and Shiro deal with some of their interpersonal conflicts while searching for the girls. They don’t find what they’re looking for, but stumble across another child sorely in need of help.

Cable, Skin, Dominion and Wolverine are the first X-Men to reach the building where Madeline is being held. They quickly realize that this operation will require some finesse, but the most qualified negotiator on the team can’t bring himself to pick up the phone.

( They feel as though they've got their backs to the wall. )

And the snark continues on this mission as Wolverine and Skin move to cover the back alley.

Magnetic North makes yet another demand.

( How many times do I have to tell you, we don't deal with flatscans. )

Garrison is finally spurred into action, despite his reservations, when both Fred Duncan and Cable lay the facts out in front of him.

( If we need to go in, we can up the chances of her coming out unhurt, but we can't give any guarantees. If there's any way to solve this by talking them out, you need to try that first. )

While her rescue is being worked on, Nate helps keep Madeline calm.

Garrison finally picks up the phone to begin negotiation with the terrorists. At first it doesn’t look like he’ll make much progress until he reaches out to one of the two’s softer side and calls in a little help.

Once the threat has been dealt with, Garrison still has some work to do.
