Settled into their lodgings on the Isle of Man, the members of eXcalibur are interrupted during breakfast by the arrival of subject matter expert Jono and special guest Paige.

( Fairy tales – hopefully ones that will lead us to a breach. Just a day of fieldwork in eXcalibur. )

The team spend the afternoon canvasing the town, but split up as the location of the dimensional tear is narrowed based on what stories they can gather. The group splits – Paige heading back by herself, then Jay and Jono, leaving only Namor, Meggan, and Pixie to investigate the tear.

( Since when did people ride horses through town? )

( Could it be a manifestation of the portal they sought? )

( And then the dust came in. )

Jay and Jono awaken to find themselves not in Ireland anymore. Jono is quick to lay down ground rules and work to negotiate passage.

( The important thing is that we keep them appeased, don't ask anything of them, and don't thank them if they do something kind. )

Paige and Meggan find themselves captives of a less ambiguous variety. Their fellow prisoners have their own tale to tell of this land and its inhabitants.

( You must never give them your name. Once they have your name they can take even what's inside your head. )

Namor and Pixie awaken to a warm welcome by the ruler of this realm. She offers them hospitality - and an unwelcome revelation.

( Ah, but this is a mystery we shall have all the time in the world to unravel. )

Jay and Jono travel through the city of this Otherworld on their way to be presented to the Grand Dame, and the city is both stranger and more modern than expected.

( The rest of the city may be more Goblin Market, but this building was pure Cinderella. Maybe a bit of Narnia with those possibly living statues. It was the type of thing you could compose poetry about easily and songs not long after. )

Reality: Glamour Machine | Behold a Wonder (6/12)

The Grand Dame takes Namor, with Pixie in tow, on a tour of her kingdom. The highlight is the The Engine.

( I guess Prometheus forgot to share the fire of creativity with the fae. )

Meanwhile, Meggan and Paige work to escape their imprisonment. Shapeshifting proves very useful.

( Magic is just as real as science, so maybe the cogs turn a little bit differently here in places with sapping of stuff and binding, but there are still rules. )

The evening’s entertainment proves to be more than the Grande Dame anticipated when the scattered travelers are finally reunited. A bargain is struck.

Namor, Meggan, and Paige work to find a mechanical repair to the Engine. While they learn more about its inner workings, Meggan’s affinity for the fae realm and Paige’s current form prove to offer certain advantages aiding in repair. However, they find they'll need something more than a wrench and elbow grease.

( Oh! That’s really, really new! I . . . I think I’m seeing where everything’s gone wrong. )

As the group searches for a solution, Jono, Jay and Pixie hit upon a potential answer.

( Though I am no engineer, with instruction, I might be able to repair your machine. )

Excalibur cross the threshold between one world and the next, and close the door behind them.

( It was a song you could dance to, like everything this realm had to offer had been dragged out and a party was going on. )
