Late afternoon, before meeting Alison

Out on the edge of the grounds, Sarah sits against one tree, and throws bones at another. She's been out here for a while, thinking about... stuff. Her leg itches, and when she moves to scratch it a bone breaks the skin. She takes it, and embeds the pointed end in the ground beside her.

Paige has changed into something more suitable for the stable, but gave up on trying to keep a steady pace getting there. She's quite a sight, running full tilt in a pair of work boots, corn yellow hair blazing out behind her like one of her animal's tails. The only thing between her and the stables is a large, nearly empty feild. Nearly empty, except for the bones that Sarah has been chucking, and in typical klutzy teenaged form, she manges to fall over the lone one that has strayed too far from Sarah herself, tumbling into the grass.

Sarah hadn't been paying much attention to whoever was approaching, that is, until they had tripped and landed with a "thud". She raises an eyebrow, watches the girl get up, and brush herself off. "You okay?" She asks, squinting against the sun.

Paige jumps, turning to face the girl within the tree's shadow. "I'm fine, thanks." She finally manages to get a good look at the speak and smiles in recognition, holding up the offending stray bone. "You must be Sarah. And this must be yours."

Sarah nods, holding up the bone from the ground beside her. "Yeah, that's mine." She takes a good look at the girl, realizing that she looks remarkably like Sam. Except female, of course. "You the new Guthrie?"

"That would be me. Just arrived today and thought that I'd check out the stables, get something set up for my own." Her smile widens to a grin. "So I guess we're roomies, huh?"

Reaching to pull a bone from her shoulder, Sarah makes one fluid motion and sends it sailing into the tree nearby. It sticks into the bark, beside five or six others. She surveys it with a smile. "Yeah. You, me, and Em. You met Marie yet?" She scratches at her shoulder, where the bone had been seconds before.

Paige watches the bone with her eyes, only returning her gaze once Sarah speaks again. "No, I have not. I haven't really been here that long."

Sarah nods. "She's cool." A bone in her leg rips through her flimsy cotton shorts, and she curses softly. "There goes another pair..." she mutters. "So, what's your mutation? Anything we should watch out for?"

Paige doesn't give her a sympathetic look, merely one of understanding. "I'm a metamorph. Shed my skin and become someone else sort of thing. So, I suggest turning on the light before walking around the room in case I've done a snake impersonation during the night."

Sarah is used to odd mutations, and no matter how grotesque it may be, it won't phase her. She just shrugs, throws the bone in her hand at the tree, and watches it clatter against the bones already there and bounce off. "Nice to know."

Paige's smile brightens at Sarah's obvious indifference to her odd mutation. "You seem to have very good control over your own powers, so I guess I don't have anything to worry about either."

"I don't control my mutations." Sarah says, matter-of-factly. "But I suppose as long as you watch where you're going and don't trip over them, you should have nothing to worry about." She smiles.

Paige resists blushing. "So, what time is wake up call?"

"Whenever," Sarah says, shrugging. "It doesn't matter as long as you're on time for class."

"Oh, okay. I'll try not to wake you up when I get up myself. Or are you an early riser too?" Paige asks.

Sarah laughs, and shakes her head. "Not me... I'm not a morning person. Technically, I'm just not much of a sunlight person. It's just a thing I have."

Paige decides that she doesn't know Sarah quite well enough to ask about that yet, but stores it away for later. "Well, I have very large stables to inspect, so I'd better be going. See you tonight?"

"Yeah. I'll be around. Probably in the room for the rest of the night." Sarah smiles. "It was nice meeting you."

"It was nice meeting you too." Paige grins and heads off, turning around to wave once before continuing on her way.
