Log; Angelo and Callie
Jan. 16th, 2009 01:40 pmTrying to get herself caught up with schoolwork doesn't quite go as Callie would have liked.
The amount of catch up work that Callie had accumulated due to her delayed return was less than she had anticipated, but still more than she really wanted. Two weeks of classes did not seem as if it should be a long time, but when she looked at the piles of papers spread out over the table in the library, she realized just how much really needed to be done. It was not impossible to master all this, she reminded herself as she reached for a math assignment, it would just take a lot of work. She sighed as she looked at the page, at least it was one of her favorite subjects, and not something she dreaded.
Angelo chose that moment to push the door open, his arms stacked with books, and grinned over at her as he heard the sigh. "Havin' trouble with the homework?"
"I don't know." She frowned at the paper for a moment, then looked up at her teacher. She smiled, forcing herself to be polite and social. "I haven't started yet. Just got everything sorted out. So I know where everything is." Callie shrugged. "There's more of it than I thought there would be."
"Yeah, I've had that happen a couple times." He wandered over to her table, looking down at the papers. "Trick is to get the easy stuff out the way, then it doesn't look so much."
Easier said than done when your body was telling you that it was six hours later than it actually was, Callie thought. "Yeah, I'm trying," she said as she stifled a yawn then giggled. "I'm probably the only person who thinks that Math is the easiest subject."
"Never was my top subject", Angelo agreed easily, then looked at her askance. "Might wanna try gettin' over the jetlag first, though."
"I usually don't have it this bad." Her face became scrunched up and Callie rubbed her eyes, a desperate attempt to keep them open. "But I have two weeks of work to finish up. And... oh I need to make up your class too don't I?"
"Yeah, but worry about the academic stuff first", he assured her. "You don't need my class for a SAT. And you sleep now. I'll explain to the others that you needed it."
Callie nodded slowly and started picking up her piles of work to be placed in her backpack. "Thank you Mr. Espinosa. I'll try to get some sleep. And see you in class?"
"I'll be there", he said cheerfully, setting down his books. "I'll get you that extension, don't worry. You sleep well."
