Tabitha and Lil
Feb. 9th, 2009 02:07 pmTabitha and Lil come across each other in the garage and talk transportation.
Tabitha crouched down to examine the wheel well of her classic baby, checking for signs of more salt. She wondered if she could bum rides to town until spring. The thought of going out in the snow and salt again just made her cringe. She reached up to wipe at a spot that might be salt build-up with her damp rag. "It's okay, baby, I'll make you nice and shiny again in no time," she murmured to her car.
There was a motorcycle in the garage Lil had been eying for the past few weeks. No one ever seemed to ride it and it had collected a fairly decent layer of dust, enough to make her wonder if the owner was still around or if they'd consider making a deal for it. Stuffing her cigarettes into the pocket of her leather jacket for later, the giantess stopped short when she heard the cooing. "If it starts talking back, I'm declaring Xavier's officially the weirdest place ever and going back to Canada."
Tabitha looked up with a grin on her face. "Aww, I'd name her KITT-E and go on fun espionage-busting adventures." She kept looking up, too. New woman was TALL. Tabitha wondered if standing would make her feet any less short. "Hi, I haven't met you yet, I'm Tabitha. Recently returned from the West Coast Annex."
"Lil from Alpha Flight," she replied with a smirk before chuckling. "Welcome back, I guess I should say. Since she doesn't talk, what have you named her?" Her chin tilted in the direction of the car Tabitha was currently with as the Canadian leaned back against a jeep, her hands still thrust in her pockets.
Tabitha lovingly stroked a side-panel. "Not sure yet. She's old and classy, Maybe Katherine, like Hepburn. Or Judy, like the Dame."
She nodded her approval, causing the long ponytail to bounce. "Good choices for a good looking car," Lil complimented. She really needed to get some wheels of her own and the sooner the better. "You get her here or out on the West Coast?"
"California," Tabitha replied. "She's been kept out there her whole life. I feel a little bad for bringing her up to the Great White Northish. I hate the snow and I grew up in it. She has to be miserable, poor thing." She finally turned away from the classic Ford to look back at the tall, very tall, woman. "You said you're from Alpha Flight? They're pretty high class, what brings you to Xavier's?"
"California to New York is quite the change," Lil agreed, "But I can't say anything against the snow. I grew up in Yellowknife." The question Tabitha posed made the taller blonde shrug one shoulder. "Not really from Alpha Flight. I'm Beta or was until I resigned a couple years back but I'm looking to make Alpha now and I need some extra training so here I am," she said with another smile as she spread her arms. "Xavier's is stuck with me now."
The shorter woman nodded in understanding. "He's stuck with quite a few of us, I don't think he minds." She flashed a grin. "I blow things up, what's your specialty?"
"Not being able to be blown up," she said with another laugh, this one more impish. "Or cut or burnt or lasered." Or a number of any other things. Slinking off the jeep, she stood straighter and jammed one hand back into her pocket while hitching her thumb at the bike she was interested in. "You don't happen to know who that belongs to do you?"
Tabitha rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "Looks like Logan's, but he was.." She trailed off in thought. "Well, he wasn't here when I left, but if there's one certainty around this place, it's that he'll come back, usually surlier than before." She made a mental note to avoid him until she found out his mood.
"Logan's?" Perfect! Her smirk spread as she regarded the bike, impish delight filling her eyes. Finding the keys shouldn't be that difficult and surely he wouldn't mind if she... kept it in working order for him. "Good to know. He was one of my trainers back in Beta."
A grin fought its way to her lips. If ever there was a woman to be completely impervious to Logan's bad attitude, she had a feeling Lil was her. "Go for it," she encouraged, giving in to the imp on her shoulder. The only thing more fun would be if it were Scott's vehicle in question.
Lil laughed and gave her ponytail a toss. "I just might have to."
