Bishop requests help from X-Force in order to become more involved in District X
As scheduled, Bishop stepped into Remy's office and sat at the visitor's end of the desk. "I'd like to get Doug and possibly a few others for a favor for my old partner. I know this isn't exactly my usual job so I though it would be best to ask." He didn't know how the operations they did were chosen or cleared and it wasn't in his interest to step on anyone's toes. He also anticipated the possibility of Remy wanting in himself or at least to review the plans to make sure their group would stay secure.
Remy put down his pen carefully and looked across the desk at Bishop. While the man had been working on their local networks, his business arrangement with Frist had kept him on the outside of the main day to day activities of the team, and it was surprising that he'd come straight forward with a request.
"Maybe you could tell me what de situation is first, homme?" Remy said, reaching back to pull his coffee pot from the maker and fill a second cup for Bishop before sliding it over.
Bishop took a sip from the offered cup. "There's a gang war starting in an area of town where a lot of mutants have been settling. They're both mutants and the cops can't really get a handle on the evidence they need. He asked me to take care of it, so I'll need to do some surveillance to gather up some evidence and then knock those gangs down so the cops can come get a righteous arrest."
"Dis part of de whole 'District X' crap dat Mark mentioned? Couple of blocks on de East side wit' a bunch of low powered mutants squatting in de old projects dere?" Mark had mentioned that there had been a gathering of mutants following Day Zero in one area, but LeBeau hadn't really looked at it closely, since it didn't have any kind of real effect on their job.
"It is. The cops don't really have the resources to deal with it and I'm the only mutant that has ever been on the force. I was the only guy that Izzy knew to get a hold of." Bishop had been following the area intently and he had seen the turf war and rising violence that had made the area very unsafe for all the mutants that had been settling there.
"Hmm..." Remy rubbed his chin, leaning back in his chair and considering. Getting more pull in the NYPD would certainly help, and if a mutant gang war broke out in the streets, the fairly fragile tolerance of mutants in the city would completely disappear. "What's you plan to approach dis?"
"I've already gathered the information I need with the help of a few people here. I'd like to have Doug present it to the gangs' bosses so that they can arrange a meeting with each other. Then drop in, take them out, leave the evidence behind and it looks like they dug up dirt on each other, had a run in, and did all the fighting themselves. I also plan on putting in a backup request for some X-Men so if it doesn't work out like that then it will look like they came in and did the job." That was roughly the old cop's plan. It seemed like it would work one way or the other.
"Dangerous plan. If dey go off too soon, you got Doug right in de middle of gang war, hoping de X-Men pull him out." Remy shook his head. "Dat also increases his chance at having to interact wit' de cops, and I don't want dem knowing too many of our faces. We going to have to have more of our people dere, set things up if something goes wrong and get out before de cops come in."
"That's why we'll be there. With Mark... and it gets worse." Bishop pulled out a little map of the club. "The best spot to be for us would be here by the back door... on stage." He laughed a little and looked to Remy. He was sure he wouldn't like being on stage the most. "Then the X-Men pop in the front while everyone's watching us. That where the cops would arrive to and it leaves Doug and the rest of us closest to the unobstructed exit."
"Painting a big fucking target on our chests. Dis is not de why we normally work." Remy groused, but Bishop had a point. Depending on the location, a major distraction wouldn't be high risk, especially with a team of X-Men coming through the door like a tornado. "Dis is conditional on looking at de scene you planning dis to happen in, but I think you got de people you need." He got up and pulled on his coat. "Let's go look at dis place. You buying, by de way."
