Jubilee harasses Garrison until Amanda appears to save him.

"Thanks." Jubilee noted preemptively as she slid into the seat in front of Garrison, hooking a chicken wing from the plate in front of him. She smiled winsomely at the larger man, and bit into the spicy wing with relish. "So, like, business or pleasure today?"

"Cow chillo plenty good bed jig-jig. Two dollar never mind." Garrison said mildly, his expression never changing. While he'd learned most of his Cantonese from his mother, his accent had been polished by a friend at the Academy. When Charlie Hong had taken him to his parents place for dinner, he'd gotten to meet his great-grandfather; an ancient man who had grown up in Hong Kong at the turn of the century working as a labourer. The old man's English was still mostly a mix of pidgin a half dozen decades out of date, and he delighted in the shocked looks he got while teaching some of the saltier versions to his great grandson and his white friend.

It was a measure of Jubilee's control that she didn't choke on the chicken she'd just taken a bite of. "Like, you kiss your mother with that mouth, or what?"

She leaned back in her seat and studied the Canadian, taking a measure of the man. They hadn't talked much previously, despite Garrison's trips to Finnigan's. Jubilee wasn't much of a joiner, and Garrison's status as a cop reminded her too much of things she'd left behind. It was a new day though, and a new leaf of sorts, Jubilee wasn't interested in wallowing in the past anymore.

"So first you proposition a cop in a bar asking about 'bidness', and then forget that this one's mother died three and a half years ago from cancer." Kane pushed over his fork. "I trust you'll do the honourable thing."

"What, kill you with a fork?" Jubilee asked mildly, picking it up and giving it a once over before pushing it back toward him. "Sorry, Dude. I never kill on the first date. Besides, your 'Uncle' Pete might get like, testy with me, and it's never a good idea to upset crazy British men."

Kane blinked twice, slowly, and shook his head. "No offense, but are you high right now?" That would explain the extremely erratic behaviour a little, at least.

"Not the last time I looked," Jubilee noted, resting her head against the booth wall behind her. "I'm Jubilee by the way. Although I'm pretty sure we've met, or is it just that I've seen you here before? Totally forget my own head if it weren't screwed on, seriously. I've seen you on the journals though. First point of business. Wasn't propositioning you, cause hello, cop. That would be stupid. Second point, saw you sitting here all alone, figured you could use some company. If not, I can like, totally take myself off somewhere else."

"Jubes, are you harassing the nice man?" came a new voice, this one familiar to both of them. Amanda appeared at the booth, pint in hand and an amused look on her face. "Sorry, Gar. I only took my eyes off her for a minute." She nodded at the space besides Jubilee. "Mind if I join you?"

"I like to think of it as preemptive traumatising," Jubilee mused, grinning at the other woman. "And totally you can join in. Or join us, you know, whatever."

"Yeah, totally sold on the idea that this isn't a potential proposition going on here." Kane said archly, taking a sip from his pint and leaning back in his chair. That was always something that happened at Finnigans; random run-ins with Wisdom's crew.

"Like, should we be worried that you're totally obsessed with sex?" Jubilee asked, raising an eyebrow at Kane's continued insistence that she was trying to proposition him in some way. "Not that you're not a looker, but you'd have to feed me first. More then a chicken wing, anyhow."

"Perhaps he wouldn't think you were trying to get in his pants if you didn't keep making sex jokes, Tinkerbell," Amanda pointed out, sliding into the booth next to her. "The poor bloke doesn't know you from a bar of soap. Go easy on him."

"I suppose you're right, Mandy" Jubilee replied, glancing sideways at her coworker, and then back at Garrison. "Sorry 'bout that, dude. Don't know where my manners are."

It was probably the most insincere apology in the history of apologies, and that included some rather overwhelmingly bad ones by certain heads of state.

"Ooookay then." Garrison let out a breath, clearly pointing out the crazy going on. Interacting with some people and catching the angle they were following was like trying to shoot down a fly with a BB gun; you never knew whether or not you were even close. "Hey Amanda. I'm guessing she belongs to you? I remember her from Blue Area Mesa."

Amanda nodded, taking a sip of her pint. "Jubilation Lee, better known as Jubilee, Tinkerbell or a variety of Cajun swear words." She grinned, ignoring Jubilee's reaction. "Former inmate of Xavier's Home for Wayward Youths at the same time I was there, and now she's our unofficial courier. Unofficial in the sense you won't find her name on the books, same as Pete." She turned to her co-worker. "Jubes, this is Garrison Kane. Former Mountie, current FBI guy and running with the leather brigade. He's also good friends with Pete, so be nice or you'll be dangled out the window again by the cranky Brit who isn't me."

"Like, I swear Pete takes advantage of the fact I'm not on the books to do that. Cause totally can't call North and be all 'My rights as a worker are being impinged upon by surly British guys who don't seem to see the funny side of me messing with their coffee." Jubilee noted, smiling at her co-worker.

"Anyway, pleased to meet you. Well, pleased to meet you again, or like, pleased to be introduced to you this time, rather then watch you trying to tear some guy's head off. Totally one of those." Jubilee said, getting back on track and offering her hand.

"Um, right." Kane took the hand gingerly, like there was something potentially to be caught from it. "And I'd advise against touching Uncle Pete's coffee. He does have a history of unequal retribution on those who muck up his drinks. I think my father taught it to him."

"That's Christian Kane, yeah? He's not a bad piece of work for an old guy." Jubilee noted, retreiving her hand from Kane's grip, and leaned back again. She glanced over at Amanda as if pondering something and then shook her head. "I need to go get something to drink. Mandy, make sure he doesn't wander away before I get back."

"What makes you think I'm not going to tell him to flee for his life?" Amanda replied with a grin.

"And miss out on the fun of watching his expression turn from bewilderment to outright terror? Never." Jubilee noted with a grin of her own. "I'll be right back, Mr Mountie. Try and contain your excitement till then. Hard as that may be."

Jubilee left, making a beeline for the bar, only glancing back once to wink at them before she disappeared into the group of people who always seemed to mill about at this time of the day.

"Er," Garrison leaned over towards Amanda as Jubilee got out of earshot. "I'm sure I'm the one going insane, but did she just suggest that she was into my dad? Because, if that's the case, I think I am going to have to kill her and find an excuse to make it legal."

"I'm kind of hoping she meant more in a professional sense," Amanda said wryly. "With the whole teaching Pete and being the superspy and all that. Otherwise I might have to join you in the killing. Mind you, she does like getting a rise out of people, especially law type people, so I'd say she's more likely having a lend of you."

"I think she's mentally unbalanced myself." Garrison said, looking oddly after the Asian woman. "I think she's tried to start four different conversations since she sat down, none of them related to each other."

"Jubilee's special that way. Think of her as a sort of human hummingbird. On speed." Amanda sipped at her beer. "I tend to ignore about 90 per cent of what she says on a good day and I don't think she even notices."

"Obviously one of your highly trained super agents. I fear for the future just a little more now, thanks."

"Dude, personal and business are two totally different things, yeah?" Jubilee noted, coming back from her retrieval of a lemon, lime & bitters. "Besides, have you got any idea how often people don't expect someone who behaves like me to be in any way good at what I do? Underestimation works a charm, and for those I need to respect me, I put on the business voice."

"So, you're expecting to have to shark Garrison sometime?" Amanda asked, her tone dry. "There's having people underestimate you in the field, Lee, and there's acting like a twit in front of our friends and colleagues."

"Nah, I just like acting like a twit. Totally more fun then you'd think. Was I really all that bad?" Jubilee asked, settling back in beside Amanda with a questioning look. "I thought I was like, restrained."

"Incoherent would be the term I'd use. So, let's start again, eh? I'm Garrison Kane, RCMP, X-Man, currently working for the FBI, and family with your boss. Which is why I'm drinking here with his stable of agents, spies, criminals, and club DJs without itching to pull my badge or gun and arrest you all." Garrison held up his glass. "Cheers."

"Jubilation Lee, although I go by Jubilee unless you're Emma, or JP who seems to take umbrage at the fact that I've nicknamed him JP. Currently one of Remy's projects, I think he's trying to turn me into a useful member of Pete's house for wayward waifs and strays. Also a former trainee cop, but that was awhile ago." Jubilee replied, holding up her own glass in return.

"And now we're one big happy family," Amanda said with a grin, clinking her own glass against the other two. "So now we've established Jubes is capable of normal communication and that Gar isn't going to arrest us all, let's get some serious drinking in, shall we?"
