Wanda and Amanda, 7 am this morning

Wanda ropes Amanda into going overseas with her when a friend sends a message asking for help.



"Amanda?"

Wanda's voice was quickly followed by the rest of her; she was holding her laptop in one arm while she pressed keys with the other, eyes never leaving the screen. She was always suspicious of the machines, convinced they would up and explode on her at any given moment. Doug had given up on her years ago. "How do you feel about Japan?" she asked, smacking at the space bar.



"Tokyo's got a great buzz, but I'm not too keen on the food. Too much fish," came the distracted reply from Wanda's assistant. Amanda looked up from what she was doing and focused on her boss. "'M guessing this isn't a rhetorical question?"



“Not this time, anyway,” Wanda responded, shaking her head. She eyed Amanda’s desk and found a good spot to park the troublesome laptop on it. “We seem to have an email from our friend in Japan, Sato Miyagi, part of our new founded trio. I have been in regular contact with the three of them but this is something a little more substantial. He’s asking for our help.”



"I knew there had to be a catch to signing them up," Amanda said, but without any real complaint. "What's the problem?"



She leaned her hip against the cubicle wall and sighed, rubbing at the knots of tension in her neck. “What else, these days?” Wanda responded, sounding grumpy. “Trouble with a Capital T on the Astral Plane, he says. The problem is that there is so much feedback, even after all this time, that all Miyagi can get is that something big is happening in Japan. And his friends are, simply, not experienced enough to be able to help him with the issue.”



There had to be other magic users in Japan but Wanda was assuming that Miyagi either didn’t have the connections his mentor might have had or was too hesitant to approach them.



Amanda grimaced. So far the issues with the astral plane had netted them several demon invasions. Not a great sign, even if the damage was slowly repairing itself. "And I'm guessing you want us to go over there and check things out in person?" she replied, with a wry expression. "At least this time I'll have plenty of juice - Japan loves my powers."



Wanda tapped the side of her nose as she grinned down at Amanda. “Got it in one. We seem to be in a lull at home – no emergencies, for once – so I think we can take some time to go poke around Japan for a few days. I have a few things I need to rearrange but that is taken care of easily enough.” She took another look around Amanda’s desk. “You free for a quick jaunt?”



"Nothing I can't fob off onto someone else for the duration," Amanda replied in similar spirit. "But there had better not be any bloody tentacles, that's all I can say."



“Take all the fun out of it, why don’t you?”
