Feb. 19th, 2004 04:34 pmAngelo gets home from the medlab, and Shinobi shows him just how effective bribery as a mood altering tactic can be.
Falling asleep early yesterday meant Shinobi had not only not gotten to see the people he'd meant to - but also, that he had extra papers to grade. At least they didn't get handed back 'til Friday. Tucked away in his room, for a change, he's sitting at his desk while he works, dressed in white slacks and a black dress shirt, a white tie loosened around his collar.
Angelo, having finally decided it was time he moved back upstairs, since he was given permission some days before, walks along the corridor and pauses outside the room before pushing the door open and going inside.
"Was wondering when you'd get back," Shinobi grins from his desk, having looked up when the doorknob turned. "Welcome back, Angelo. Pack of smokes is under your pillow."
Angelo grins back. "Oh, you rock. I thought I'd run out."
"Promise is a promise." Setting his pen down, he twists around in his chair so he can keep a better eye on the other boy, for ease of conversation. "How're you feeling?"
Angelo moves over to his bed and flops down on it, drawing his legs up beneath him. "...Better. Tired, but better."
Shinobi nods, cracking a sympathetic grin. "I think that describes more or less everyone here, these days, anyways."
Angelo nods in return. "Probably. Been a crazy couple of months."
Not that Shinobi's felt particularly affected by it all.. but he'll keep that to himself, thanks. "Crazy must be going 'round, judging by my journal's access," he says instead, smiling lopsidedly. "The Powers That Be gave me access to the staff section, so I guess that means I'm officially a sort-of grown-up around here or something."
Angelo blinks. "For real? That's... really kinda scary", he adds with a grin.
"If it's too scary, I could go hide in another room," he grins, folding an arm over the back of his chair. "Which is what I wanted to ask you about, actually. Since people have been complaining about how blurry the line between staff and student can be sometimes, I was considering taking Marie or Bobby up on their offers to have half their respective suites. Don't want to leave you all by yourself if you don't want to be."
Angelo nods, thinking about it. "'S up to you, man, really. Not mad keen on havin' an empty room, but then sharin' with me isn't the best way to get a night's undisturbed sleep, right now..."
"Still having trouble, huh?" He frowns, but only briefly, then settles back into his chair properly to retake up his pen. "I think I might take Marie up on it.. if only so I'm in a better position to keep her sane."
Another nod. "Can't argue with that. God knows she needs someone who can..."
Shinobi lifts one corner of his laptop long enough to pull something out from under it, then waggles a pair of Season Passes to Busch Gardens towards Angelo. "Bribery works well," he replies innocently. "Check your nightstand. Should have one there unless we've had a thief or something."
Angelo swings round and opens the nightstand, finding his own season pass right where it should be. "You... man, you didn't have to do this! But thanks!"
"Ha! Anytime. What I didn't have to do was get one for Logan, but I thought Marie'd like to drag him along, too."
Angelo laughs. "Yeah, she'll like that. Not sure he's much of a rollercoaster person, but we'll see."
"He seems like an adrenaline junkie, and I mean that as a compliment," Shinobi grins, looking over his shoulder. "And even if he isn't a rollercoaster person, this is Marie who'd be dragging him. I think he'd go on It's A Small World if it'd make her happy."
Angelo bursts out laughing, now. "Man, what an image. But you're probably right."
With a smug grin at the laughter, he shifts his papers around to start grading the next one, nodding cheerfully. "I'm always right. I'm a Shaw."
