After this post, Yvette and Catseye meet after school and discuss the X-Men, names, and Yvette still being friends with everyone now that she's an X-Man.

"Dooooooon't stop... belieeeeeeeeving! Hold on to that feeeeeeeeeeeeeling! YEAH! streetlights and peeeeeeeeople, whoaaaaaaaaaa yeahhhhh yeahhhhhhh!" Catseye furiously pressed buttons on her guitar, trying to keep her eyes on two places at once, so she could watch the words of the song and sing, as well as use the guitar.

Yvette entered the rec room, heard the din and winced. Guitar Hero wasn't really her thing, mostly because people were so loud. But Catseye was having fun, so far be it from her to stop that. She came in properly and took a seat on one of the chairs nearby, not wanting to distract the catgirl.

"Yvette!" Catseye cried out when she scented the red-skinned girl. The song ended and she lashed her tail as she turned to her friend. "Does Yvette want to play with Catseye? Singing and playing guitar together is too hard for Catseye to do all by herself!"

Yvette gave her a warm smile. "I did not want to disturb you, you were concentrating so hard!" she replied. "I was going to be showing you the Knuckles character, yes?" Distraction worked as a good way to avoid saying she wasn't comfortable singing and couldn't actually use the guitar, given her finger length.

"Yesyes!" Catseye answered, slinging the guitar around her shoulder and sitting down on the couch next to Yvette. "Catseye was just waiting for Yvette anyway, Catseye does not have to play. What is a Knuckles, Yvette?"

Yvette got up and fetched the extra-large controller Forge had made for those residents with largely-than-normal hands. It was a lot easier for her to use that one than a normal controller, even if some of the combinations Sarah had made seem so easy were painfully difficult. "As I was saying on the journals, Knuckles is the game character," she explained, bringing up her profile on the mansion's game network and loading her last Sonic game. It was from several weeks ago - school meant less time for games. He is the friend of the main character, Sonic."

Catseye jumped up from her seat and went very close to the television, tail lashing in concentration as she waited for the blue spiky thing to be replaced by a red spiky thing with dreadlocks. "It does look like Yvette!" she crowed, quite amused. "Not all the way like Yvette, but some!"

Giggling, she returned to the couch. "How come Yvette joined the X-Men?" she asked conversationally, poking at the buttons on another controller and making the blue spiky thing move, since Yvette seemed to be moving the red one.

"This button to be jumping," Yvette pointed out, so that Catseye could play too. "And yes, it is close enough for the Japanese to be calling me Sonic when we visited there. It was very odd. Kyle had to be explaning for me." She pondered Catseye's other question, giving it solemn consideration. "I am wanting to help people," she explained. "And I know I can be doing that with the Red X, but there are many things out there that are hurting people that are not the disasters, yes? Like the war, or people like Apocalypse. I have these powers that are making me hard to hurt... I want to be using them to make sure no-one else is hurt."

"That is why Catseye wants to join!" she pointed out excitedly. "Except the part about powers because Catseye's powers do not make Catseye hard to hurt like Yvette. But Catseye wants to help people." Her thoughts hadn't changed since the summer when she'd discussed joining the team with Nathan, Jay, and Monet. "Catseye wants to keep sneakybad people from hurting Catseye's friends and other humans too. But first Catseye wants to learn how to lead a Red X team!"

"I think that is the good idea, since you are still learning about being the human, yes?" Yvette pointed out, pleased. "To be on the team... there are many things happening all at once and sometimes there is not the time for the questions, or someone will be hurt. So to be learning how to be the leader for Red X, that will make you very much better to understand the human things."

"Yesyes," she agreed, pressing random buttons and arrows on the controller to make the spiky thing move. "Catseye will understand muchmuch better. Catseye already understands much more than before she wanted to learn about being human because now she wants to learn. Everyone is helping Catseye learn. Especially Nick. Nick helps Catseye understand lots of things," she said happily, "even things about going on dates!"

"You do understand much more," Yvette agreed, before the last bit filtered in and she forgot the controller in her hand. On the screen, Knuckles ran into a hole and disappeared. "Dates?" she asked, one part happy for her friend and one part dismayed that she was 'losing' another friend. "You are liking Nick, then? More than just being the friends?"

"Catseye does not know if she likes Nick more than being friends," she answered, making her Sonic follow Knuckles into the hole. "Catseye is going to try to be a couple with Nick because it is almost the same as being friends and Catseye likes having friends and if Catseye does not want to be a couple anymore then she can tell Nick no and Nick has to say okay or Forge and Jay and Kyle and Laurie will do sneakybad things to him. Umm, Yvette? Catseye doesn't think Knuckles and Sonic were supposed to go in the hole." She'd never played a real video game before, only Guitar Hero.

"Oh, oops. No, they are not. I was being distracted and made the mistake." Yvette's eyes glowed brighter, her version of a blush. "It is sounding like you are doing the sensible way of things. You are understanding the people more, yes?" She reloaded the game from the last saved point, although her attention was still split between the game and her friend. "So, what name do you think the X-Men should call me?" she continued, nodded at the red blur that was Knuckles zooming down a ramp.

"Catseye has lots of nice friends to help her understand," the Catgirl reemphasized, snaking her tail around Yvette's waist as she grinned at the other girl. "Catseye thinks Cadmium is the best name for Yvette," she answered matter-of-factly. "It means red and red is something that Yvette is but it is a lovely word for red! Catseye likes Knuckles too but Knuckles is speedyfast and Yvette is not speedyfast and if Yvette has to have a new name for the X-Men to call her that is not Yvette or SharpSkinGirl then Catseye thinks it should be a nice name for something that Yvette is or looks like or does. Yvette is not a shadow so that is not good. Yvette is not a fruit either. And Yvette is not Red Riding Hood because Catseye read that story and the girl is SillyStupid and Yvette is not SillyStupid."

"Laurie calls me Hje because when I was first here, I was hiding a lot and following people when they did not know I was there, because I was shy," Yvette explained. "But I like most of the other names too! So I asked my friends to choose for me." It was a sign of how much she trusted Catseye to be careful that she didn't even shift at the contact around her safely-clothed waist. "And just because I am the trainee now does not mean you are not still my friends," she continued.

Catseye cocked her head and turned to Yvette, slamming Sonic into a spiky bee-looking thing and spewing coins everywhere. "How come Yvette has to tell Catseye that being a trainee means they are still friends? Catseye knows they are still friends! How come Catseye would not be Yvette's friend because Yvette is a trainee? Is Catseye not supposed to be Yvette's friend anymore? Is that The Way Things Are?" Or did she just mean that she was letting her friends rather than the X-Men choose her new name because she liked her friends better than the X-Men? "Catseye is confused," she muttered wryly. "Catseye does not understand."

"It is more that sometimes, when someone is becoming the trainee, they are... how to say? Moving on?" Yvette made a discontented noise. "English does not have the right words sometimes," she continued. "So sometimes I do not make myself to be understood. But I wanted you to know that being the trainee is not going to be making me different, that I will not be treating my friends like they are the people to save, not my friends. I would not need to be saying so, only it is what happened to me, when Laurie became the trainee and it was bothering me very much. I do not want to do the same."
Catseye poked Yvette in the shoulder with her tail carefully but hard enough to make her point. "Being a trainee better not make Yvette different or Catseye will bite! Well, Catseye doesn't bite anymore but Catseye will... glower! Yvette is not allowed to move on from her friends or try to save them. Umm, unless they need to be saved from sneakybad people," she informed the other girl matter-of-factly. "Besides, Yvette does not need to change because Yvette is nice and smart and strong and brave and everything that is good so there is nothing that the X-Men need to change for Yvette.
"Besides," she added with a smirk. "Yvette's friends might need to save Yvette so it would be good for Yvette not to move on from them," she grinned. The X-Men weren't the only ones who saved people, after all. The New Mutants and Red X could do it too! "Like in case Yvette smokes sillybadfun smoke and takes off all her clothes again," she teased.

Again Knuckles on the screen suffered a failure of movement, this time running into a series of spikes as Yvette dropped the controller and buried her face in her hands. "Do not remind me!" she mock wailed, embarrassed. "I think I was keeping my underwear on?"

"Nyah, underwear," Cats scoffed, giggling. "Klara and probably Callie too would say that underwear does not count and that Yvette was definitely naked!"

"I do not do naked!" Yvette protested. "It was the hallucination, yes? Too much of the smoke? You only thought I was naked!"

The catgirl collapsed into giggles so fitful she fell off the couch. "That is imagining? Catseye wasn't imagining," she protested through giggles, "Catseye was just thinking everyone was going to find and hurt Catseye and Catseye was very hungry. It is okay Yvette," she snickered, "Catseye doesn't think Yvette was naked because Catseye thinks underwear counts as clothes."

Yvette poked out her tongue at her friend. "And so they should be counting," she pouted, before giggling herself. "I am getting hungry and it is still some time before the dinner. It is snack time, yes?" she suggested. "Knuckles has had enough of the falling into holes for the day."

"Yvette would like some munchies?" Catseye asked innocently, and fell about giggling again. "Okay, Catseye would like a snack too." She stood up, replaced Dori's guitar in its spot, and wrapped her tail around Yvette's waist again. "Catseye will make Yvette an X-Man sandwich because Yvette is an X-Man now? X-Men get ex...tra pastrami!"
