Nico arrives to the X-Mansion...without asking, and without meaning it.

It was freaking cold, cold enough for the few hobos to gather in a massive hug of dirtiness and newspapers, a pitiful attempt to survive one more day without freezing to death. The girl away from the group though, had other things in her head at the moment, and the constant lashing of the cold seemed to take a second place on her concerns. Looking briefly at herself, the girl took note quickly of what surmised her personal effects: Black leather combat boots, black old jeans, white shirt –although by that point it looked like a mix of brown and gray, with random marks of other colors-, black, tattered trench coat, silver necklace and black armbands; inside of the ragged bag she had on a shoulder, a dirty book and a change of underwear, were some money was hidden finished the list. Sighing a little, her eyes drifted to the group not so far from her; if she stayed there for too long, she would be the one freezing to death, but the idea of joining that mass of people one more time was more than she could stand. Her attention was diverted to one of her hands; the nails terribly treated lately, the black polish reduced to dirty spots on them. Oh, she had had it, she was ready to take action, even if that meant doing the only thing she wasn’t supposed to do, to defeat the purpose of the hell she had put herself through the last months; she was going back, and that was happening right now. Without a single word, the girl raised one of those manicure-needy fingers and bit, hard and decided, the taste of her own blood filling her mouth.

Darkness, it was all the fault of the stupid darkness and evilness and idiocy of adults; while she didn’t thing her parents were particularly dangerous until those dreaded events, she had always considered them and everyone over certain age to be defined by the same set of ideas which, hiding under words like “Maturity”, “Responsibility” and “Righteousness”, not that every adult was the same, but the majority seemed to simply have a twisted sense of what it meant to be a grown up. And even there, she was okay with it, because that was the way adults were, and that was the way her parents were, and deep down, she loved her parents. Well, she did, but then she discovered they were beyond the usual standards of twisted and dark.

Her parents were always such a couple of overachievers.

<i>“When blood is shed, let the Staff of One emerge.”</i>

There was a change, a shift in the ambient around the girl, her black eyes suddenly cold and focused as the construct sprouted from her chest, her face showing how little she enjoyed the exercise; the hobos still awake threw themselves away from the girl, as the long staff finally exited her entirely, the golden attachment on the top shinning on the cold light. “I hate you so much…”, muttered as she held the staff, her mind driven to some of her many negative memories. “But I also need you. Ironic, isn’t it?” The girl held the staff high, both hands holding the cold black grip as she decided the best way to make the command; a smile crept her face as she made her mind. <i>“There is no place like home!”</i> There was a brief moment when a blinding light was exerted from the staff, and then she was gone. ***** On the other end of the country, Julian was reposed on the couch, silently clacking away at the Guitar Hero controler in his hands as what appeared to be rain splashed against the windows. Of course it wasn't bad enough that it was rain, but it was cold rain and that might as well have been snow for all Keller was concerned. The weather did match his current mood though, as he was still sulking over Inez's sudden departure. <i>'Girls like that don't just fall into your lap,</i> Julian thought.

There was an instant of light that filled the rec room entirely, and the girl's mind had a fraction of a second to note several things: This place was warmer, which meant she was indoors now (good), her feet weren't touching anything solid (bad), she was falling do-"Eeek!!" She wasn't that high though, and soon after she impacted into something warm enough for not being the floor, but hard enough for not being a sofa. "Just what the..." Her voice trailed off as she noticed a couple more of things: The ceiling wasn't her house's (bad, very bad), and she had fallen on top of someone who wasn't neither her father or her mother (fuck). <i>Wrong house</i>

The wind was knocked out of him by a...girl? As he slowly recovered from the sudden bombardment, Julian barely had enough mental capacity that she was fairly cute in an emo sort of way...barely. "The fuu...?" was all that he managed to get out before the combined pain of her sudden impact and the controller jabbing into his spleen forced him into unconsciousness. Before she could say anything, the boy...fainted? "Oh. My, God." She tried to move away, falling to the floor in the process, and then gave the boy a tentative-scared look. "Don't you dare to die on me! It was a goddamn accident!" She shook him a couple of times, noticing the controller, and then the game itself, and then room. Nice room. "Where the hell I am?" Looking around, the girl couldn't see nothing familiar, which was worrying. She turned back to the boy, and then something about him stroke as familiar...where had she seen that face before? Getting on her fours, the girl drew herself closer to Julian, for a moment forgetting she was completely wrong. "Shit! Keller!?! This is so not military school!....Right?"

“And that is why Batman always wins,” Dori said, finishing her long winded explanation to Cats as they walked towards the recroom. When she got there she stopped, staring open jawed for a moment at the sight that greeted them.

Catseye clapped her hands together happily at the sight of the girl half on the floor and looking like she was trying to climb on Julian. "Julian! Did you find another girl to have sex with already? That is good but I think sex is supposed to be private," she pointed out, eyebrow raised.

"Wh-what?" Only then she noticed she was a little too close to the boy. "This is a huge missunders..." The sight of the squirrel girl had the effect of an iron glove shoved right at her face, but the purple haired, tail lashing girl didn't escape her eyes though. "...tanding. <i>Where the heck am I?!</i>" She was on her feet by then, staff held in a defensive way; the ferals would notice the girl was more surprised than scared. Her eyes found the closest door to her, and she was already wondering if she could make it. "And for the record, the day Keller and I have <i>s-sex</i>, I'll become a frigging ballet dancer." She started to move towards what she decided was the only way out slowly, her eyes fixed on Dori; was she going insane?

"..." Doreen still didn't know what to say, but for a moment she was staring at Cats, "Eww," she finally managed, "Just eww." Julian + Sex did not compute. Ever. She turned her attention back to the weirdness in the rec room, "How did you get here?!"

"That's a pretty damn good question!!" The girl kept moving slowly towards the door, but she couldn't keep her eyes away from the squirrel girl. "Where the hell I am anyway? I was meant to go home, somewhere saf-" That was it; her house wasn't neither her home or safe anymore, so the staff took her...where?

"I <i>hate</i> magic", she muttered under her breath.

Before anyone else could speak, there was a distinctive "BAMF!" and a cloud of brimstone. When the smoke parted, two new figures stood in the room, one blue and fuzzy and familiar to the Xavier's students, the other blond and female and looking decidedly Unhappy. The girl fixed her eyes on Nico and before the other girl could move, clapped her hands together sharply. Immediately, a bubble of energy surrounded the girl, trapping her on the spot.

"Right," said Amanda coldly, stepping away from her brother and glaring at Nico suspiciously. "Who the fuck are you and what magic did you use to get here? My wards are telling me there's some serious dark magic going on."

Bamf?? The girl found herself trapped in what looked like a bubble. "More magic, awesome." She only had a second to look at...something blue and a yelling blond. "Nico Minoru, and even if I knew how in hell I ended up in this nightmare I wouldn't think it would make sense." Then the self introduced Nico gave a punch to the bubble with her already bleeding hand, no less; Nico winced, hand now bitten and slightly bruised. "Owowow...what's this crap?!" An eyeful later to the other witch, Nico seemed to relax a little.

"Look, lady, I just want to leave this place."

"We cannot let you do that until you answer the question", Kurt said firmly, eyeing her with some suspicion. "And by the way, whoever is watching the security system has probably alerted the staff by now. I would suggest you do so."

"Alright, alright, who is watching what and will alert a staff of what? What is this place, a prison? It certainly doesn't look like one..." Nico sighed at the blue talking, devilish looking dude; the mere amount of adjectives she was using made her think the spell was having her have a bad, bad trip, hopefully.

"This", said as she waved the staff on her good hand. "Magic, I guess, but I suck at this, because I never asked to fall ontop Keller, alright? Now release me or I'll start doing a lot of stupid things."

Her grip on the staff tightened, but she didn't do anything.

"Please?"

"Amanda?!" Catseye exclaimed, poking at the bubble with a claw, "What did you do?! Why did you trap this girl in a bubble? She smells like she lives on the street like Cammie and me used to and she smells a little like magic but not bad magic not like the magic you used to have!"

She turned her attention on the girl in the bubble, purple tail lashing. "Kurt means whoever is watching the computers that have cameras and keep everyone safe here at the mansion. And this is not a prison it is a school for mutants! And if you meant to go somewhere safe it is right that you came here because this is a good safe place. Kurt and Amanda are just trying to make sure you are not a bad person but I do not think she is a bad person Kurt and Amanda!"

"Sorry, Cats, but this is what I know, 'kay? This is my job." Amanda spared a glance at Catseye, although her face didn't soften. "That staff of yours - where'd you get it? And I see one twitch of your fingers and you'll find out just how tight that bubble can get."

Doreen was still in a state of shock but had made it over to check on Julian and start poking at him with a clawed finger while the rest of the action went on but looked up at that last, “Don’t hurt her! She didn’t mean to show up here. She’s just freaked out, I mean, I would be.”

It took about ten seconds to realize the purple haired girl was actually defending her. Judging by what she was saying, "Cats" had a very good nose, since she mentioned both her being on the streets and magic. Of course, the blonde wasn't buying the being a good person bit. Nico couldn't blame her though; as far as she was concerned, everything related with her parents was certainly evil, and so the staff she was holding at the moment. "Okay, <i>Amanda</i>, pay attention, because I would really prefer to avoid doing this twice." Nico then placed the staff in front of her, albeit slowly and letting the other witch see she wasn't going to go batshit on her, although it was tempting. Finally, she sighed, relaxing as her fingers released the staff. Instead of falling, it simply floated in front of her; just like when it came out, Nico suddenly gave the impression of being somewhat colder, not in temperature, but in a way less conventional sense. If anyone was able to sense magic there, Nico would give really bad vibes at them.

Then the staff simply plunged into Nico's chest. Rather than going through her, it seemed to phase and disappear inside of her; Nico's face showed how disgusting it felt. "Ugh", was all she managed to say once it sunk entirely inside of her, her knees bending a little. "Now imagine a motherly figure impaling me with it, just to find out the damn thing likes being inside of me...that sounds so wrong..."

Looking beyond Amanda, Nico saw Julian and Dori together, and it was like a light bulb turning on inside of her head. "Doreen, Doreen Green...never thought I would see you under these...<i>circumstances"</i>.

His first waking thought was that someone was jabbing him in the ribs. "Ow," he stirred slightly. "Damn, what happened?" Julian shifted and the guitar shaped controller fell to the ground.

"Um... I think Nico fell on you. Remember the goth girl?" Doreen said simply, "I don't know what's happening, but I think Mr. Sefton and his friend are kind of overreacting. Are you okay?"

Lifting up his shirt, Julian glanced at his chest. "I think the guitar is permenantly imprinted now, but yeah, I'm fine. Wait...did you say Nico? Nico Minotauru?!"

Amanda had watched the exchange, face still expressionless. Then she clapped her hands together and the shield dropped. "I can't tell for sure if you're telling the truth," she said to Nico. "But Cats has a good nose usually and Dori and Julian seem to know who you are. So I'm going to take you down to chat to someone who <I>can</I> tell if you're lying or not, and we'll see what he says." She glanced up at Kurt. "You might want to bamf Julian down to the medlab for a check up. I can handle Little Miss Magic here."

"My sister", Kurt corrected Dori automatically. "And yes, Julian, you had better come with me. Amelia would not be pleased if she found out you had possible cracked ribs and did not see her. Doreen, since you know our newcomer here, perhaps you would go with her and Amanda to see the Professor?"

"What should I do?" Catseye asked curiously. "I want to help and do something!"

“Be careful,” Dori whispered to Julian, “She’s scary. And it’s Minoru… I think… not Minotaru,” she said before nodding, “I can go with them, Mr. Sefton. It’s not a problem. Can Catseye come with us too?”

Amanda wasn't pleased about an entourage - especially a student one - but if worst came to worst, she could shield Dori and Catseye and take care of Nico the old fashioned way. Besides, they might keep the girl calm if she wasn't some kind of threat. "All right," she said, looking from Nico to the two other girls. "Let's go down and talk to the X geezer then."
