Nico finally finds Cammie; the result isn't really that clear.
It was chemistry time in the public kitchen once more as Cammie riffled through the newest cleaning supplies, figuring out just what she could mix together for a drink. The antifreeze was in the garage, so it was all floor cleaners and heavy chemicals. She had a glass for her self and had it, and a bunch of random cleaning implements on the cupboard and was going about the Mad Scientist school of drink mixing.
Meaning she could end up with anything. The fun was getting there.
Nico walked inside the kitchen, Staff on One over her left shoulder. Her idea that from time to time she needed to let the thing free seemed to be true, but the thing wouldn't go inside of her for a while, and if she went to sleep again, by the time it would phase its way inside of her chest she would wake up yelling, and Megan was already asleep, so eating seemed to be the right thing to do at the moment. Of course, meeting someone else on the kitchen wasn't particularly weird, but the green hair gave Nico all the information she needed about the person already there. Uh-oh. And she had even been trying to avoid Cammie, not because she didn't want to talk to her, but mainly due to the fact they might end up killing each other. She had to tell the other girl about the job she had taken though, since it concerned her first hand.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything..."
"Only science inaction. Or is that 'in action'?" Cammie mused, "Whatever, I don't fucking care. Milk's in the fridge," she said, pouring floor cleaner into the empty cup and then picking up and shaking a thing of cleaning bleach before putting it down and opening up the bottle next to it and smelling it before dumping it into the cup.
"Huh, thanks?" Where else could the milk be? And she didn't even said she wanted milk. Of course, the idea went beyond that, but Nico wasn't going to give Cammie a point to start an argument...or whatever that could end up as. "I was looking for water, actually", mentioned as she opened the fridge, getting a bottle of mineral water. Even with all the weird stuff on the Mansion, Cammie's mix of ingredients was something she had to stare at for a couple of seconds. "How does that work?", asked as she looked at the girl. "You can drink whatever you want or something like that?"
"I can't be poisoned," Cammie said simply, tipping back the glass and giving it a taste before setting back down and trying another combination of chemicals, "I also can't taste jack shit unless it's toxic or Kill You With Fire spicy."
Nico tilted her head, apparently amused by that. "Huh, sounds like my cooking skills." She didn't say it, but back in the time, the kitchen and her was always a bad combination. "If you ever get bored, I'll cook something...but I guess I would need another kitchen, or another house to make anything without having people demanding safety measures." Yeah, it would be fun to make food and actually seeing someone eating it without ending up in a hospital, intoxicated and threatening to sue.
"Eh, anyway, since I found you, I wanted to tell you I will be working on Ms. Frost's store. I hope to make a good work, and actually learn a thing or two, so if you have any tips..."
"Look you might think your cooking is actually toxic, and that might be true in some ways, but unless you regularly spike it with led paint or mercury or cook with heavy metals I'm not going to taste it," Cammie returned, "And good for you. I'm not the advice giving type of person here, so I won't."
Nico laughed. "Paint and heavy metals? I guess I never tried that hard to kill someone, but you make it sound tempting; if I get some toxic waste I'll let you know." Nico placed the Staff of One against the table and opened the bottle. Nico realized she was mentally looking for somewhere else to go, but she couldn't think of any, so just shrugged and decided to check the fridge again; there was no need to reply the _no advise_ part.
"So, as lame as it taste, you have to eat regular food, right? Wow, this thing is huge; everyone eats something different here."
"I spice it," Cammie said, "Or I eat garbage."
Nico turned her head, giving her one concerned look. "That is...way too fucking sad" Nico closed the fridge; she wasn't hungry anymore. "Is someone cooking for you? You know, cooking?"
Cammie shrugged, "Someone was, but he left. And that's life in a nutshell. A nice toxic nutshell."
Yes, it was getting a little ridiculous now. "Well, now I do want to cook, besides I have a reason now; with enough effort I'll get bad enough. And you know, you can eat it, throw it away, or wait until it gets worse; I'm leaving a meal down here every night."
"No, you're not. You're not waisting your time like that," Cammie said dryly.
Nico shrugged. "Maybe, maybe not; as I said, worst case scenario, you ignore it until it gets really really nasty, or throw it to the garbage...but you already mentioned you eat from there." Nico seemed pleased with her logic. "It's a win-win situation."
"No, it isn't. Look, you're an interesting kid, I give you that, but really, just don't," Cammie said, "I don't take charity or help or anything from a kid. Worry about yourself."
Nico rolled her eyes. Really now. "I'm bored, and I like to be busy. I don't do charity. If you want, see this as a completely selfish act of mine." Sighing, she took another sip if her bottle. "I don't know why you have to make such an issue out of this."
"I also don't want to be the focus of your boredom," Cammie returned, "So, we're going to work together. Great. Cute. Awesome," she said dryly, "Just stay out of my way and do your job and I'll do mine. Don't act friendly. Don't get close. And don't fucking touch me, and we'll be fine."
"Oho, don't give yourself that much credit."
Nico didn't continue, preferring to stare at the nothingless for a moment; when she spoke again, it was still on the good natured tone she had held the whole time. "Well, maybe I was wrong, and I'm better off keeping my distance from you. It's a shame though." Nico threw the bottle, now empty, to the trash can, and then picked up the Staff of One."Have a nice night Cammie." And then she simply made her way out of the kitchen.
