Lex meets Morgan at Brownstone and is pounced upon.
The city was convenient in that you didn't need to have a vehicle to get around so no one gave her funny looks for walking everywhere or even running down the street. It was also useful because as it got colder her bike became a lot less practical for transport. Sure, she could buy some beat up car and give Callisto puppy dog eyes to help her fix it up but did she want to do that? Well, the Callisto bit would be fun, but she didn't really want to own a car. Decisions, decisions.
That train of thought derailed though when she trotted down the stairs of the brownstone and saw Lex walking in her direction. Ah, victim! With a grin on her face Morgan cleared the rest of the stairs in one bounce and then jogged over to Lex. Instead of slowing, though, she pounced on him. Either he'd catch her or he'd end up on his ass but at least he'd cushion her fall, right? "Soldier boy!"
Caught completely unawares, Lex braced himself at the last moment. He caught the leaping Morgan, even if it wasn't in a graceful fashion. "Oh, hello there beautiful, this is...uh, pleasant." He said, trying to keep himself from copping a feel. It would be all too easy, and she'd probably snap his neck for it.
Long legs wrapped around his waist, ankles crossing at his back. She locked her hands together behind his neck as well and leaned back. Morgan was beaming at him. She was definitely going to blame the excessive amount of coffee she'd had that day. Really, she was not a person who needed that much bleeding caffeine in her system. "Precisely the man I want," she purred playfully. "How are you, love?"
"Much better," Lex grunted, she managed to touch almost every bruise on his body. He spun her around, adjusting her into a slightly more comfortable position. It's been far too long, he thought, "We rescued the diplomat, beat up the bad guys, and I am pretty sure I proved I can do the whole X-men 'incapacitate but don't kill' thing. That was really hard a few times."
She didn't much mind him shifting her about, just let him do it since she was the one playing koala. The tree ought to get some say in the matter, right? But only belatedly. "Aye? Good on you. I can't do that sort of good guy thing. Sorry, but I like my instinct to shoot people. I'm really, really good at it." She said it the way some women would tell a man they were good at blow jobs, with a sultry and teasing note. "And you're in one piece, even. And still standing after pouncing. Impressive, soldier boy." Morgan grinned at him and gave him a wink. "I thoroughly approve."
"I'm glad," he smiled, Morgan may scare the shit out of him at times, but she was also one of the most pleasant women he'd met since he arrived at the mansion. There was simply no room for drama in her life, as far as he could tell. "So, what would you like to do, stay in or go out?"
"Oh the things I could do to you if we stayed in." The teasing was followed by laughter and a girlish smirk. "Aye, but you'd need to wear me out enough to get me that calm in the first place. Think you're up for wearing me out soldier boy or are you too banged up from playing hero?"
"It'd be my pleasure," he said, turning her towards the door. He pulled her closer, breathing gently on her ear. He let his lips get close enough to barely brush it and then gently extricated himself from her pleasant grasp. "How does a bit of walking sound, I think I remember reading an article that said there was a damn good bowyer in town, and I think I want to buy a new bow. I've been meaning to take an extended weekend from the mansion so I could go hunting."
Morgan actually glared at him. He was well within his rights to tease her right back, but she was a little bitter that she wanted to shiver the least bit from him doing that. She kept the impulse at bay, but it only narrowed her eyes a bit more at him. "You mean hunting off of school grounds?" Her tone was light, suspiciously so. "But, aye, I think there's a few places you can get a decent bow. If you're really man enough to handle that sort of weapon." Yes, because teasing him was totally a safe thing to hide behind. Of course, it might bite her in the ass later but for now it was comfortable.
"I didn't realize my manhood was in question," he said with a laugh, it was good to know she wasn't immune to all things emotional. He had to keep reminding himself that as her witty shell always confused him. "I've been trying to hunt with my survival knives, but I've recently found that to be less effective than I'd like." He remembered almost getting killed by a giant cat, and he chuckled to himself, at least there wouldn't be any ferals off the mansion grounds.
"Why a bow, though? Why not a rifle instead? Plenty of men use a gun to hunt. Something about the caliber of their manhood, maybe." She was smirking at him, at east once more. She'd noticeably ruffled but now that they were in the very safe zones of weapons and poking fun at him she relaxed. At least she didn't have to walk slower. Short men were such a bitch to walk through New York with.
"Anyone can kill with a gun," Lex said simply. It was why he'd tried so hard to take deer down without using projectiles, it gave the deer a fighting chance, and even if he'd bruised a rib the one time he got close enough to actually attempt to take one down, he knew it was better than 'point and kill' hunting. "I'm not ashamed of hunting, and so I don't need to be far away when the animal dies. It served its life's purpose by dying to provide me with vital nutrients."
He laughed after a moment, "Sorry, that was a bit blunt."
She arched a white eyebrow up at him. "Because I'm such a delicate little flower that I can't take bluntness? Not to mention, dearest love of mine, a bow may take more skill and travel more slowly but it's still pointing a weapon and firing. Same as a gun. Don't get too moral over using an arrow instead of buckshot."
"I meant it as, well, nevermind." He tried to remember that the more he spoke the dumber he sounded. "I told you I tried with the knives, and I was remotely successful, but I was warned that it was a hazard to my health. Thus, I'm compromising." There were some things he simply couldn't do anymore, risking his life to hunt down a wild animal was one of them. He really did enjoy teaching the students how to take care of themselves.
Lex smiled and grabbed Morgan around the waist, gently brushing her lower back. "Now, how about we stop attacking the wounded soldier, and head out? We've got a lot of ground to cover, and I want to see if you can keep up," he smirked and then raced out the door. He couldn't help trying to get the last word, she deserved it.
"Oi!" Morgan took off after him. He had slightly longer legs on account of being male but she was willing to bet he didn't go running as much as she did. Also, he was supposedly wounded. Supposedly. She didn't see any wounds but, hey, she hadn't opted for the strip search yet either. She took off after him, having to pause to make sure she didn't get the door in her face after he went through it and actually jumped up onto his back when she caught up to him, not caring how unhappy her knees were going to be if they both went down and she landed on them.
The impact on his back wasn't wholly unexpected. Even so, it hurt beyond words. The pain from his recent injuries were increased when the beautiful blue woman threw her body into the bruises. Lex gasped, and it took all his will to keep himself from falling forward. Not that he would have minded her on top of him, but he didn't think it would be received well in public. So, he wrapped his arms around her legs and used their combined momentum to be carried forward. "I thought I was supposed to be exhausting you, not the other way around," he paused, hiding a devilish smile from her, "How's this going to work if I'm carrying you around the city?"
"Should've considered that before you went and tried to cheat, kid." She leaned back and poked him lightly in the ribs. "Are you supposed to be wounded or something?" Morgan pulled our the collar of his shirt so she could try to peer down his back. "I don't see any wounds. It's entirely possible there may need to be a physical show and tell sort of thing before I believe you and, you know, stop pouncing on you for it." But, really, the pouncing was her favorite part and giving that up would be sad. Morgan did, however, wiggle out of his grasp and hop off his back.
Lex lifted the bottom of his shirt, revealing two massive bruises on his back. "I had a fight with a wall... I'm pretty sure it won." He smiled, he didn't mind the pouncing as much as the pain that accompanied it.
Morgan raised the shirt in the center a bit higher with a single finger. "Oh, those are pretty. You realize you're not supposed to get into fights with walls, aye? It's just bad strategy. The wall always wins unless you've got super strength or summat."
"I'll remind Kane about that the next time he has me try to control an entire city grid's worth of power. I was not ready for that sort of feedback." He said, in a pained laugh. Truth be told, he couldn't believe he'd managed it in the first place. He was proud of himself for the first time since being kicked out of the army, not that he'd ever tell anyone.
"Aye?" An eyebrow went up. "The Boy Scout's all about deep end of the pool, I guess. Hope he at least gave you water wings to keep you afloat." She grinned at him, nudging his shoulder with hers. Then she sighed heavily, "Guess this means I'm going to have to wait until you heal before I take advantage of you. Tragic."
"Truly," was his only response as he wrapped his arm around her waist. It was more for support than anything else, but it did feel good. "Now you've made me hungry. After we pick up my bow we're going out to lunch, on you." He winked, and gently bumped his head into hers playfully.
"You are not eating steak off my stomach," she told him quite seriously before laughing. Morgan draped an arm around Lex's shoulders as they walked. Her hip nudged him a bit, but she was smiling at him again. "So, where am I taking you for lunch?"
