The day after the freak out, Jay is packing, and Warren stops by to see him. There is a very sad good bye, and there is a lot not said. Backdated due to my fail.

Jay picked through his room, packing the last of what was important, what was left. Kevin's sketchbook was packed (the two feathers inside, safe), his two guitars resting side by side, thankfully, uncharred. John's fire, while contained, damaged a significant amount of things, although it was nothing compared to what he could have done to Warren.

He hated to admit what Kevin had said, that he'd been an danger, so convinced of his own recouperation, he'd ignored the signs. Arrangements were made to store his truck in a storage unit and Silver was more than understanding, given all of Jay's changes. School was once again, back on the horizon, far away and another semester wasted, more money gone down the drain ; he was never going to finish university.

Despite the bandages around his rapidly healing skin, Jay was still able to function and the remainder of whatever music sheets was not burned, was packed as well. Surprisingly, it all fit in just this small duffle bag since all his clothes were ruined and Jay was left standing there, reflecting.

Warren had been easily patched up with a few stitches and some painkillers, but he had honestly been putting off seeing Jay again. It wasn't that he was scared to see him, or even angry about what happened, he just wasn't sure what he could do, and he'd honestly underestimated the damage that had been done to Jay's psyche. But he was finally here now, knocking a couple of times before he just wandered into Jay's room, pressing his lips together as he surveyed the damage.

"Hey," he said quietly, not wanting to intrude too much on the moment Jay was having.

"Hey," Jay echoed without looking behind him. What Jay would have thought as an awkward silence only turned into something else, a vague sense of indifference looking over the room.

"You okay?" he asked, looking over his shoulder finally. Jay looked something like jono now, bandages everywhere but nothing ever permanent.

"I'm fine," he said, possibly a little too quickly, but wanting to reassure Jay that things were okay. He also wanted to go over and kiss Jay, to reassure him, to... well, he wasn't sure, but he wanted to help. He just didn't know what he could do. "You?"

"Yeah, Ah'm all right," he replied and turned finally, duffle bag in hand. He readjusted his grip and looked downa t it before tossing his head out of habit despite teh fact that some of his hair had been charred off. "Ah'm goin' to Muir."

"...oh." Warren wasn't entirely sure what to say. He wasn't surprised, but at the same time, he hadn't expected to hear that. He frowned a little, sliding his hands into his pockets. "Were you going to tell me before you left?"

"Yeah," he said quietly. "Ah was just cleaning it out, gettin' ready. Yanno?" Jay set the bag down and turned towards Warren fully. His bandaged hand brushed Warren's sleeve before he drew him into a hug. "Ah'm so sorry."

"I'm fine," he replied, wrapping his arms around Jay carefully, avoiding the places where he'd been burnt. "And you don't have to apologize. You didn't mean to hurt me."

Jay's hand's gripped Warren's sleeves as best as he could, pushing away momentarily to rest forehead to forehead. "Ah meant emotionally."

Warren attempted a smile at that, before shifting his head so he could press a kiss against Jay's forehead. "Don't worry about it. You need to focus on yourself, you hear? I'll be fine."

"Ah don't wanna leave," he admitted. "But Ah can't ignore it now. God, War, Ah'm gonna miss ya." He would have asked Warren to wait for him, wanted to but knew it wasn't fair. Not after Warren and his issues with Piotr.

"I'm going to miss you as well," Warren admitted in return, one hand coming up to cup Jay's face carefully. "You'll have to keep me up to date with how everything's going. You know I'm surgically attached to my Blackberry, so I expect regular emails." Warren knew what Jay wasn't saying, and he couldn't bring himself to say it either. As fond as he'd grown of Jay, he knew he couldn't call it love - at least not yet - and he wouldn't commit to something long distance and so unsure if it was anything less than that.

Jay couldn't tell Warren it was love, even in such a short time, he couldn't tell anyone how hard he'd fallen, instead, he would go to Muir, clean himself up, althouhg he doubted Warren would be there when he got back. His lips brushed Warren's collar, suddenly feeling like time was creeping up on them. "You know you'll get an email every morn from me."

"Good." He leaned in and kissed Jay, doing his best not to turn it into something more than simply a parting kiss. It would be too easy to get swept up in the moment, ignoring their injuries and escaping from the world for just a little bit. But it would make watching Jay leave even harder, and Warren hated good byes as it was.

"Hurry back," he said softly, his hand dropping away from Jay's cheek. He might not be making any promises, but he honestly doubted there were many other people out there that would get under his skin like Jay had.

The smile stayed, it struggled to stay as he picked up the duffle again and adjusted his grip, looking for parting words, searching for something to say that wouldn't feel as awful as this. In the end, he was only able to give Warren a parting kiss before he withdrew, smiled again and headed out the door, intent to going to the flyer.
